Yes I was able to use the d16 stock fuel rail and injectors with the d17. BUT!!! I had to convert to fuel return system. I have another video explaining that. You have to have some type of air fuel gauge for tuning your fuel and adjustable fuel regulator that goes on the fuel rail.
It's 5hp-15hp gain but it also depends on what mods you already have on. It's not easy if you don't know what your doing. 2 tips... 1: dont use the d17 gasket, you have to use the d16y8 96-00 honda civic sohc. 2: remove your intake manifold studs and replace then with different size(length) you need 3 studs and 2 bolts. You have to mod the manifold to make it fit, not your average Joe can do it. I sell them on eBay only when you email me to set-up. $300 pick up or $25 for shipping. Come with everything you need to install rudyborja626@gmail.com
@@slowazzes1972 on the exhaust side yes, the intake side is exactly the same. The airflow is also way more direct than the stock manifold that comes the y8. The flanges are different that's about it
If they were any different then this wouldn't work at all. The exhaust ports are different yes, the intake ports are not. I actually have both heads in my garage right now and can confirm this. The flanges and gaskets are different because of the y8's bolt pattern and the d17's age chamber, you just have to modify 2 holes on the flange by extending them by maybe 1/4 of an inch and making the coolant port on the manifold work as the new egr chamber. It does work as a performance mod the airflow is more direct and doesn't have to travel as far. The rpms don't hang after shifting gear and the overall throttle response is better. If this wasn't a performance mod for the d17 then so many people wouldn't have done this to them in the first place. Quick question Rudy I have the manual y8 manifold and the IACV sensor isn’t compatible with the d17 one what do I do? Can I run it without the iacv or block it off?
You block off the y8 iacv holes with screws and lock tight. Then use a tb from a y8 automatic or d17 tb or k20 tb...in order to use d17 you need to mod 3 bolt holes and port match the tb. Using k20 tb only need to mod 1 bolt hole and port match the tb. The automatic y8 tb bolts on, not port matching...now you can also go another route. Using the manual tb from the y8, you add a hose to the y8 intake manifold vaccum port and you match a flat metal plate with 2 fitting hoses where you can bolt on a d17 iacv and wala

thanks, i started to create my own one with all of your informations, i'm from france and we have different y8 manifold with differents holes, when my em2 start if it works i'm gonna upload a video :)
RudyborjaEM2 i finished my y8 manifold, you can see my work here www.japancar.fr/forum/Sujet-Em2-MK2-Photos-p3-Retour-a-la-maison?page=3 it works perfect, i just using different holes because we have different y8 manifold in europe ; )
when I first install the k20a3 si or rsx base model 270cc injectors, I had a fuel return system so i adjusted my fuel pressure low at 25 psi or 30 psi with the fuel regular and running stock ecu...but I had a air/fuel ratio gauge to help me...now I got the k20 after market injectors FIC 650cc with the Kpro ecu
+RudyborjaEM2 I switched back to stock injectors and now my idle is jumping up and down is it because I don't have coolant running through the iac valve ?
did it make a difference I mean noticeable difference? I an going to do this mod but no one sd it noticed this and this on power noise exc....what kind of increase in HP or vtech or what does this help and advise appreciated
it does make a difference. the high flow, d16 flows way better than the d17. the d17 has too many loops and turn before entering the head....the d16y8 is known for the best d series stock intake manifold flow. the throttle response feels better....if you just have intake you notice very little...if you have alot of mods like me upgraded cam and ect... you'll notice a bigger difference.
@@RudyborjaEM2 very late here but I wanted to ask a question since you mentioned on a stock engine it's not gonna do much except improve throttle response so my question is my car has a 4-1 header and a complete aftermarket exhaust system without the catlytic converter so is it worth it for me doing all of this I wanted to do this a long time ago but I live in a country where is very dusty so aftermarket air intake systems are not a option as they suck in quite alot of dust as comapred to factory airbox but since I have another car now and don't drive the civic on daily basis I will put a aftermarket intake on it now but will the mods I have compliment the manifold in making any power or it's not worth it?
DC Race header 4-2-1 deletes the cat, 2 1/4 inch piping to a resonator magnaflow 6 inches round the a what ever you want muffler...I can't remember what muffler I had on, maybe the N1 Apexi style replica...
You can but you need to be tuned. You can use the d17 injectors with stock d16y8 fuel rail with top hats and the fuel regulator plugged or use a fuel guage in place of plug
RudyborjaEM2 thanks dude. I have a 04 es1 auto working on finding a 04-05 ex as a parts car so i can manual swap. I got a buddy whos gonna get me a y8 manifold
RudyborjaEM2 thanks bro i had another question, Yo rudy what about the coolant line coming from underneath the intake manifold its a bronze like tube with a rubber smaller hose with coolant but do i put it with a tee to the thermostat housing going to the back of the manifold
it go by the intake manifold craigslist or junk yards. if you want to buy it already modified that cost from 175 to 300 but you want to hit me up if you're interested
the map is on the k20z1 throttle body but when you run the stock d17 throttle body the map will be located on the back of the y8 intake manifold where the y8 iacv hole is located
Seriously just you basic bolt on and you add the y8 intake manifold swap with stock throttle body like 5 hp...now the d17a1 has no vtec and has 115hp. Now the d17a2 witch has vtec has 127hp. No now you subtract 127hp vtec -115hp non vtec =12hp vtec gain serious no pedo. Now you can get more power just like any other car does by adding more performance parts like cam or pistons ect...I installed the Skunk2 intake manifold from the 92 thru 00 honda civic single cams. Now just like the d16y8 gains when they add the skunk2 intake manifold, the d17 will gain as well seriously.
RudyborjaEM2 so to add more vtecs go after Wisco pistons + rods assuming? Skunk2 y8 is better than just a y8 stock from a d16? ( also I have a2) also 7th gen I drive the 04 civic ex
@@1800BusterCheeks any performance part is better than the stock part. If you're doing pistons and rods you got to know what you're going to do are you going to go and they are you going to go boost once you figure that out you know what type of Pistons to get it doesn't add more VTEC it has more power
RudyborjaEM2 I get yah that yah can’t add more VTech unless u swap the synchro’s? ( assuming ) and still unclear about that but the things u add just add power such as for starters real cold air not ram air full exhaust headers cam lifters rods pistons ect... definitely saving the email if I send ??? I’ll label them as Honda 7th gen or something along the lines.. I just been recently hitting junk yards and had happen to stumble on this
Just to install its $100 but you need to have everything ready and modded. If you buy from me it's $300 with everything you need to install but that's without the install.
I've only seen guys in Thailand use y8 tb...I've used both d17 and the k20 tb before....y8 is 56 mm, d17 is 57mm and k20 is 66 mm...if you want to try the y8 tb, you would need to use the automatic y8 tb, because the idle air control valve is on the tb like the d17 and you will need to switch some wires around on tps and map maybe
Yes I can ship anywhere but the further you live, the more shipping cost. When ever anybody commits to buy one from me and not just says there going to buy one, contact me at rudyborja626@gmail.com and then I'll post the eBay Link.
Yes I sale this y8 swaps, pro's vtec is louder or noticeable and horse power gain is notice....con's it cost money $300 pick up and $25 for shipping. It comes with everything you will need for the install.... Email me at rudyborja626@gmail.com and I will seat up a eBay when your ready.
RudyborjaEM2 is hard i was trying today to remove it because i m doing head gasket on my ex 2002 the nuts is hard to remove no space for nothing omg all ready remove the 3 bolts fron the batton brakets
+RudyborjaEM2 and I just made a new gasket out of cork do you think that is good enough, why do people advise against using the y8 gasket it seems like its better because it's thicker and transfers less heat
well I'm using stock d16y8 bare intake manifold and the fuel rail, injectors, regulator and fuel lines....im using all the stock d17a2 sensors and throttle body except for injectors...but you can use your stock d17a2 fuel rail and injectors, instead of you d16y8 fuel rail and injectors
+Marshall McGaughey it's actually better to use the automatic one, because of the hole on the back...5 speed has a hole for the IACV. d16y8 automatic has no hole and the IACV is on the throttle body.
honestly d17 injectors with stock fuel, you need to add o-rings and Mickey mouse a bracket to hold it in place....I like better stock d16y8 fuel rail with d17 injectors with k-tune top hats and d16y8 o-rings, this way fuel rail bolts straight ups.
+RudyborjaEM2 haha mine has been running running rich for some reason even though I replaced the Map, coolant temperature sensor ,air intake temp and the o2 sensor and I've been getting like 22mpg so I've been thinking about doing a y8 throttle body swap to add more flow . what are your fuel trims and what's your gas mileage
+nope nope my fuel trim is stock with stock ex ecu and if I really religiously go 65-70 on the freeway I gotten 39mpg 400-450 miles on a 11.2 gallons one fill tank
I am in the middle of my swap. But my manual manifold I made a plate and covered the holes and mounted the map sensor to the plate.

I put K24 injectors on it and it's runs way to rich now or it could be something else does your stock computer do okay with K20 injectors?
when I first install the k20a3 si or rsx base model 270cc injectors, I had a fuel return system so i adjusted my fuel pressure low at 25 psi or 30 psi with the fuel regular and running stock ecu...but I had a air/fuel ratio gauge to help me...now I got the k20 after market injectors FIC 650cc with the Kpro ecu
+RudyborjaEM2 I switched back to stock injectors and now my idle is jumping up and down is it because I don't have coolant running through the iac valve ?
+Austin K I forgot to cap off the extra port on the egr outlet
did it make a difference I mean noticeable difference?
@@FB6K24Z7 its worth it. But buy the k&n intake filter. There washable. And don't drive in dust storms. The K&N filter clean sells separately
You can talk about exhaust sisten do you had
DC Race header 4-2-1 deletes the cat, 2 1/4 inch piping to a resonator magnaflow 6 inches round the a what ever you want muffler...I can't remember what muffler I had on, maybe the N1 Apexi style replica...
Good video man 👍
So i can use d16y8 fuel rails and injectors?
You can but you need to be tuned. You can use the d17 injectors with stock d16y8 fuel rail with top hats and the fuel regulator plugged or use a fuel guage in place of plug
RudyborjaEM2 thanks dude. I have a 04 es1 auto working on finding a 04-05 ex as a parts car so i can manual swap. I got a buddy whos gonna get me a y8 manifold
You also need the subframe from a manual car and axles
RudyborjaEM2 i know i have read the forums, thats why i was gonna get a complete car for parts instead of trying to junkyard part it
What kind of aftermarket cam do you use with your 1.7L.....? Thank you
Crower stage 2 cam
NA cam
Yo g im doin the swap and i was wondering what gasket do i use for the throttle body
D16y8 gaskets for intake manifold and throttle body or if you go k20 then k20 gasket
RudyborjaEM2 thanks bro i had another question, Yo rudy what about the coolant line coming from underneath the intake manifold its a bronze like tube with a rubber smaller hose with coolant but do i put it with a tee to the thermostat housing going to the back of the manifold

RudyborjaEM2 im lookin for you on fb but alot of people come out with your name
RudyborjaEM2 what does your profile picture look like b my name of fb is Sirr Christopher Montana
is it a easy modification
it depends if your mechanically inclined power tools are necessary
Hey I put it on but the car won't stay on I don't know what I did wrong
Oviel Chachi email me at rudyborja1981@gmail.com
what up my friend. i have 03 honda civic. where i can buy the intake manifold ?
craigslist lol
it go by the intake manifold craigslist or junk yards. if you want to buy it already modified that cost from 175 to 300 but you want to hit me up if you're interested
Will this work on an auto d17a2
Yes you can do this swap on automatic D17
Where can i buy the stage 2 cams
Google shopping, on ebay, craigslist, crower.com
Hey man I heard u sale this for ready to bolt up
do you have one for sale
where does the Map go ?
the map is on the k20z1 throttle body but when you run the stock d17 throttle body the map will be located on the back of the y8 intake manifold where the y8 iacv hole is located
how much hp do you get for that upgrade
5-15hp and it depends on what other mod you got done to your engine
do you ship them for the A2?
explain your self better a2? d17a2? You mean for vtec?
Will it pass smog?
It would fail the visual inspection.
Yes
the y8 i bought has an extra fitting at the base
your not going to use those, just cap them off...email me a picture...rudyborja1981@gmail.com
How much hp/vtecs does this really add? Seriously??
Seriously just you basic bolt on and you add the y8 intake manifold swap with stock throttle body like 5 hp...now the d17a1 has no vtec and has 115hp. Now the d17a2 witch has vtec has 127hp. No now you subtract
127hp vtec
-115hp non vtec
=12hp vtec gain serious no pedo.
@@1800BusterCheeks email me if you have more questions
rudyborja1981@gmail.com
RudyborjaEM2 I get yah that yah can’t add more VTech unless u swap the synchro’s? ( assuming ) and still unclear about that but the things u add just add power such as for starters real cold air not ram air full exhaust headers cam lifters rods pistons ect... definitely saving the email if I send ??? I’ll label them as Honda 7th gen or something along the lines.. I just been recently hitting junk yards and had happen to stumble on this
Just to install its $100 but you need to have everything ready and modded. If you buy from me it's $300 with everything you need to install but that's without the install.
Jonathan Salazar where are you from
Jonathan Salazar I'm from USA California L.A.
can i use y8 TB?
I've only seen guys in Thailand use y8 tb...I've used both d17 and the k20 tb before....y8 is 56 mm, d17 is 57mm and k20 is 66 mm...if you want to try the y8 tb, you would need to use the automatic y8 tb, because the idle air control valve is on the tb like the d17 and you will need to switch some wires around on tps and map maybe
Oh ok ill just keep it simple
Yo kiero a serle eso a mi carro pero no lo consigo
why not p08 intake?
Dc race headers 4-2-1 deletes the cat. I have a extra pare selling for $250 on craigslist L.A.
Yes I can ship anywhere but the further you live, the more shipping cost. When ever anybody commits to buy one from me and not just says there going to buy one, contact me at rudyborja626@gmail.com and then I'll post the eBay Link.
Eso le da un poco más de torque al carro
$300 ready to plug and play
RudyborjaEM2 You still sell them ?
More torque
Yes I sale this y8 swaps, pro's vtec is louder or noticeable and horse power gain is notice....con's it cost money $300 pick up and $25 for shipping. It comes with everything you will need for the install.... Email me at rudyborja626@gmail.com and I will seat up a eBay when your ready.
is it easy to install????? and how much hp gain are we talking about????
how the fuck you remove the stock d17a2 intake from you head is 2 hard to remove it
you just remove all nuts and bolts, don't for get to remove the two bottom brackets...btw you need a racket wrench 12 mm...it's really easy
RudyborjaEM2 is hard i was trying today to remove it because i m doing head gasket on my ex 2002 the nuts is hard to remove no space for nothing omg all ready remove the 3 bolts fron the batton brakets
+pavel1809 go buy a ratchet wrench 12mm
RudyborjaEM2 all ready have tools
thank you for you help i ready remove it
it is a bitch to get this manifold to fit
No its easy...its a bitch to fit the skunk2 intake manifold on witch I currently have on right now.
Did you have to move that brake line , the hose fitting that's for the egr keep hitting it
+Austin K you just push back the AC line and the power steering line bending them back a little bit and you're good
+RudyborjaEM2 and I just made a new gasket out of cork do you think that is good enough, why do people advise against using the y8 gasket it seems like its better because it's thicker and transfers less heat
+Austin K I always use the y8 gasket. it matches up with Y8 intake manifold better then the d17.
check ur email
When you are saying that you used stock this, and stock that, are you talking about stock from the Y8 or a2?
well I'm using stock d16y8 bare intake manifold and the fuel rail, injectors, regulator and fuel lines....im using all the stock d17a2 sensors and throttle body except for injectors...but you can use your stock d17a2 fuel rail and injectors, instead of you d16y8 fuel rail and injectors
I'm currently using the stock k20 throttle body...
+RudyborjaEM2 excellent! thank you. also, can this be done using the automatic y8 manifold? or do you have to use the 5spd? perhaps it doesnt matter?
+Marshall McGaughey it's actually better to use the automatic one, because of the hole on the back...5 speed has a hole for the IACV. d16y8 automatic has no hole and the IACV is on the throttle body.
does that really helps you to gain power????
yes
dose it matter if it's a manual intake going on an automatic d17a2
Cody Fritsche doesn't matter
RudyborjaEM2 cool thank you
RudyborjaEM2 so you can put this on an automatic?...
Would you ship to the UK?
I have a 2002 honda civic ex with a d17 engine can this intake manifold work on mine?
you need to modify the y8 intake manifold to fit
how well do the d17 injectors fit?
honestly d17 injectors with stock fuel, you need to add o-rings and Mickey mouse a bracket to hold it in place....I like better stock d16y8 fuel rail with d17 injectors with k-tune top hats and d16y8 o-rings, this way fuel rail bolts straight ups.
+nope nope check your thermostat and clean your throttle body...where does your car idle at? rpm...you might have a vacuum leak
RudyborjaEM2 do you have a stock exhaust?
Yes
