  • First and foremost, Slàinte Mhath to all our Scottish subscribers, we hope you had a suitably raucous Burns Night last weekend 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿
We have all the F's for you today in our first February episode ladies and gentlemen!
Join us in this edition as we give you an update on all things Duncombe House Diaries from our renovations to our growing family of animals. Furthermore prepare to be introduced not only to Jazzy's mother, but also my father. We are also compelled, once again, to request your help as we begin the daunting, but spine tinglingly exciting task, of designing the interior of Duncombe House.
Seeing as you were all so complimentary of the dog walk chapter in our last episode we've decided to sneak in another one for you all to enjoy.
Thank you ever so much as always for being a part of our growing and eternally positive community, please do like, subscribe and nourish us with your comments.

Having followed you on instagram, I am able to now cook in the comfort of my kitchen (not nearly as historic and dignified as yours Will be) and listen to your antics in these long form videos of comedy. I adore you both. I thank you immensely. I think the Jack/Stewie voice has now become my internal monologue, which I so welcome. Thank you Jazzy and Jack! Your videos are simply scrumptious! I adore the narrator’s witty use of the Queen’s English. I am sure you are firm friends with the local antiques dealers, tell them you are on the lookout for a chimney surround of the same era as the house, they might be able to help you. I would start on the downstairs toilet/bathroom, comfort is important whilst renovating. (And someone will eventually spot you behind that bush..). Afterwards I would tackle either the dining room, or the sitting room- so that you can have a room that is finished and decorated and furnished, it will bring a huge sense of achievement and an actual place to wind down.

    • @Ladybug-uf7uh
      @Ladybug-uf7uh 6 дней назад +8

Makes complete sense: a house without a toilet/bathroom is right on the edge of barbaric. Then a place to forget the horrors of the day the sitting room. Just my opinion after many renovations here in the US of A.

The WC is a manageable size to hone one's building and restoration skills. Not to mention any mistakes will (hopefully) be in proportion to the room! Doing that room will also mean you will have to plan out the plumbing for the entire house - and THAT is an extremely important piece of the 3D puzzle.

Dear Sir, thank you for sharing your time at the museum. You had me in tears there for a few moments. So many objects were familiar, items from my grandparent’s home. Items they had brought with them when they set up housekeeping here in California (both having been citizens from Canada). They arrived here in California after grandfather served in Her Majesties Army during WWI. Over the years, everything they owned was saved, restored or repurposed. And for sure, the hardware store you spotlighted definitely looked just like my grandfather's workshop. Your video today was a kind reminder of my time with them and their make do and mend lifestyle, long walks with dogs, log burning fireplaces and times of absolute quiet, except for a few birds chirping here and there. Best to you from sunny California where it was 70°F / 21°C today.

I love your videos. So good to see the puppers have a mud wallow. I think you are underestimating the function of the kitties. Not only do they provide good pest control services, but they are usually quite decorative. With the exception of the visits to the kitty-loo, cats' poses add more to the decor than designer pillows. I always loved to come home on a cold winter day to the cats cuddling on the sofa-- so homey!

I actually squealed a little when I saw you had a new video. The chapter opener is my favorite, I could watch those trees in the breeze with the cheerful miss marple music all day.
These rooms with their curves, hard to pick a favorite but I'd get in the WC and Lounge first. Gotta have a place to clean up and rest after all the hard work.
I am so glad you will take your time. It will be done well, if not always right.
Onward intrepid restorers! I'm in for the long haul.
Slainte! And a huzzah to your dad and the museum.

I absolutely adored the ASMR walk because the countryside is incredibly beautiful and it's a real joy to see the dogs running around and being so free. Also, still love the chapters! Haggis looked amazing! And yes, to the lovely English breakfast tutorial. I think you should start with a front room because of the light. I like the idea of working in rooms where there is natural light. Anyway, whatever you choose will be fabulous, I'm sure. Thank you for the brilliant museum tour! Regarding the glacial pace of your renovation:
    1. It makes it only more enjoyable when you take the time to also look at history, landscaping, handicrafts etc. 😊
    2. Much more importantly, your approach of a sympathetic renovation deserves the biggest of applauses! Only in that way it can be ensured that nothing is overseen, destroyed in a rush or not taken care of to prevent future damages! By moving slowly, you can act considerately and cauciously and thereby make sure to have minimal intrusion and maximal preservation of valuable historic fabric. 🎉

I think the floral piece of card is an old cigarette card, they used to include them in the packet, and you were meant to send off for the booklet into which you'd stick the card and collect the whole series. I think it mentions on the card that it was a set of 50? (they also used to do something similar in packs of tea)
