- Kandiss Crone reports from La Verne where residents who live near two county juvenile detention centers, used to house low-level offenders, are protesting the placement of more violent juvenile offenders, if proposed legislation is passed.
La Verne has a high % of 55+, retirees, and senior residences. They are vulnerable to savage young adults’ rage.

La verne is one of the last ACTUALLY nice small, quite suburbs with generational families living in the same homes. Most of the residents have good character. Obviously you get alot of Karen's in nice neighborhoods however other than that it's a very rare thing to find now days in California suburbs.
I moved away from the hood, because I wanted a better life for my family. Now they bring it right back.

The detention centers were there first. The town chose to develop residential neighborhoods around the centers and the residents chose to live there. Children should be rehabilitated, and that should happen on a local level. Warehousing children amongst adult offenders is disgraceful.

18 - 25 is transitional aged youth. Try to argue against this with any real community leader and elected official in California.

Unfortunately this situation is not cut and dry like you think. They want to house 13 -25 year Olds who have committed heinous crimes in an old outdated, low security facility with unarmed guards who won't even be permitted to have pepper spray. Then the age gap of the inmates is insane. What good can come out of having grown men mixed with kids?
