Hannah be as bold and beautiful as you want to. I am a Brit living in America and I have seen it all. I am sure with accessories the rust in cotton will fit with your lovely style.
I agree with what you have to say about bullying and happy you are using your platform to express it. As a former educator I made it my mission to address this issue. Roo will adapt, like children they know who loves them. Have a great week, don’t be sad, you are a fabulous dog Mom xx

For being such a young woman and already feeling appreciative about waking up another morning and loving the world and each day of life is such a blessing! I am a 73 year old woman and I must say it took me until well after 60 and retired that I was able to relax enough and slow down enough to appreciate life and each morning I wake up is another beautiful day here on earth and to make the most of every minute of it! Don’t loose that appreciative feeling because life will treat you well with a positive attitude like that!

Hi Hannah, I just wanted to take a moment to say how much I appreciate your videos. It’s become my Sunday night ritual, putting my son to bed and having a bit of me time, having a cup of tea and popping on your channel. Your recent story about your experience with bullying really resonated with me, and I just wanted to send you love and support. It takes so much strength to share something so personal, and I admire your courage in doing so. Not a lot was done when I was at school either, I’m a similar age to you…it’s quite awful looking back really. I hope times have changed and the children of today are more kind and understanding 🤍
Thank you for creating a space that feels uplifting and genuine. Love your videos and the gorgeous Cotswolds.
    Love from Australia x

Hi Hannah - huge fan here. And dog person too. Give the situation with Roo some time. Big changes take time, even for little dogs. Keep doing what you're doing and things will evolve. I'd advise against another dog, at least for the moment. That would complicate things further. Borrow Poppy and have her and Roo at home with you, when you can. Eventually Roo will realize it's home. ❤

Hi Hannah, so sorry you are having a struggle with Roo. My recommendation is to give Roo a real chance to settle into your new home by not leaving her at your parent’s house unless you are there with her. The more time she spends over there without you probably confuses her about where she belongs. It sounds like a fun atmosphere for her to be with another dog. However, she will adjust if you give her time and do as much as you can not to confuse her about where her home really is.

That was what I was going to say as well. Not to mention dogs are pack animals. Roo had a pack, you and Kenny and herself. Now, Kenny is off at work, and it's the two of you. She has a pack at your parents house. Honestly, getting another small dog or cat for her at your house wouldn't be the worst thing. Just saying.

Dogs don't really get confused like that... they're natural pack animals and very social by nature. I think Hannah has found a perfect solution with going on days with Poppy, and back again. The healthiest thing for a dog is for them to see other people, other dogs and have experiences. A confused dog is a dog that is alone.

Bless you Hannah. I truly understand about Roo. I moved from living near a beach in Wales into a Cheshire town 10 months ago with my senior dog and my adolescent dog. My senior dog accepted the move because she was used to us moving during her life. My adolescent dog became a naughty boy and disliked it all. Then to add to his misery my senior dog went over the Rainbow Bridge at 18 yrs last October. We both still miss her, it is heartbreaking. What I would say is give Roo time to get used to the new house, it doesn't have her smell and familiarity yet. Maybe have her a few days each week and let her stay at your Parents house some days too - just like you did when living in Manchester. It is early days and dogs know how to push our buttons. My naughty boy Bertie has really settled into our new house and loves walking in the park and other fields etc near where we live at last. Good luck, Roo loves you and will settle into her new life and routine, I am sure. Oh and love sticky toffee velvet.

Hi Hannah, My heart goes out to you as you talk about your secondary school experience 😢
I have a 15 year old daughter that's had a miserable time at school with girls that are supposed to be her so called "friends."
She will be leaving the school in the summer to go to another college to do her A levels and we are hoping she has a better time there.

I’m 60 and avidly watch your videos as also live in Wiltshire! With regards to Roo, please don’t give her up, she just needs to adjust to her new home, I’m sure and is probably feeling a little discombobulated at the moment. She absolutely adores you, so just bring her back gradually until she regards being with you as “home” again ❤. As for the rug, for me personally and someone who’s older, the warms rust and darker colours would be my choice. Keep going lovely x you’ll get there! ❤❤❤

I loved the fabric colour that was your favourite! The deep rich colour in the velvet is stunning. I suggest that you absolutely pick the colour that you love without worrying if it will work in future homes - go with what you love and it will work no matter where you live in the future. As for Roo, some dogs just feel happier being in a 'pack' so its nice you let Roo stay with your parents or bring their dog to your place. This happened to my friend's daughter's dog and my friend ended up keeping her.

Oh Hannah, my heart goes out to you. As a teacher, I operated on a zero tolerance for bullying. Every student of mine knew with absolute certainty that they were safe and that I would protect them. I'm so sorry that your teachers didn't do that with you.
As for Roo, as long as she is with your parents most of the time, she's going to think of there as home. Try keeping her with you for longer periods of time, starting small and building up. Make it her place by having her things around. Make it fun for her. Gradually she will begin to think of your house as her home. I understand your heartache, but it's time to reclaim your dog.
And finally, don't be afraid of colour. Follow your instincts. With pale walls, any colour will pop but not overwhelm the space. Having a pale neutral might just look a bit bland.
Best of luck with whatever you decide.

Hello, about your dog. She may not be enjoying your parents as much as you believe. Make sure you’re giving her the same food potion that your parents have given her, along with all of those extra snacks. For example if they’re giving her chicken or giving her some snacks that you’re unaware of just, duplicate what they’re doing at their house and make it the same experience at your house. Also her bedding and food water tray, make it the same in both places.

Also about Roo, my dog is exactly the same when he stays with my brothers dog (his cousin 😅) for a few days. He loves company but i found just getting him into a set routine helps so much. I don’t know if that’s helpful in your situation but just keep persevering and she’ll adapt - it’s still a new home for her too so its all fresh beginning x

I like the tones of the first Dunelm rug. The pattern would also be more forgiving and hide stains(!). You could pick a couple of colours out of it as accents for soft furnishing to give the room a cohesive look. Love russet velvet for a sofa or cushion or chair; it would give the room warmth and make it feel cosy. I also like the olive-y green fabric too.

Hi Hannah, thank you for sharing. Go with what you love and your things will go together. There is no wrong choice in design, be creative and go with what lights you up. Sorry about Roo, stay at parents when she is there. You could have your parents and their dog at yours. She will get it. As far as the bullying, so sorry you went through that. I too was bullied, to this day I won't be unkind, be true to yourself. What is so sad the people who bully don't realize you live with the memory while they probably don't. You can change how you view it. It made you strong, more compassionate, and kind. Take back your strength, and don't let those memories shape the adult you are. Best to you and Roo. It will all work out, have faith.

A grey-toned, textured mushroom fabric for the sofa is a neutral ( yet durable than the first one ) timeless choice that will go with anything….!!! ❤ Plus, you can easily switch out cushion covers with the seasons for a fresh look. If you go for a bolder colour there’s not much that can be changed if you get bored of it.

Awww I’m in a similar position with my dog. She absolutely loves my parents, who are retired and can give her their undivided attention. It used to make me feel a bit sad that she looks upset coming back home with me after spending time with them 🙈. Of course Roo will love spending time with the fun ‘grandparents’ but at the end of the day she’s your dog, you’re her mum and she loves you and I’m sure with time she’ll get over it. She’s probably quite unsettled in your new home too but she’ll get used to it with time. Try not to worry x

I love how you are so thoughtful and grateful. It’s a fantastic reminder. Roo loves you. She needs to adjust to her new home. My advice would be to let her be at your parents during the day on some days/home with you when you are home all day and bring her home at night always. She needs to cuddle and you need to cuddle her. Walks with your parents pup would be a good time to “exchange” her location. As for the fabric . . . I love the velvet but I am not certain you would love it in the long run. I do, however, think you would love the cotton in the rust color way. You could lighten it up with pillows for Spring/Summer and get velvet pillows in the sticky toffee for Fall/Winter. One thing to consider - the colors you use for Christmas. Would the rust color clash? This is the joy and frustration of buying. One thing I will say is - it would be your last couch you purchase in your lifetime. So, go for what your heart desires.❤

Hey Hannah, loved the video as always! It’s so lovely seeing you enjoy countryside life.🤎
For the samples, be brave-go with the color! Your face lit up when you mentioned the amber tones. Velvet will be bolder, while the cotton has more texture, so maybe use velvet for a smaller piece and cotton for a larger one like the sofa. Both are perfect for your home-it’s like bringing the amber shades from your garden inside. You can add beige throws and beige cushions in various textures later on.
In addition to that, for the rug, maybe keep it natural if you’re going bold with the sofa. Jute or a natural fiber could work well-check out Alternative Flooring or Crucial Trading, I think you’ll find something lovely.
And about Roo-I totally get it. She’s probably just adjusting to the new house. Maybe connecting with neighbors who have dogs could help her feel more settled. Give her time, she’ll get there!
Thanks for another lovely Sunday vlog!
    Kisses, Stephany

We as dog lovers are guilty of anthropomorphism. We think the dog thinks like us. They don't! They will ultimately be out for number one, themselves. At the moment she doesn't know where home is, her boundaries. Her routine isn't established. Less time spent with Poppy and your parents until she finally settles into her place. Good luck.

I think with the sticky toffe or the other darker colour options, if you add some accessoires throughout the room with that same colour it will go really well with a lot of the neutral tones and whites. Just a touch here and there can go a long way. And perhaps a lighter pillow on the couch to get the neutrals back to the couch.
Hope Roo will settle soon. It can take some time with animals especially since your new place is similar to your parents, the same nature and such.

So sorry to hear about the difficulties with Roo. I moved from a house to a flat last year as my relationship went south and I really felt at first like my dog disliked the flat and wouldn’t ever consider it home. It’s been 7 months now and he is way more relaxed. We are getting there.
I think Roo enjoys the familiarity of your parents house coupled with the attention and furry playmates.
It’s hard to know what to do but as others have said, she’s missing Kenny too, so a new home is a big adjustment. I think more time with you will settle it all down, not easy when she’s very clear about her preference. 😢 good luck with it all. She still loves you just as much as ever, just needs to feel more at home in your new house I think. X

Get Roo a cat or another dog. They love buddies, most of the time. Pet's are like children, life I think should revolve around them. I think having another pet for Roo is the best thing you could do for her, it would keep her company and would extend her life. If you need to travel, have a pet sitter stay at your home or better yet, ask you parents to stay at your home. The goal is to acclimate her to your new home. Maybe have a few things of your parent's at your home so their sent is also at your home. Dogs especially, are social animals and they like playmates. It is hard I am sure. My heart would be breaking too.
As for the rugs, I would purchase my furniture first unless of course you find a rug you can not live without and then select the furniture to go with the rug. If you have found furniture you love then buy the rug last. I think the gorgeous green velvet would be stunning and timeless and I do love the rust color as well. I do not think you could go wrong with either of those colors and they could take the pet traffic you will have.
Good luck in your decision making.

I love that you are talking about bullying in school. Im sorry you went through that. My daughter had it bad in 7th and 8th grade. The school talked with the offenders and their parents but that wasn't enough, it continued. I pulled her out and homeschooled her but she is lonely now & misses things. The bullying still haunts her and she is in therapy at 17. She said kids would single her out and shove her as they left class & make videos of her. She never deserved any of it and there seems to be no protection for kids like her in public schools. My daughter has excessive hormones and has more facial hair and boyish looks. She shaved her face but could'nt hide her prominent male appearance.

In my experience, cats and dogs love a busy household full of people and activity. If I were you I would allow Roo to live at your parents' house and just visit her there regularly and take her for walks. It sounds like she adores it there.

Absolutely loved your message of gratuity for life and its many wonders in the car… so nice to hear and see you radiating joy/pure alignment as you spoke here. Infectious! ❤️
My heart also goes out to you regarding the Roo situation, I’d be in bits if my fur baby evidently felt that way but I just want to say thank you for taking her preferences and feelings in to account even if it’s hurts. A lot if people I find tend to have little to no consideration for their pet’s feelings etc if it’s inconvenient to them, but you willing to move Roo for her sake if need be, no matter how much it hurts, shows that you genuinely care and love her, and she no doubt loves you all the more!

I don't have any advice for you about Roo. But I can say something about the sofa and fabric. You should choose the fabric that you are in love with even if it is not the most practical choice. Every time you see it , it should make you smile. I have had the habit of always doing the safe or sensible thing. Like buying white mugs for example because oh its easy when one breaks you can always get white mugs and even if the size is a bit smaller they more or less look the same.
And everytime I use them I think about the ones I actually wanted. So I started buying pretty mugs, just one of any mug that I love and the different colours and shapes bring me joy! That makes a big difference.
    I hope that helps. 💜💜💜

Hey Hannah! I love the suede options for the sofas olive or the rust color and you can add lighter colors to break it up with lighter pillows and throws! I think dark moody pieces are classic and help shape a room. I can totally understand your emotions with Roo! growing up with dogs I get so emotional just give it time with her and you will know what's best 🧡 Totally agree with your views on the whole school thing and children, as someone who also would get super anxious and dread when anything involving choosing partners was involved and constantly feeling singled out-- it's hard to ever forget it. I say my guilty pleasure is love island too haha I never watch shows like this but I get sucked in! Wishing you a lovely week ahead xx

I feel the same way you do so grateful for where I live. My sister and I along with the help of our parents bought a condo in a really nice part of Chatham Ontario here in Canada. We bought before the prices got really expensive. We still have a mortgage on the condo, but between my sister and I its doable. We have a gorgeous view of the trees out back from our patio window along with a part of the college campus. I feel so grateful. I don't take one day in this condo forgranted and enjoy every day to the fullest. Its also so peaceful and quiet here most of the day and night. Love❤ your videos. So inspiring.

Love the warmer colors in the velvet. Very cottage like and they would blend nicely with the first rug. They are very forgiving colors for dirt or stains….remember you can get slipcovers later to change up also there are some very nice overlay dog protection covers that leave the base furniture exposed but cover the high traffic areas.

Hey girly! Would highly recommend getting a durable rug with a fur baby. Something like Jute is really great for a busy home. I would also say if your going for the vintage look to get a cotton or again jute rug with a pattern on it. The texture alone will bring lots of warmth to your home! Plus they’re not crazy expensive. I have a cotton striped rug and I put it through my laundry and wash it when it has stains and it comes back clean!

I totally understand your predicament with Roo, we love our pets, they are part of our family, so we are concerned when they are not happy. You are doing your best and putting her first. You’re a loving fur baby mom. My cat constantly wants my attention, but I have to work. Luckily, cats like to sleep a lot. I just take a lot of time after work and the weekends to spend with him. Maybe if Roo has a lot of toys and blankets, spread it around the house so he can get his scent. You literally just moved in so you’re not feeling so at home either, he might be sensing you. Animals are sensitive to energy so he could be sensing other energy there. Maybe sage the house. Do some ceremony.
Regarding your rugs, I loved the rust/red one - I tend to favor bold colors. But that one’s faded and it looks very cottagie. I also loved the rust color for your couch. They will blend. How do you feel when you see the colors? Red is grounding. Good luck. Thanks for all the outdoor filming. What a beautiful area.

Hi Hannah, happy Sunday from Sue in the Swansea Valley! You're such a breath of fresh air. I love watching your videos and seeing how you do life in the Cotswolds. I went to Cotswolds for my mini moon last year and fell in love with the place. I went to Stow, Lower Slaughter, chippen Campden and Broadway. We did go to a few other places. We are going back for our anniversary. Can't wait!
With regards to the rug, definitely the first one, this will look lovely with the sticky toffee colour sofa. All the warm tones and the light in the room gleaming through the window. Beautiful! I hope you manage to settle Roo into your beautiful home. I don't have a dog so I can't give much advice.
What you said in the car about being grateful to live another day, I really resonate with this. We should all slow down and take a moment to be grateful to see another day. As we are not guaranteed tomorrow.xx

Hi Hannah… on the rug topic. I think the first one is working well. Especially with the colour of flooring. You could style with some Bordeaux cushions and deco bits which would go well with rug and floor. I can see it coming together nicely. love your videos and don’t worry about Roo just keep bringing him to the new house he’ll get used to it. It takes time for them to adjust .. don’t give up

I do love a dark sofa, for practical reasons to be honest (dogs, tea etc etc) I have brown leather and I have opted to have cushions that are cream with different textures, to brighten it up. I have a lighter rug also. 😢Today’s modern aesthetic leans towards the whites and neutrals but I think a darker sofa can bring contrast and warmth to it…But you have to go with your heart, what else you have in the space and how it will work in your home. Have fun!

Hannah, absolutely loved this video update of lots of little things. A nice catch up on things important to you right now. Too is transitioning, completely understandable. Be patient with her. Perhaps you consider adding a companion pet for her? Excited to see furnishings. I’m not crazy about either rug but I’m very particular. I bought a cream sofa. Loved it but eventually regretted it for the reasons you mentioned it. My advice, pick a safe color and durable fabric. Maybe the gray green one?

I love the dark green and both reds! It seems like you really like the sticky toffee…I think you should go for it! The color is beautiful and I think would translate well in any space. As someone with a cream couch and a cat, I wish I would have gone with a darker color…it gives a lot more peace of mind and is less stressful to maintain.

I’m not one to normally comment, but I do have almost the exact same scenario as you! I have retired in-laws that dote upon my dogs to the point of them preferring being with them. It’s worse with our older dog, since he loves routine and long walks so much that it’s just hard for me to give him when I work all day (at home). I don’t have a lot of advice, but I totally understand your feelings!
What does sort of work for us (because theirs is still 2 hours away) is that we have a very specific routine for getting ready to drop the dogs off, so they always know when a visit is coming. For our dog that loves routine- he likes knowing what to expect and over time has stopped moping so much. Though he does get extremely excited still when he realizes we’re getting ready. I try my best to not take it too personally haha.

I would definetly go with your favourite color with the toffee! either in velvet or cotton, both lovely. I feel like colors are more impressive in small swatches than when you see the whole piece. Same for paint color, always looks darker on the little swatch than applied in the whole room i feel.
otherwise the greens and mushrooms are also lovely. i have a very dark red velvet sofa for a few years and it is so forgiving with stains and brings so much warmth!
I hope the situation with Roo will get better once she is used to the new house, she is the cutest litlle dog ❤

Hello Hannah. Bullying will always happen, my sister was bullied, and lost confidence throughout her teens and in her 20’s, my nephew was also bullied and the headteacher informed, when there part of his original friends it harder to stop it. He changed school and is happy. More should be done at schools, and taken very seriously, unfortunately not “all” schools act on it!
I think Roo will settle once she understands her home with you and that your parents home is a weekly visit, and a treat. Sofa I love velvet, it’s cosy yet doesn’t age, the two colours I like is the burnt orange and greeny colour. Take care till next week. X

Dear Hannah, I was moved when you mentioned how isolated you felt at school, as I felt exactly the same during most of my school years. I bet if we were in the same school, we would have become best friends, we have a lot in common 🩷 Also, I absolutely love your calm vlogs in the Cotswolds! I visited the Cotswolds with my fiancé during our (dream come true) trip to England last June, and it felt like we were walking through the pages of a fairytale storybook. It brings back the best memories when I watch your videos. I hope you find a solution for Roo, I believe your love for her can conquer any problems.

Hi Hannah - I like a green - Tea Bag or Wine Bottle - green is so neutral - brings the outside in - looks great next to wood and plants too. Also velvet is so durable - you can scrub it if you need to and is also soft and comfy and will age well in time. If you hold green up and walk around your home you will see how neutral it is. Its also calming and won't bring the space in - a change but still classic - the Tea Bag colour is a bit of a departure from what you usually get but not too much. I would get the sofa first and then the rug. Sisal would work in there - you can get stain resistant sisal rugs. Sorry to hear about your dog x

Sofas can be a big statement peice so if you absolutely love the reds, then go with that. The sofa can stand out in a room and every time you look at it you'll fall in love with it. Also consider the fact that if you gravitate towards that color, then that will naturally flush out in your overall style over the years as you find more peieces. So my advice is go with what you love, not what you think fits right now.
