    Avene, La Roche Posay, and Bioderma are my go-to brands for sensitive, highly reactive skin. All available at Walgreens!

    So, this is a controversial topic, and you've addressed it and related criticism before, but I'd be curious to hear an update: how do you think receiving PR has impacted your relationship with shopping? Do you think receiving PR makes it significantly easier for you to not overspend because you're able to continuously acquire and test out new products? There's no shade intended with this comment, it's simply worth acknowledging that you're in a different position than you were when you started this channel and from most of us who are grabbling with our constant desire for newness. Love and appreciate your content, Hannah.

    • @akchills
      @akchills 2 года назад +17

      I feel like considering Hannah recently went on a no buy recently that the idea that she's in a different position from most of us grappling with "constant desire for newness" isn't really accurate? I'm sure the kind of things she buys or wants to buy may have changed but the root cause of her overspending or the things that led to it can still exist even with the receiving of PR. I think actually doing youtube as a job can impact someones relationship with shopping because there's a huge expectation to keep up with what's new or discuss products as soon as they come out and a lot of those things are not coming from PR, I follow some creators who sometimes spend like $1000 a month and that's on top of the PR they are receiving! (The impact of being a full time youtuber to her relationship with shopping is I think a more interesting question tbh I find the focus on PR to be a little myopic)

    • @theprousteffect9717
      @theprousteffect9717 2 года назад +16

      @@akchills I understand all of that. All I mean is that her circumstances are different from when she started her channel, and most of us aren't receiving PR - ie her being in a different position than most of us is simply a factual statement.
      But yeah, I'm interested in how being a RUclipsr in general affects one's relationship with shopping. PR is just one aspect of being a RUclipsr that I'm interested in, and you know, it's okay if you're not.

    • @beaherzberg
      @beaherzberg 2 года назад +7

      Great question! I feel like I’m constantly hankering for experiencing and experimenting with newness, but I’m in a position where products aren’t sent to me!

    • @rachaelerin1
      @rachaelerin1 2 года назад +2

      @@theprousteffect9717 this is such a great question! I hope she addresses it. I am a new listener from the interview she did with the Financial Diet and I was genuinely surprised to see so much stuffstuffstuff content. I am still happy I found her and will probably watch her off and on but just wasn’t what I was expecting.

    • @theprousteffect9717
      @theprousteffect9717 2 года назад +3

      @@rachaelerin1 Like I mentioned, Hannah has addressed this topic before in this video:
      ruclips.net/video/3m2zM3FNF_Q/видео.html
      I'm just curious how her experience has evolved since then. The reality is, her experience is going to be a bit different from others trying to curb their spending, because she's a RUclipsr and beauty reviewer who gets sent PR, and has a separate budget she buys product with to review. But I still watch her and find her enjoyment of products, and thought process behind why she will or won't buy certain items to be very helpful for me. Her older content is also always there to watch.

    Just got to your section on paula's choice masks and if thick, super hydrating, super nourishing overnight masks is what you're into I HIGHLY recommend the Balancing Gel from a korean brand called Pyunkang Yul. The entire brand is absolutely amazing with their main line products being specifically for normal-dry skin (the Essence Toner and the nutrition cream are UNREAL if long-term moisturization and hydration are your main concerns), but I have yet to come across anything like the Balancing Gel. I have had chemical burns and allergic reactions that have cleared up in just 2 days because of that gel. And in the winter time, it's just a life saver, especially in windy, cold, dry climates. 10/10 product for me. You can pick it up at any of the major online kbeauty retailers too (yesstyle, ohlolly, stylekorean, etc)

    For red, sensitive skin that is also acne prone I've been using azelaic acid and it has helped. It does have a slight tingling and itchy feeling when you first introduce it but it has helped my sensitivity and congestion on the nights I do not use my tretinoin. It has helped to keep my tretinoin strength low and thus minimizing overall irritation. My favorite one is from peach slices and it is quite affordable!
    Also, you have inspired me to do a no-buy October. It truly has jolted me into an awareness of my relationship wit money, shopping, and the possession of things. Much to think about this month :)

    That red version of the Paula’s choice lines is my favourite moisturiser - of all time. I use also in red line ‘skin recovery replenishing moisturiser’ which is the moisturiser equivalent of that mask, it’s rich and divine. I’ve suffered a form of painful rosacea for years and this plus my medication totally saved my skin which is now totally smooth clear and irritation free. The omega complex moisturiser is also divine under the replenishing, just adds some light oils.
    The eyebrows are how they should be - forgivably mussed!

    Tarte’s Deep Dive gel cleanser has been my holy grail first AND second cleanser for 6 years. It is incredible and highly underrated. It cleanses without stripping, removes everything, and doesn’t sting the eyes.
    Also, the blades can be reused but would definitely use rubbing alcohol to clean. I think the recommendation to use once only might be a safety issue because the blades get dull after a while and they probably don’t want people scraping their skin too hard if the blade is just ineffective. Just my thoughts as someone who uses a scalpel at work and has never actually done dermaplaning 🙂

    Burts Bees Cleansing Oil is my favorite first cleanse! Nice sized bottle, often can get on sale, smells lovely, and is so satisfying to rub into my face and really melt my makeup away, even serious eye looks with waterproof mascara. 👌👌👌🐝

    I am using the Osea body oil now. I had been using the Elemis body oil. In my opinion they both have a slightly medicinal scent, sort of like the OG Clarins body oils, but the scent is lighter. A body oil is great to put on slightly wet or damp skin. I only use it every other day. My biggest gripe with the Elemis was the packaging. Specifically the eensy cap.

    I can't say enough about after shower body oil. I like philosophy's sativa oil blend. If im gettin dressed after the shower, i use it like the directions say so its not too concentrated but otherwise im showering before bed and just slather it on, it has done wonders. I like the very green scent it has. Its earthy but fresh, very natural, not over fragrances like most philosophy products. it doesn't clash with my personal scent or my other products, it's subtle and fades away nicely. The oil doesn't feel too greasy to me, it absorbs well and the cotton bedding probably wicks away the excess but there's no oil staining on my bedding or clothes whatsoever. It has helped prevent, treat and erase problems like dry skin, razor rash, eczema patches, stretch marks and most amazingly, erased the creasing wrinkles on my chest. It's also great for detangling hair before a wash and I oil my nails with it every night. What a huge difference this one product has made! It definitely helps my skin look and feel MUCH younger and healthier. in the summertime, I finish the tops of my shoulders and legs with it and my skin glows. It erases shave irritation and helps prevent razor rash. I'm sure that since it has all of these natural ingredients, it's going to be an irritant for someone but it's holy grail for me. It's pretty expensive too but philosophy frequently has 30% off and that's when I buy it. I'm gonna try Osea when I see it on sale.

    I have been re-watching your playlist of your full no buy year and really enjoying it; however I’ve been thinking about how your skin care has changed so much since you’re no buy year. Not just in terms of how much money you spend on skin care but also about the types of products. You mentioned in this video how you cut out oils and I had just watched a video where you were really singing face oil praises. I would really appreciate a full updated skin care routine including your thoughts on what you’ve said previously. An idea may be to go through an old video and react to it love your content as usual sending love from Ann Arbor!

    Hi Hannah - have you tried any products from Jordan Samuel? The Aftershow Treatment Cleanser is a glorious first cleanser! It has a really unique texture and gets all my make-up off (I use it with a flannel cloth). I also love the Moisture Recovery Cream. Talk about thic 😉. It is the most perfect after retinol cream.

    If you like the idea of changing your dermaplaner blade frequently, but don't like the idea of having to make frequent purchases of specialized blades, you might look into the Dermaplaner that Leaf Shave is developing (not released yet, but they are teasing it on IG quite a bit). It looks to use a standard dual edge blade, similar to their razors.

      What areas do you have body acne? I've been wanting to try the Necessaire one, but been holding out due to the price lol but I haven't found anything that works and I'm starting to get desperate lol
