Hello ! I have a few specific questions about the new visa: 1. Regarding the submission of the documents for the visa: do they have to be in English (salary slips, letter from the workplace, etc.) ? That is, if my documents are not in English, do they need to be translated into English ? & if yes, how do I do it ? How do you translate an original salary slip into English ? 2. After receiving the visa, can I get a Thai driver's license ? & What about buying a motorcycle in Thailand on my name ? Will it be possible ? Thanks for the info !
That’s great! Could you please share the email you’ve written to? Because we emailed Thai embassy in KL and haven’t got any reply. We wrote to thaiembassy. kul (can’t write it properly, YT doesn’t allow links), could you confirm if this email address is correct?
Awesome! but the examples of muay thai , cooking courses and music festivals seems to be only a partial list of activities. i have tried researching to find more examples but am unable to see scuba or snorkeling on the list. i also searched for Thai music festivals schedule with almost nothing listed. and for example, if i choose more than one activity, may i sample one for awhile and then switch to another? thanks 🙏 in advance
I'm very interested in this as well. The "soft power" method as it is described sounds almost too easy. For example, could I just book a comprehensive health exam at Bumrungrad Hospital? Or a week long Thai cooking class? It would seem crazy that either of those would result in a 5 year visa, but the DTV details do not list any length requirement for the soft power activity.
Not sure about banking like in terms of opening new accounts. Since it is under Tourist visa then it’s not eligible to obtain local Thai bank accounts.
Yea I can confirm this too. I have friends that have done this in Jakarta and Kuala Lumpur. However, the embassies are getting stricter about showing proof of residency in the respective country you are applying from.
Hello , to apply for DTV under soft power, how long the course of study or training should be to get approval ? 6 month , one year ? For Mauy Thai for example?! I want to Buy a course but i need to be sure first? Anyone know ?
@@MorganNilsen Read the actual requirements, if you can prove you are a freelancer with a portfolio you will be fine, use common sense and prove to them you are making money outside of Thailand
@@testicool013 Well you wouldn't be a digital nomad / online freelancer then would you? If you are entering and leaving the country so often do you even need the DTV? Maybe it would be an easier task to apply under the soft power option?
@@MorganNilsen I verified this fact later, a bit of a tall ask. I feel it's a lot of money in a savings bank account. Business persons would have that money in a trading or stock mutual fund. It's very unlikely for most people unless retired to keep 500000 thb in their account. A very strong metric to apply for dtv visa I opine.
@@rohanrajah8839 500,000 THB is like 12,000 GBP or about 14,000 USD, its not a crazy amount of money to have in a bank account certainly not from a westerner point of view. You should have at least that amount of money in a bank account before making such a serious life changing decision such as moving to a different county. The Thai Authorities want assurances that you are taking it seriously financially
This visa puts you firmly on the radar for the new expat tax and thats probably one of the intensions of this visa.
Perhaps. I have to pay taxes to Norway anyways so

I would also like confirmation please 🙏 I am looking to go to vietnam or Taiwan to apply
Siam Legal told me I could apply from a neighbouring country embassy in SEAsia too
Amazing progress! Remains to see the tax situation that drew a lot of controversy lately.
I was struggling with my professional portfolio for DTV Visa. I took help from Decade Technology Australia. See you soon Thailand 🇹🇭

wow, maybe its worth moving!
Hi does the visa start when you arrive in Thailand or when you receive it? Thanks
5yr start when u got aproved.
Great question. I suppose the 5 year use start when you get it. And the days start when you arrive. But not sure yet

This is my concern as well. Living in Thailand long term without a Thai bank account would be quite a pain.
You don't need to go back to your country. You can fly to Cambodia or another place and apply from there.
Yea I can confirm this too. I have friends that have done this in Jakarta and Kuala Lumpur. However, the embassies are getting stricter about showing proof of residency in the respective country you are applying from.
Hello Morgan! Have you found out where to apply for DTV? Is it only possible to apply from one's home country?
Not sure yet. For now I am assuming you only can apply from home. But this may be incorrect
any country outside TH that have a thai embassy u can apply for DTV.

I dont know
email u local thai embassy
The freelance category doesn’t make sense, you need a letter of employment from a company outside of Thailand but that’s not freelancing
My understanding is that you can apply as freelance if you already have solid clients.
@@MorganNilsen solid clients for what ?

@@DragonSlash42 ok so I work for a drilling company in PNG, I work six weeks then fly back to Thailand for 3 weeks would that qualify me for the visa

Pain in the butt!!! Website is faulty
Which one?
Appreciate your effort. Request info on requirement of 500000 thb in account to be eligible to apply for dtv.
What info about that do you need?
