1977 സമയത്തു ഞാൻ 10 ആം ക്ലാസ്സിൽ കൊല്ലത്തു പഠിക്കുന്ന സമയം അടിപൊളി ആയിട്ടു ഒരു തമിഴ് സിനിമ വന്നു ഞാൻ ആ സിനിമ കണ്ടു വളരെ അധികം ഇഷ്ടപ്പെട്ടു തുടർച്ച ആയി 3, 4 തവണ കണ്ടു. ആ സിനിമയിൽ ഉള്ള ഗാനങ്ങൾ ഇളയരാജ കമ്പോസ് ചെയ്തത് ആർക്കും അറിയില്ല പക്ഷെ ആ ഗാനങ്ങൾ അത്ര അധികം ഹിറ്റ് ആയി, അത് വരെ കേരളത്തില് എവിടെ ആയാലും ഹിന്ദി ഗാനങ്ങൾ ആണ് കേൾക്കുക ആ സാഹചര്യം തൂത്തു മാറ്റിയത് അന്നക്കിളി എന്ന ചിത്രത്തിലെ ഗാനങ്ങളാണ്. അന്ന് മുതൽ ഇന്ന് വരെ ഇളയരാജ ഒരു രോമാഞ്ചമായി തുടരുന്നത് ഒരു അതിശയം തന്നെ. ഇളയരാജ സത്യത്തിൽ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ സമ്മാനമാണ്, അദ്ദേഹം ആയുരാരോഗ്യ സൗക്യത്തോട് നീണാൾ വാഴണം 🙏

Ilayaraja, jency songs were much super hit during early 80's, same way illayaraja with vairamuthu (Lyrics) during 1982-85 we're golden days for tamil film songs, there after illayaraja, vaali combo songs were super hit till 1995 n made him isagnani, Maestro, Raagadhevan, etc

I have always thought the greatness of Illayaraja's compositions is that despite the recording quality not being great ( because of sub optimal equipment he had to rely on) they have withstood test of time.
We like his songs for the greatness of his compositions
If Illaraja, SPB and S Janaki were to redo many of the old songs with modern equipment then they would have been beyond words to describe
I will say raja sir is Supreme. ARR is nowhere near to Raja sir. He is a class carved in his own way. Ilayaraja sir, Yesudas, SPB Sir, MSV, TMS, Devarajan master, Rafi, Kishore Kumar, Mukesh Raveendran master, were alltime great. No replacement as long as the universe exists
