Nice tut! Did it myself for the first time but you have to be careful. The digitizer on mine was broken into many tiny pieces and more difficult to peel off. I have used a hairdryer and a credit card. Don't use a knife (or other small sharp object) because you can easily damage the coating of the screen (like I did at the corner of the screen to make a beginning to peel off)! In my case not a real problem, just a tiny part however be careful. Peeling off the case (do this first) also needs some attention, I used the same credit card for it however don't push it to far into the case because you can rip off or damage a flat cable when hooked onto it. Clean everything with alcohol, removing dust and residue, before placing the new digitizer.
The new digitizer is sticky, very sticky. Be sure there is no dust around and screen is dust free. Because the home button came off when removing the old digitizer, I didn't know the exact location of the home button. Better use some tape on the hole of the homebutton, on front of the digitizer and put the homebutton into place on the backside so it will stick to the tape on the front to keep it into place. Now you can place the very sticky digitizer (with home button at once), I did it from left to right, start on the left and lift it down carefully, watch the flat cable when doing this (it must be below the screen and into the hole in the casing) and verify it's horizontal angle. Be careful, when you make a mistake it is very difficult to peel it off and start all over, do it slowly, very slowly.
After this I connect the wire to the connector, be gentle to handle this connector, easy to break, put some tape on the connectors and also on the flatcable itself like the other cables. This is to avoid (when you have to do it again or other reason) it is possible to hook onto this cable when taking it apart again.
Just post my experience here hopefully to be useful to anyone else.

Thank you so much! I needed to replace the LCD screen, and this solved the issue for me, as removing the digitizer gave me instant access to the LCD screen. That changeout was simple as can be.
i got it repaired like 3 weeks ago for $100, now it's destroyed worse than last time and I'm not spending that much again 3 weeks later! This helped so much, maybe i'm a mess
A rubber case helps
I used to the see how to open the screen connector's buckle, if I had not seen this video I might have tried opening it the wrong way and made thing worse. Didn't solve my issue but the method is solid haha, thanks
thanks a lot for vid. was a bit afraid but it works just like in the vid. you saved me a fortune + i learned something. 2 notes though. be carefull so you dont accidently push some of the glue onto the lcd while you remove the digitizer. I did that accidently when i was talkning a corner. easy to get of though. and 2'nd i almost killed The homebutton. be carefull when you are closed to that one when you remove the digitizer. apart from that. awsome tutorial!
just take off the screen according the instructions, works fantastic, at first i was under the glass but after a 2nd look at the video I continued the right way under th adhesive tape... I downloaded this instruction for later use...

Very very helpful video. By the way, is this the only way to extract the touchscreen? In most 7" chinese tablet I prefer to remove the mainboard, display and battery and leave the touch with the front cover. Only 3 screws off. The part when your bussines card get inside between the display and touch chills me out!

I'm holding one of these in my hands and seeing how easy it is to open, I'm scared.
if your screen gets dark and staticy does that mean one of the connections came loose? Because the screen isnt cracked and it shows all signs of life besides that i cant see anything, the touch screen still works.

what were your symptoms before the repair?
mine has a cracked screen AND no images on the screen. it was cracked next to the home button, technically off the image area of the screen.
does this definitely mean that the lcd and digitizer/glass both have to be replaced? can the glass/digitizer cracked cause a "no image" symptom?

So my tab 4 glass screen isnt broken no cracks or anything of the sort. The image however is d8storted. Certain parts of the screen the image may be fuzzy and other spots image maybe split. Does this have to do with the digitizer as well or do i have a different issue?

No but you can use a blow dryer if you don't have a heat gun.
in fact, i did it with a iron to wax snow board and it worked pretty whell

I did a search for a SM-T520. This is not a T520! Totally different. Maybe you could have specified the model! My lcd and dgitizer are glued together.

The black part that's directly beneath the glass broke :( what is it called? Can I buy one of those? I was able to remove the shattered glass on my tablet but the black thing broke because it was so glued to the shattered glass it was impossible to remove it without breaking the black thing

Battery life seems good. In short I'm very pleased with it

I have a Tab 4 SM-330NU 8.0", does the digitizer come off the same way? I know the 3 has the glue all the way across the screen, but it looks like on the 4 10.1" it doesn't. So I'm hoping the 8.0" is the same as the 10.1 and not the 3.
***** I've found the replacement digitizer, and it appears to come without the LCD, it's the same as the part you replace in this video. It's just that no one seems to specify if the whole screen is glued or just the border.

Your cable might not be connected rite or you'll need a new digitizer

The entire screen of the digitizer was covered in adjesive. Took me 2 hours to clean entire screen. just making sure I'm doing it right let me know thanks

Careful about the power cable. I took out the entire harness and had to soldier it back

I did everything as shown and swipe wouldn't work properly. Redid ribbon tape connector and got nothing..no indication of function. It was worse. Reinserted ribbon twice more. Got the indication and bubbles but no full swipe capability or turn off functions. Touchscreen is defective new sometimes or what?
Just fixed my sisters tablet and it went well but I messed up a little bit cuse I accidentally touched the glue and now it wouldn't stick but it is sticking a little, is there anything that I can do to fix that ??

That sounds like one of the cables in the back is slightly loose. Mine did that, and I just opened the back and made sure both cables were connected tightly. Fixed my issue.

Not that easy. The guy on the video seems to be used to it. I've tryed to change the glass of my tablet on my own and when I finally changed it and when I have switched on the tablet the screen underneath doesn't work any more. Don't do it your self, very bad idea. This tutorial seems very easy, but it is not for a rookie.
