Here in the U.S.A I ordered a Cometa 400 USC in .177 from Keystone Airguns in Pennsylvania, shooting H&N field target trophy pellets I can hit a 1 inch target dot at 27 yards right out of the box after sighting the scope in shot after shot, and later on, I tried JSB Exact Heavy, and shot even better., I love this COMETA!

Hey Mad Dog, that's a nice air rifle. With spring rifles the lighter pellets like RWS Hobby, Bisley Practice etc actually give higher muzzle energy than the much heavier pellets. I'm not exactly sure why, but it must be to do with the dynamics of the firing cycle and the efficiency of energy transfer from the spring to the pellet. Maybe the inertia of a heavier pellet means the air gets more compressed behind it before the pellet moves causing more heating of the air and energy loss (?) That's just a theory.
That should be enough to take out pheasants there eh Mr.Dog? I don't know if you have them there...we have an abundance of quail here and that would be more then enough to harvest one! Thanks for sharing this bruv! Cheers, Jerbs

Great video mad dog and a nice rifle you have there ohh how I miss my hw77 in 1.77 😢 but I must say I am impressed with your safety advice when I comes to holding on to the barrel when breaking it and loading it its an all to often never taught safety measure unfortunately and when it comes to only shooting with a back stop I completely agree that's how I was educated In shooting the only thing I would add is never shoot game on a crest of a hill as you don't know what is over that hill a house or even worse a person walking up the opposite side always have a back stop 👍

Are Silencers no longer legal in the UK. I know they're not in Irland. I've owned many Air rifles and Although I've not shot for some time. I still own a BSA lightning with a synthetic black tactical stock with silencer and a 4-12 x 48 NIkkon sight. I've owned a Webly tracker, Arm arms TX200 HC, BSA Meteor, Theoben Fenman, Theoben Rapid 12 / 22 profile Precharged and a good 10 others that I can't remember as it was years ago. I've also owned FAC Theoben Eliminator (didn't like that gun) and a 22 Rugar Rimfire all legally of course. FAC laws in the UK are so over the top, just as bad as our knife laws. I have many good and fun memories of shooting with my Dad over the years before he died. He was into his shotgun clay pigeon shooting, something I didn't enjoy that much. Be nice to see some of your other guns m8. They definitely play their part in bushcraft as long as used legally and on land with permission. From back garden plinking to Precharge hunting, many hours of fun can be had for a small amount of cost upfront and most importantly it gets you outside away from the computer or games console. Thxs for the memories this video brought back.
Thanks brother! Sounds like you have plenty of experience and fond memories from shooting too! Yes silencers/moderators are legal over here but I believe they come with a extensive paperwork exercise! 🙄 I’ll definitely be doing more shooting type videos as I go along, although RUclips doesn’t like it, it’s one of my favourite hobbies. Thanks for sharing your comment brother! I appreciate it! Best wishes 👍🏽👍🏽😎
Hi Andy, hope you are both well.Good vid.Hey,you'll love one of mine...a CAREER ...98lb psi.it has 3 dial up pressures ..yellow,green and Red.you can change the barrel and 8 shot loader over to a 9mm barrel and a single 9mm load...lol. They use them for hunting Wild Boar.heehee. Gary
A lighter pellet works better in a 12ft/lbs rifle , 13 to 14 gr , will produce a much flatter trajectory and it will be more accurate. Cheers good video Dog
@MadDogSurvival I've been looking at the Cometa 220 with silencer . It's not full powered I believe, I've always used .22, but I fancy this one in .177 , which would suit also backyard shooting, Cheers Dog .
Great rifle but fastening is it good or great never had much to do with that type of latch up, but found a local dealer that sells Asi rifles 20 minutes away
Looks like quality, shame about the plastic trigger. It's illegal to hunt with any air rifle here in Finland. Easier to obtain a FAC though but you also need a separate permit to be able to hunt too. Great review and information mate. All the best
Realy quick. What sort of humane accuracy range do you get out of this rifle? Obviously shot placement is important. Also. Hows the trajectory at medium ranges?
I usually don’t go past 30 yards, not because of the rifle but because I’m badly out of practice and the woods I shoot in pretty much determines my effective range. At these distances with a heavy pellet I can take squirrels, pigeons and rabbits humanely. I zero my scope in at around 15 yards and then I know I can hold over by around the head of a pigeon and know I’ll get a good shot. So to answer your question I think the trajectory is arcing up and levels out at around 30-35 yards. ……. If I remember correctly!! I’ve not shot this rifle for ages now! 🙄…. Hope this helps! Best wishes mate 👍🏻👍🏻😎
I’m no airgun expert mate I can only speak from my own experiences and I can honestly say that with practice this rifle at sensible ranges performs as well as my air arms s410 regarding accuracy, that maybe due to my own lack of skill, but for me it’s more than adequate 👍🏻👍🏻😎
great video and a great rifle does the muzzle break unscrew as if it does what is the thread and could it be the right thread for a moderator as i would go that way, but still a great video
Thanks mate! Yes the muzzle break unscrews but behind it is a spring type arrangement that sits in a form of baffling slots, Comets sat this is to reduce recoil and muzzle rise. I haven’t taken mine off as yet so I’m not sure on the thread size. Sorry I can’t help on this at present, I’m sure there will be info on this somewhere. I believe Cometa have great customer response so they might be worth asking directly. Thanks very much for your watching mate very best wishes 👍🏽👍🏽😎
Thanks for the video. If you allready have in your break barrel collection the Diana 350, Walther LGV ,HW98, and SigSauer ASP20 , the cometa fenix will contribute to this family? mainly in terms of accurracy to paper target, I have my springers with Vortek kit, really worth it aat that case? the looks is nice.
@@justusupnorth8262 probably would need a strip down with new seals and mainspring. I took my late grandads old Diana apart some years ago, the internals hadn't seen the light of day since 1930. Surprisingly the spring was fine, so i just cleaned it up , regreased and put a new piston and breech seal in, courtesy of John Knibbs
the fusion is a more fancy version of the fenix are those scope arrestor holes actually big enough to fit the arrestor pin? I know they're too small on the fenix
Thanks! They do go in but it’s tight I spent some time on the pin with a piece of wet/dry paper carefully and just enough to allow it to go in more easily. Not ideal out of the box! Thanks for watching and commenting best wishes 👍🏽😎
@@MadDogSurvival Yep, its either that or drill bigger holes in the gun which is not something i'd want to do. I'd have thought cometa would have noticed this , tut ! It does have a pretty good two stage trigger though. Many otherwise good air rifles are ruined by poor triggers
That’s a tough question mate! I think the trigger is better on the crossman, as in built better, but heavier than the cometa on pull...but I’d personally say that the barrel is better quality on the cometa, but I do like the iron sight option on the crossman too! (if you prefer open sight shooting) .... I believe they are both similar in power, for me it would boil down to two things... the price... which I believe the crossman is available more easily at cheaper price points....and secondly how it feels, this is why I choose to spend a bit more and went for the fusion! Plus it’s nice to own something a little different! .... if I were you I’d want to see them both side by side and shoot them a little bit, so off to the gun shops (when open again 🙄) either way I wish you happy and safe shooting my friend 👍🏽👍🏽😎 p.s.... quick foot note, I’d also say both of these have quite loud muzzle reports! With the fusion being slightly less noisy!!! Just incase your a back yard shooter! 👍🏽😎

Cracking video fella, not a bad gun Tbf pal. Maybe a video of the mad dogs collection is in order Hahaha.
Thanks mate! Yep it’s not bad. I’ll show my other stuff as we go along.... well some of it anyway 😉👍🏽 best wishes mate 😎
Gary
Now that sounds like fun 👍🏽👍🏽😎👌🏽👌🏽 nice one brother
A lighter pellet works better in a 12ft/lbs rifle , 13 to 14 gr , will produce a much flatter trajectory and it will be more accurate. Cheers good video Dog
Thanks mate 👍🏻😎
@MadDogSurvival I've been looking at the Cometa 220 with silencer . It's not full powered I believe, I've always used .22, but I fancy this one in .177 , which would suit also backyard shooting, Cheers Dog .
Yeah I’ve seen that too, looks like a great backyard plinker without getting on the neighbours nerves lol 👍🏻😎
Great rifle but fastening is it good or great never had much to do with that type of latch up, but found a local dealer that sells Asi rifles 20 minutes away
Nice one mate! Best wishes friend 👍🏻👍🏻😎
Looks like quality, shame about the plastic trigger. It's illegal to hunt with any air rifle here in Finland. Easier to obtain a FAC though but you also need a separate permit to be able to hunt too.
Great review and information mate.
All the best
Thanks brother! Thanks for your information too! Interesting how different countries do things! Hope your well up there! Best wishes mate 👍🏽👍🏽😎
@MadDogSurvival outstanding. I've read very good things about these rifles. Far better than any gamo, bsa or uramex etc?
Thanks for the reply I will try more directly.
No problem! Let me know how you get on please my friend 👍🏽👍🏽😎
Thanks mate ! Sounds like a great collection of yours! Enjoy your shooting 👍🏽👍🏽😎
Cool.
Thanks brother 👍🏽👍🏽😎
Nice looking air rifle.
I have a Diana that dates to pre WW 2,it still shoots but not very powerful anymore though.
Nice one mate! Nice to have some older stuff in the collection! They have plenty of character! Best wishes mate 👍🏽👍🏽😎
is it a model 27 ?
@@46FreddieMercury91 don’t know the model, only stamping on it say 5 1/3 mm
@@justusupnorth8262 probably would need a strip down with new seals and mainspring. I took my late grandads old Diana apart some years ago, the internals hadn't seen the light of day since 1930. Surprisingly the spring was fine, so i just cleaned it up , regreased and put a new piston and breech seal in, courtesy of John Knibbs
the fusion is a more fancy version of the fenix
are those scope arrestor holes actually big enough to fit the arrestor pin? I know they're too small on the fenix
Thanks! They do go in but it’s tight I spent some time on the pin with a piece of wet/dry paper carefully and just enough to allow it to go in more easily. Not ideal out of the box! Thanks for watching and commenting best wishes 👍🏽😎
@@MadDogSurvival Yep, its either that or drill bigger holes in the gun which is not something i'd want to do. I'd have thought cometa would have noticed this , tut ! It does have a pretty good two stage trigger though. Many otherwise good air rifles are ruined by poor triggers
Very nice air rifle, licenses ?
Thanks! No licenses required as stated in the video! Best wishes 👍🏽😎
@@MadDogSurvival oh good, I hate gun laws. Where I live i can legally carry concealed loaded firearms.
Excellent! 👍🏽👍🏽😎
I have a Gamo Air rifle Raptor .22 cal 1000fps with a 4x32 scope.
Nice one sister 👍🏽👍🏽😎
@@MadDogSurvival Alaska Prepper said it would be a good one for hunting small game.
Yep definitely! 👍🏽👍🏽😎
What did you fill your bench rest bags with Mad Dog just got myself some of those and was wondering what to fill them with❔ thanks 👍
I used driveway kiln dried sand mate 👍🏽😎
Thanks Mad Dog much appreciated mate 👍
No problem mate 👍🏽👍🏽😎
Which one is best comeeta fusion or crossman optimus sir i am waiting for your response
@@MadDogSurvival thanks for your valuable response
Anytime! Hope it helps a little 👍🏽👍🏽😎
Whats price of this gun sir??
Around £200-£250 👍🏻😎
@@MadDogSurvival 250 euros ??
English pounds sterling 👍🏻😎
What is his fps ?
Around 750 to 850 fps depending on the weight of the pellet (in .22) 👍🏽😎
I like the airguns but not the far right imagery
What Far right imagery???
Weihrauch or nothing!
Yep they are good. I have a couple. I still prefer AirArms myself though, probably just because they are English made lol… best wishes mate
