This might be one of their best albums to date, it's so much more adventurous and daring than their past work sonically speaking. And this is saying something considering Goths.
the Fact that this comes out on my Birthday is Just a Coinsidence right!?. this will be the Greatest Gift ever.. @@pjmmccann "Cadaver-sniffing dog" means a dog that sniffs cadavers. "Cadaver sniffing dog" can also mean a cadaver is sniffing a dog, and I think that image is probably better suited for the Goths album than this one :-)
Hmm, maybe you modified your comment: I could have sworn it concerned the lack of a possessive indicator, and not the connecting hyphen. Ah well: agree 100% on the hyphen :-)
Oh man, this is good. After Younger I feared we had another case of 'one irresistible song and the rest is mediocre' like i felt with Goths. But here I am listening to this. I could not be happier!
There were maybe 3 mediocre tracks on Goths, but I'd be super hard pressed to cast nearly every song on that album into that category. With tracks at the beginning, like Andrew eldritch, we do it different, and unicorn tolerance, bringing a fun light-hearted goth energy, and later tracks, like wear black, shelved, rage of travers, and portuguese, giving an angsty, depressing turn, all book ended nicely between the super angsty rain in soho and the uplifting but sadly whimsical abandoned flesh, I'd say it's definitely one of their best. And undoubtedly one of their more conceptual albums.
@@lorebroker52 Fair enough, rain in soho is an incredible track. I would definitely suggest a close listen of wear black though. In my opinion it's one of the band's best
This is the best song about cadaver sniffing dogs I've ever heard.

Army crawlers down ash-wet floor
Ready for war
Veterans on their hands and knees
Nobody's ready for days like these
Wait till you come upon the smoking wreck
Even then you check
Radio home all clean
If there were any survivors, they fled the scene

"Cadaver Sniffing Dog" debuted at #37 on the New Alternative 40 Chart this week.
This is so much boppier than I expected based on the live version.
Cool.
John is getting out of his comfort zone in the best freaking way possible.
This song has no right to feel as serene as it does
Thank you for this song, hits me.
That guitar solo is so great, I just wish there was more of it.
This is amazing. Thank god for John Darnielle.
Thank John Darnielle for god!

space opera pls
it’s gotta be a juggalo album
@@gendertoads Today on Things I Didn't Know I Wanted Until This Very Moment: THIS.
Can someone point me to the song about big tiddy goth girls pls
@@bbspooks He's just referring to 'Goths', the last album.
Daddy, sing me a song from your time: "Bring in the cadaaaaveeeer...sniffing dog!!"
This is going to be amazing

This is fantastic! So different from their other albums! I cannot wait for April!
Great track! I am looking forward to my Hardcore Vinyl copy!

Trying to recall the last extensive use of a synth on a Mountain Goats record since "Blues In Dallas"
I am trying to make a list of them, currently I have found five
You’re right. You’re absolutely right.
This goes hard
Owen Pallett fans out here surviving on fumes with these strings. Great song for real though.
I know this comment is 2 weeks old but oh my god, same
I just saw this. awesome Johnny!
This song feels like the song of experienced guardsmen in an Adventurer City in a tabletop style setting.
ti amo
i love this song title
good stuff
I LOVE IT
Pretty nice song. Love it.
There's a... A guitar solo in this song???
I am sure there are other Mountain Goats songs with guitar solos in them but I struggle to think of any!
They once brought in Erik Rutan from Morbid Angel to play a solo on The Best Death Metal Band Out of Denton. Does that count?
They had a sax solo in "Younger". This album is going to be sooo good!
Lovecraft in Brooklyn had a big one
See America Right probably. And some extra glenns/lens stuff. A rare treat nonetheless.
@@grahamkristensen9301 That's so sick wtf, I need to stop being a fake mountain goats fan apparently
1:48 for the guitar solo
The drums at 1:32 do it for me
The guitar & bass make me think of super early Cure
The guitar sounds like the one on "Blood"
I was thinking Jumping Someone Else's Train, style wise
Sounds like someone got stabbed in the eye with a foreign object.
Why are you so xenophobic?
@@hoodwink578 I do not understand what is xenophobic about this. Please explain.
Why's the object gotta be foreign? That's pretty ignorant chief.
Learned to love this kinda atmosphere

yessssss
Omg omg omg omg
far too excited about this album.
Sniff it real good.
reminds me of Prowl Great Cain. anyone?
It's National Grammar Day for heaven's sake--Please add the hyphen to this title!

@@@kobyhaigerty3157: I should have added that I am no big fan of the band. I just loved Rain in Soho - it was my song of the year!

Yes! I couldn't believe how amazing Rain in Soho was when I was exploring their music. Sadly I couldn't find any other songs like that...
