How To Build Up Wax On Your Stick

  • This is crucial when becoming an experienced waxer because the more wax you build up on your stick, the larger strips you can lay which means you get faster and more efficient with each customer. The more efficient you get with each customer, means you can take more customers and make more money. Your customers will also appreciate it because then they aren’t laying on your table getting waxed for an hour so they’re in pain for a shorter period of time.
The most important part is to ensure the consistency of your wax is correct. So many people ask what the best temperature of hard wax is and I always say the same thing. DON’T FOCUS ON TEMPERATURE. Instead, you need to focus on the consistency of the wax. The wax needs to move like honey or molasses. It should be slow moving. If it moves too fast, then the wax is too hot. If it moves too slow, then the wax won’t be able to adhere to the hair.
The temperature will be different based on:
    temperature of your room
    the temperature outside
what type of wax warmer you’re using
how much wax is in the warmer
what type of wax you have
the humidity in your room, etc.
Once you confirm the consistency of your wax is correct, now you can practice building wax onto your stick. Start by dipping your stick in the wax and immediately start spinning it once you pull it out of the warmer. Do that multiple times until you feel comfortable holding that amount of wax on your stick.
Next, after you’ve already dipped your stick in your wax and twirled it. Do it again with the wax that is already on there. So basically you’re going to double dip your wax stick (this is a stick that you have never used on a person!). This will create a second thicker layer of wax on your stick which will allow you to lay a larger strip. You can do this as many times as you want which will just build more wax on your stick each time.

you are so right about temperature, i couldn't figure out why my strip kept drying way too fast, cracking and breaking. turns out my wax was entirely too warm even tho i was fine with the temperature. after cooling it, i truly saw the perfect consistency and moved so much faster with one pull.. this trick is neat! i was having difficulty putting more on my stick. ill try this next time for my underarms

🤯does the spinning help with the wax not cooling down. I need to practice spinning faster 😅.

    • @hissnkittenwaxing
      @hissnkittenwaxing  3 года назад

Yes it does! Spinning allows you to hold more wax on your stick without it falling off.

I love your videos, they are very informative and helpful. I’m not a esthetician. I wax my underarms at home and use Starpil blue hard wax with the Starpil wax warmer. I try to get the molasses consistency you speak of but the wax seams to start drying and hardening almost immediately when I apply it to my underarms. When I turn the temperature up just a little it’s too runny. Not sure what I’m doing wrong.

Thank you so much! So glad my videos are helping :) Hm, is there a lot of air flow in your room? Like a fan? If so you should probably turn that off because that might be playing into it cooling too fast. Although, Starpil's blue film does cool very fast!

That wax is very fast drying and not good quality IMO.. try mermaid wax! It’s the best around.

I live in overseas but dying to buy Mermaid wax! You don’t do overseas shipping service ;-( ?

Aw, thank you so much for your support! Currently we only ship inside the US. My apologies. Because of this, we do have quite a few customers who use a re-shipper in order to receive our products. Just google "re-shipping service USA" super easy :)

HK Wax Center - Austin Arbor When you do it, can you show how to apply? I've seen people talk about not laying the stick flat, but I'm not 100% sure on what that means? 😬 I did go to cosmetology school, but we learned nothing, about waxing or anything in general. 😩

I hate that it takes so long. Like. All the way up. Takes 3 hours to melt. The. Put it down to 160. For an hour to cool enough to use

    • @hissnkittenwaxing

Huh? What kind of wax warmer are you using? Should never take more than 30 min.

its a tress wellness one i put it all the way up try and stir every 5-10 minutes it always takes several hours to fully melt then turn it down and try and test the temp and consistency often and takes usually 40-60 minutes to cool to a usable temp......maybe im doing something wrong but it was the same when i was usung a cheap gigi one@@hissnkittenwaxing
