I've never been to this park but sure does bring back memories when I went to Camden Park in Huntington WVa and I love these old parks brings back memories and has heart, it's a Get-away place with out toomuch hustle and bustle. I hope this place live s forever :)
I loved riding the Pirate Ship but it looks like it was taken out and they built a redwood deck and picnic tables there? It was when you walk in, if you stayed to the left, it would be on your right, by the water. I was a very skinny teen, underweight, and it only had a lapbar to hold people in, shared by everyone on the row. The ship was basically like a pendulum, with the ship swinging at the bottom, and I'd sit on the bench in the very back end to feel the motion the most. The lapbar was nowhere near my actual lap since I was so skinny and there was nothing to brace your feet against so I'd have to put my arms under the bar and push up against it to keep myself from flying out when the boat got to the top of the pendulum swing and went back down. 😅
My brother owned a pizza place and was looking to move his business to Chattanooga. The Sugar Ribs location (prior to it becoming Sugar Ribs) was up for lease, and my brother inquired about it, but they were asking too much in rent, if I'm not mistaken. If he had done so, it'd be a pizza place instead of "Sugar Ribs".
The park first opened up in 1924. The boat chute is a on the national register of historic rides, which opened up shortly after the park first opened. Where the dark ride on the midway was where the swimming pool was. The Cannonball opened in 1967 and it down in the colors of blue and gray to represent both the confederate and union armies. The wacky factory was originally called the castle and it was a 2 story attraction.
@@MelB868 yes,. Back in the 70's it had a psychodelic circle above the 2nd level drop. It was good back then. They used to have a walk through called the mystic Mansion that was above the boat chute. Behind the Castle was a walk thru fun house similar to what u find in Europe.
@@IntheLoopPodcastwe stayed to they closed I was wanting to get their when they opened but the other people didn't meet in time and we had breakfast at jacks
2023 season, I had someone step off my train, at 10mph, near Jukebox Junction coming up to the Antique Cars, to retrieve a flip flop. People walking out in front of me and looking at me funny for blowing the Lunkenheimer 2-200 Whistle at 100PSI at them has already got me buggered again this season too. It was the same last year. I just got back this week since last season(better late than never), and people are just as inattentive as last year. It always startles me when I see someone walking towards the crossings now. PTSD?
History Tidbit: Lake Winnie was once used as a retreat for the local National Guard Armory personnel during summer training. It’s not anymore, but at one point it was. - The CPHunnington is a Ford Gas Tractor engine powered trainset. It uses an old Tractor motor connected to a series of gearboxes, transfer cases, differentials, and drive shafts which operate the forward and rear most axels on the locomotive(note, I just mean the locomotive. Not the cars). It is fittingly designed to loosely resemble the Lima Locomotive Works “Climax” class Geared Locomotive(with some noticeable differences, such as the addition of the “show wheels”, which appear to be standard locomotive drivers but are non functional). We have two Hunnington’s. The blue one was built in 1957 and delivered to the park that same year. The second one was purchased soon after. We generally run the Blue Boiler one, but when it needs maintenance we’ll run the other one instead. Also, we’ll run both on extremely busy days, or on holidays and event days. Actually, the Red Boiler is getting the transmission replaced and will likely take flagship while the Blue Boiler undergoes heavy maintenance. 2 seasons in, and I’ve yet to actually touch the Red Boiler. I heard she runs… “different” than the one we usually put out front.
I didn't have time to ride a few rides but I rode a lot I had so much fun we went Saturday July 27th my legs are sore it's 12:38 I haven't went to bed yet but I'm about to
I live in Townsend TN and a friend of mine family took me and my brother there in the 90s! I can't believe you did a video on it. Right on brother! I'm going to carrolwinds Sunday for the 1st time! Can't wait to ride fury 325
I've been here! One of the most unique things I've done in a amusement park is do the paddleboats :) it's definetly a cute little park and I only got one ride on cannonball but it was good!
The last part is pronounced soak-a. I think they named the water park the same but ending in "soak-ya", to play off the name, like "I'll soak ya with this watergun." Edit- I've lived in Chattanooga my entire life.

Love the mini-museum, old memorabilia, and signs!
It was my first time riding a roller-coasterh here.
My dad rode it with me even though he was afraid of heights. I think I was around 7 years old.
My grandma takes us here every year. It became like a tradition for our family
Great video! I used to work at Lake Winnie as a game operator. My kids are excited for their first visit next week. We watched this to get hyped!
Thanks for the review, I will be going at the end of July!
My grandfather use to take us here and I'm taking my kids for the first time next week.😊
Can’t wait to visit later this summer!!
I wish I could visit this summer but it’s too far away and wouldn’t be financially possible

What's a dark ride? Wacky factory?
They put some scary stuff in there

Is there a tilt a whirl??
Does the water park and theme park have seperate admission?
Nope, one ticket gets you into both parks.
No it's all one admission

Did they get that Conestoga from Hershey?
Yes they did
Where is that I thought Hershey was a candy bar
We brought our lunches and I just got a fruit bowl there and after the park we went out to eat

Have you seen the google satellite view? The lake looks almost empty and the park looks like it’s been abandoned for 10 years 😱
>>*goes to look*
Wow that’s crazy you weren’t kidding!! Must have been during the droughts a few years back? Weird.
What were Beavis and Butthead doing at the gift shop? 😂
Cannonball was my 100th.

My favorite "mom n pop" amusement parks. Glad to see them still going as the pandemic wasn't too good to them.
My grandmother used to be a lifeguard at the lake back when it was a swimming hole when she was a much much younger. Thanks for stopping by!
They have a water park side
To me once they built the Water Park The main part of the Park went down hill.
I had fun in both parks on the water park side I rode two water slides and the lazy river
Cute

The wild mouse was taken out in 2022 but it had stopped working in like 2021
Cute
