  • The Tepemechín is a fish species native to many regions of the world and one we like to target throughout Costa Rica. It provides anglers the opportunity to engage with some of the most beautiful landscapes you can imagine all while targeting a fish that eats dry flies, nymphs, and small streamers. What is not to like!

Here in Puerto Rico, you can find these fish pretty much in every single river system on the island, we call them "Dajao".

Never heard of these beautiful fish so I looked them up.
    Wiki said they're
    Dajaus monticola.
Telated to mullet and are called mountain mullet in English.
Wiki entry said they're found from north Carolina south to central America and on a few Caribbean islands.
Any one here ever seen these fish being in the US?

Yeah it is pretty much a glorified creek chub.

Jesse, I am moved by your commentary. Not all of us fish for trophies and bragging rights. Some of us do it for the love of interacting with nature and walking away as we found it.
