Maestro Ilayaraja deserves ALL the awards in the world just for the song "Thumbi vaa" alone! There r 1000's of his songs across the South! FIRST ASIAN to compose symphony (5 times from 1993). Shame that Bollywood producers/directors did NOT recognize his worth, their loss! We, Southerners, are FORTUNATE to listen to & ENJOY his VAST database of rich, haunting & soulful collections - songs or BGMs!! CLINT & NIZHALKUTHU - 2 BEST movies but did not do well because of commercial movies taking over the art of cinema.

Actually, it is not offensive to use "senthamizhan". 500 years ago, there was no such thing as "Kerala" or "Malayalam"; the region was part of Thamizhagam (Cheran and Pandian) and the original language spoken was Sen-Thamizh. Many words in Malayalm today are Sen-Thamizh words that are not used in today's modern Tamil.
