Hi Wallie...going to roll the dice here, but at age 68, I am going to bet that I am your oldest subscriber...can'r explain exactly why I am hooked on your videos, but I think it is the fact that you are genuine, and I like your approach, with a great mix of serious and humorous...keep up the great work, and i will continue to explore with you from the safety of my recliner...😎
Rite aid is still a independent company. Walgreens just bought a few stores. They just did a reverse stock split where the NYSE wouldn't delist them.
*_Awesome tour, Wallie! Our Rite Aid in Foxborough closed rather quickly just recently too._*
*_That day at Toys R Us was so awesome! So is just about every exploration we go on together! Can't wait for the next one!_*
Richard, there is a bunch of abandoned places up here near Grand Rapids, MI that would be awesome too see you and Wallie do videos off. One is a furniture store that closed a few years ago, that can see inside super easilly! We also have a Wittmark that has been abandonded since they closed over 20 years ago. Also a abandoned Hot N' Now, shopping center that I don't even remember anything being in it along with other places. Including a recently abandonded Tim Hortons and even a Dunkin Dohnuts. No idea why Tim Hortons closed but was not open that long. I think one Auto Zone moved (abandoned building and lots of other places.
@@KC8EWU *_I'd love to take a trip up that way one of these days as I've never been there before. If I can convince Wallie to come with me sometime, we could make a weekend out of it._*
@@RichardDremdenWolf that would be sweet! There are also two Toys R Us that of course are closed, Sears Auto Center and even a pair of Kmarts (one used too be south end of a former mall, Montgomery Wards anchored the other end, Main part of mall is now a Lowes and had a good arcade at one time}
@@RichardDremdenWolf one word that might help too convince you, Kara (k or c? Thats also name of my 11 yr old neice!l
Niece that is. The word: Hills! Yes we had one up here at one time. I think a Harbor Freight is in it now. It had sat empty for quite some time and had pop up shops off and on. One that was in there, it smelled musty as could be as only maybee a quarter of a quarter of the spot was used.
There is a Walgreens near me (Indianapolis) that closed about four years ago. The power is still on and the shelves are still up. It looks like it closed yesterday.
It's crazy how this rite aid closed without warning wow! Thanks for another awesome video Wallie.
Cool video man, thanks for sharing this with us. Stay awesome
Another great video I loved how you could hear the thinder in the background. It is crazy how they just quietly close up these stores with no warning at all
That is a fire alarm annunciator you are looking at through the door Wallie. The green led means that their is still electricity coming to the main fire alarm panel and system. The actual alarm system keypad is probably located inside the store, probably by the customer service office off to the the corner of the lane of registers.
The Thunder is Awesome!
2:05 RIP Toys R Us.......:... The Feels........ 😢
All our RiteAids in South Carolina closed abruptly to. Some of them are now WalGreens and others are now Family Dollars
Wallieb26: it's raining
Me: guess it's called Raining Aid?
Wallieb26 : 🤣
We have a mall that closed in 2011 but the only store that was left from the mall was the JCPenny
That drive through area with the tube that ur prescription goes in then shoots up into the pharmacy is cool . Never saw that @ the rite aid I go .
Nice video. The Rite Aids in my area have all closed. A couple of them have been repurposed as Family Dollar stores and one has become a CVS. At least they aren't sitting vacant.
THE ONE BY ME BECAME A MARIJUANA GROW OPERATION
Another great video Wallie. Thanks for braving the elements for us! Perfect background music for this video would have been the classic AC/DC track "Thunderstruck" hmm? Anyone? If not for the obvious flagrant copyright infringement :(. You put a lot of work into your craft here and it shows, and is greatly appreciated Sir. Stay awesome..
Awesome video eventhough it was raining. You really love what you do. Neither rain nor snow or sleet...
Two Rite AIds in my area shut down suddenly like this. I walked by one and saw a few seniors cursing and angry their prescriptions are now at the Stop and Shop which you have to take a bus to.
Several years ago if you remember Walgreens was going to merge with Rite Aid, either turning stores to their nameplate or shutting them down completely. The Feds said NO, anti trust issues. THey reached a different deal where Walgreens bought hundreds of stores, not the whole chain, and comverted some to Walgreens, some just named the pharmacy Walgreens and shut more than most down. The bad thing is the poor and seniors who have to go further distances or to other phramacies that are more expensive. I bet Giant Eagle is pricey.
On another note: cant wait for your lost video of Century III
Many former closed Rite Aid stores have become Walgreens locations here in the North Georgia/Atlanta area btw..
Odd thing about that is where I live. there is a Walgreens and Rite Aid very close too each other, just a couple minutes apart in same small town!
Know what you mean, same around here..
Andy Tichenor I think all rite aid stores are now Walgreens. At least where I live in Maine.
In China Grove, NC: The former Eckerd/Rite Aid had turned into a Walgreens last year. However, in the downtown area there's an independent pharmacy called China Grove Drug Co., which is still in business, and a local Food Lion on Main Street has a pharmacy department.
@@KC8EWU In my area, there were many intersections that had a Walgreens, Eckerds, and K&B drugstore along with a supermarket that often had a pharmacy. Eckerds became CVS and K&B became Rite Aid. The Rite Aid stores in my area have all closed and a couple have been repurposed as Family Dollar and one has become a CVS. I think the reason the Rite Aids here closed was because of the deal with Walgreens. I don't think any were converted because it seems like near every Rite Aid, there was already a Walgreens and a CVS literally on the opposite corner!
Wallie That Rite Aid Store looks like it was originally an Eckerd Drugs Store prior to Rite Aid Corp's purchase of Eckerd Drugs due to the signage out front being a circle sign. Stay Awesome!!!!!!
Awesome video wallie!
2:05 *Sees the Toys "R" Us*
*Drinks Vodka*
I'M FUCKED UP!
there was a Rite Aid that was Newley built in Claremont, NH a few yrs ago......then, less than a yr latter, it moved about a 1/2 mile down the road....... :P
That Rite Aid looked opened last week, I passed it on 51 to do a catering for Qdoba a week ago and it was still open. I'm wondering why they abruptly shut their doors
All of our rite aid in Connecticut turned into Walgreens pharmacies! But that happened well over a year and a half ago.
That thing that you thought was the alarm panel is actually a fire alarm annunciator. Green means on and normal condition
Thanks for the info!
WallieB26 no problem. Keep up the good work on the videos. I really enjoy your content
Good video. Thanks for filming.
That thunder adds some nice effect. Hmm that building across from this closed Rite Aid looks familiar. Oh wait the Century 3 mall. I can't remember is there a Walgreens near this closed Rite Aid?
I'm not sure if there is or not on the Walgreens.
@@WallieB26 Pretty sure there's a Walgreens bout half a mile up Rt. 51, at Bill Green Center...
Our Long John Silvers just closed out of the blue last Monday. Management came in and said shut it down. Had dumpsters there within the hour and tore everything out. It’s in Kittanning if you want to check it out!
The whole Pittsburgh area is just kind of falling apart. It's depressing honestly
Whenever chains announce closures, Pittsburgh is usually one of the first cities to be on the list
Will do! Thanks for the heads up!
This was especially true with all the Kmarts we had that we lost in the last 4 years.
Awesome video Wallie B!
There’s an abandoned Rite Aid in East McKeesport now too. And a couple of miles down the road, the North Versailles King’s also closed recently. There’s an abandoned Marathon station right in front of it. What a mess.
The Rite Aide sign shape, by the street, looks like it could have been a former Exerts. Nice video!!!
At 1:46, the automatic door decals on the outside door are on top of the glass separator, but inside doors have them below it.
That place looks like a decent place to hold-up in during the Zom-Poc.
Fantastic video! It's a shame that Century III Mall is mostly closed now. I'm sure this Rite Aid store was fantastic.
Cool video thanks for sharing!😉
Another a+ vid walie!
I had a Rite Aid store, and NO IT WAS NOT FREE STANDING! It was next to a laundromat and another pharmacy (Leroy Pharmacy). It had its red sign, and was originally painted blue (and eventually brown in 2018, months before closure) when it opened in 2008 (which replaced an Eckard). The store also closed on February 6th this year, and I feel bad because it was close by my house. Across the street lies restaurants, a Chase bank, a Mets supermarket, clothing stores, and mobile provider retailers (like ones for Boost and Metro[PCS] by T-Mobile.) There's no there businesses as they're all surrounded by houses and apartment buildings (possibly including one hotel).
WOW AN OLD ONE!!
Awesome video wallie
They closed that location a few months ago. I drive past there often cause i live right up the road. It was a great Rite Aid.
Look inside the Rite Aid at 7:52. Back there you could see a few signs which tell you what's on the shelves on the shelves are still sitting there. AND YOU DIDN'T NOTICE AND WALKED AWAY SAYING THAT THERE'S "...not much to see in there."
Alot of Rite Aids have been closing up lately. Saw 2 of em go within a week here in Jersey
That happened to the Rite aid in brewer Maine. One day it was open and with out notice it closed its doors. The sad part is that was my #1 drug store. I loved going in and buying cool stuff and know its gone and we are know bein over taken by STUPID Walgreens. That store is nothing compared to Rite Aid. And we might also be losing our Mall in Bangor ME cause they sold it to someone and we do not know if its going to stay a mall or what. But they have lost a lot of stores and the mall is know becoming a dead mall. Its sad that the malls we all got to hang out in and have loads of fun in as teens are going to be a thing of the past. Nothing makes you feel old until a young kid ask me what's a mall? I am like OMG I am old and I am only 36 :( Man I wish I could go back to the 80's and 90's. But at least I was lucky and got to grow up during that time and I got to enjoy the stuff kids know will never get to do. But if I could go back and enjoy it all over again I would say point me to the next time thing and I am off. Anyways love all your videos. Keep safe and may god watch over and protect you during your travles.
Nice post and I agree with you wholeheartedly
There was an abandoned Family Dollar in Colorado Springs That was empty with a sign that said “This Location is closed.Incase of emergency contact number. This Location is alarmed and monitored. There is nothing a value in this store”
The contract Rite Aid had with the building owner probably expired and they couldn't come up with an agreement to renew it.
Rite Aid is now Walgreens.
Rite aid no longer exist it’s Walgreens they are slowly changing them over and closing them
@@tonybulley5888 There still could have been a disagreement behind the scenes
Logan Wheeler could be but highly doubtful they are just closing them left and right
@@tonybulley5888 I have 2 10 minutes from my house in opposite directions and I haven't heard if they are going anywhere. I'll have to play it by ear.
I went to Century 3 yesterday to go take a look around. Only JCPenney is open now, the mall itself is condemned. I had never gotten the chance to go there before and I was very disappointed that I couldn't get into the actual mall
Yeah, its ashame its closed now. I would love to get back into that mall though!
@@WallieB26 You think the owners would let us inside if we talked to them and told them what we do?
The interior inside still feels like 2004/05 Brooks Eckerd. You may as well check out the Keeport Drive Rite Aid in Pittsburgh. They may still have the same interior as the West Mifflin store that you have filmed in this video.
Is there any Rite Aid near you that still have the blue design?
A couple, yes!
New subscriber. Just saying, you need to do an update on the super Kmart in Warren, because there is a pet show inside the garden shop could be ending soon. You might be able to get inside. Also, the church in that plaza just closed so demolition will be coming soon. This might be your only chance wallie
I'll have to check it out next time I can swing out there!
WallieB26 and the pet show is now over lol
There used to be a Rite Aid near my house that turn into a Waldrings
That, unfortunately, is abandon for now and it will turn into another building
And the Giant Eagle is near AN ABANDONED TOYS R US!
Wallie I don't know if you where told but the Rite Air in north Versailles. Also the Kmart that closed on Route 30 which you covered the Burger King also closed there. and across the street King's closed also.
Two closed Rite Aid's in my area (Atl) are now Dollar Trees.
Very cool Video ❤️
Walgreens has purchased Rite Aid so many Rite Aids near Walgreens stores are being closed. Others are being converted to Walgreens.
That happened to an old school pharmacy I went to. Just closed without notice.Don't know why.
They are doing something to the building as we speak. So something must be moving in soon.
Any updates ?
rite aid was bought over by walgreens and they converting more money making stores and closing small one like that one great video
Question...is Rite Aid going out of business? There was about 3 of them within a 5 mile radius here in Orem, UT, all have closed and have become Walgreen’s.
To my understanding several stores were bought out by Walgreens so that could explain that.
WallieB26 makes sense.
Over here in Florida it's CVS and I have no idea what is the difference between CVS and RiteAid and the building is literally the same just with red on CVS instead of blue being RiteAid.
What's going on in West Mifflin?
Everything is closing
I'm sure Century III Mall has a lot to do with that.
These retailers all over built...it's their own fault....WM is fine...the steel mills are even hiring....100k a year if you got clean hair and show up and work everyday
West Mifflin is doing great. It's just the mall and coincidence with a couple other places that they have closed. Poor management and ownership of the mall is what did that in.
Property could be used as a Halloween store I suppose when the season comes.6-24-19
Was up man
All the Rite Aid's here in the metro Atlanta area have closed.
Walgreens moved to the old rite aid in my city even tho Walgreens b has a bigger and newer building
Request, film the abandoned toys r us in west mifflin PA. Near century 3 mall.
It's literally right across the street from where he is
I did! Video will be coming.
conan had a joke my summers in pittsburgh
If there is a Walgreens within 50 mile radius the Rite-Aide's closed because Walgreens bought out Rite-Aide
What? McKnight Road's Walgreens is literally a mile from a Rite-Aid.
Hi WallieB26 can u please make more videos like Rite Aid thank u and I really love watching ur videos
They just took out all the shelving. They reopened just to have a sale for those items. Rite aid isn't doing great as a company. So I dont think they will be around to much longer
romans is close by sick bar
I remember when that was a thrift drug and Eckerd drugI can remember the day they took the Eckerd drug sign down and put up rite aid
you need to upload that century iii mall video
Thunder and lightening are amazing. Are there any plans for that place, you know?
I'm not sure of any for now. For all I know, itll just sit here empty.
the rite aid by me one staying rite aid and other going to be Walgreen and they a block apart
John Standley CEO and Chairman of the Board of Directors (fox in the hen house) ran the company into the ground.
Hey wallie that's concerning
Was this also a former CVS Pharmacy?
I think All Rite aid are closed. I think all are now Walgreens.
Rite Aid is owned by Walgreens now so it could be because it was close to a Walgreens or this one needed to temporarily close to be converted into a Walgreens wouldn't suprise me though if a dollar store got the lease.
So far I've seen 2 Rite Aid's that went on to become Walgreens. The last Rite Aid Store I was at did not make it because it was within 3 miles of a Walgreens. So maybe not unprofitable, but closed just the same. Liquidation Sale --- Good 50% Off Sales back in March so I definitely stocked up.
Ride aide is the 👨🏻🦳 of Walgreens cause Ride Aid bought out Walgreens and Walgreens buys out Rite Aid to
It closed February 6th
It looks like a target inside
This was an Eckerd Before Rite Aid
i mix this one up with the one near braddock or i call that lol
That’s a old rite aid
Before then, it was a Brooks Eckerd from 2004-07, and a regular Eckerd from the late 1990s/early 00s to 2004.
Nice video👍...Walgreens bought Rite Aid... depending on how close they are I believe they're closing the Rite Aids
Use to be an eckerd
Yes, it did!
From 2004 to 2007, it was a Brooks Eckerd hybrid store. That explains the interior of the store in the video.
Business taken by cvs or Walgreens or walmart
I like to go in to the pharmacy
One of the reasons it closed is Rite Aid has been bought out by Walgreens and they have been merging. Ones that they dont convert to Walgreens or just in close proximity to Walgreens are just going to close.
Rite aid not doing to well.
First. Wallie come up to blairsville pa. Got some cool abandoned buildings.
I WAS!!!
I feel like I heard that some Rite Aids would be closing because Walgreens wants to eventually buy them up. But don't quote me on that. :)
Walgreens originally was going to buy all Rite Aid stores, but the federal government rejected such a merger. So in the end, Walgreens bought a lesser number of Rite Aid stores, but not all of them. I just did a search on google maps, and see there was a Walgreens 11/2 miles away from this store across the street from Century III. So I will guess, this is one of the stores Walgreens acquired.
It's funny, now I am suddenly wondering if a Rite Aid I often pass by in southwest Michigan not far from where my brother has a vacation home(Buchanan, MI, it's north and west of there), survived the Walgreens buyout or not? I haven't noticed any Walgreens stores near there believe it or not, so maybe it did hang on.
Just wondering why you don't put addresses of the abandoned buildings?
Walgreens bought most rite aids and closing several of them
This is exactly what is transpiring. Took a year but the Rite Aid Stores that were slated to close are now closing and the remaining ones that were purchased, if profitable, have gone on to become Walgreens. Suffice to say that there are no longer any ''Rite Aid'' Stores close to me here in North Carolina.
Hi
Gets you wandering about p.a.. Lots of store's closed down because of what? Financial problems, a business decisions, who knows.
Walgreens brought Rite Aid and open up new stores in the former buildings.
Anyone need a wet greeting card or 2
