"Hard to believe it's been five years since we released Apex! That record was really the beginning of a new era for us, so we are so excited to finally give it the deluxe treatment it deserves! The new bonus tracks were a lot of fun to create, as they've allowed us to show some of our other musical influences more prominently. The earbook is definitely the part I am most excited about though, being that the earbook for Abyss was really a sequel to the story from Apex. Now our listeners can read the full 'Immortal Saga' chapter by chapter and discover some new details that were too difficult to convey through the music. And, we can't forget about the instrumental edition! We've had fans asking for it for a long time and we can't wait to hear the vocal covers and new renditions they come up with! We are just so excited for everyone to get their hands on this new edition - it's such a great way to celebrate the fifth anniversary of this album that will always remain so special to us!"

Damn this synthwave/retrowave genre suits Brittney’s voice and UTA as a whole extremely well. The epic storytelling and alluring lyrics are always a pleasure. Very dope, indeed.
UTA have become one of my favourite bands over the last couple of years. This song suits the synthwave conversion so well, love it!

This band should be far more popular world wide, I have them on my personal current band favorite list #2 after Nightwish and then avantasia is #3 then jinjer etc Abyss is a complete masterpiece, it is just wonderful melodic metal. (Time stands still is too)

I cannot get enough of this version of this song! While I do like the power metal style of Unleash the Archers, I'm a huge Synthwave fan, too and this version is AMAZING. I went back to listen to the original metal version of "False Walls" from the Apex album and while I REALLY like the original version, THIS synthwave remix is...um...out of this world! Speaking of which, I love the visuals in this video. It's more sci-fi than cyberpunk, which is what synthwave is normally associated with, but as a huge sci-fi fan, I truly appreciate the effort that went into making this video. Even though the lyrics are originally from a fantasy song, they fit so well for apocalyptic future sci-fi.
Instant favorite, synthwave is legit a huge motivator for me, and UtA? Oh yes please, more

I'm not a huge synthwave fan but when UTA lays a track down I listen and I like lol 😆 I love Brittney Slayes voice and stage presents. So cool she's been asked to join other band projects and she's so gracious to help out. Definitely one of the coolest vocalist out there 😎

Abyss is the current favorite campfire and rum album. This is a masterpiece that does not go away, but just seems to get better even after 50 listens. UtA causes more people to ask me what we are listening to then any band ever has by far.
With this new and amazing synthwave remake, all I can imagine is a rogue AI controlled by the master hacker "Matriarch" picking off her children one by one. Great job!

"False Walls" is my favourite track from "Apex", glad to see it get attention.
Strangely, it's the track I find the least interesting on the album. Why is it your favorite?
@@zeldaholic That's a pretty popular take, most people aren't fond of "False Walls", meanwhile I'm not too fond of most people's favourite, "The Matriarch", I just feel like the lyricism on that track is the weakest amongst the album.
"False Walls" just has this beautiful, eerie soundstage & it's a thematic turning point in the album's story. The completion of the Immortal's task will ultimately bring destruction as the Matriarch attains power & so we're made to feel throughout the previous track that there's no honour to his victories, bringing home the politician son, that is just him completing the task set for him. "False Walls" however, it's anthemic, it's almost heroic, this is the worst brother & by removing him, the Immortal is a hero in this instance. In "False Walls", he gets a glimpse of being a hero & cleverly, they fade out on the chorus & a reprise, unlike the previous track where the end of the song is a reminder of his task, that returning the sons will ultimately lead to evil.
The eerieness then carries into "Ten Thousand Against One" & we see our hero fall, not in battle, but spirit, he's had to commit needless slaughter to achieve the task set for him & take home the coward son & it weighs on him, he's not a saviour like he was in "False Walls" & he's haunted by this. This then leads into "Earth & Ashes", where he has to take home the innocent son.
I think a lot of folks probably just think it a bit long in the tooth, but I love it, though clearly I'm a bit of a contrarian when it comes to UTA, because my favourite from Demons of the Astrowaste is "City of Iron" & my favourite from Abyss is "Through Stars". I think what all three songs have in common is they are a turning point for the main character, or an emotional high, in "City of Iron" Lacey gives into the sword & seeks to bring about radical change. In "False Walls", the Immortal has a fleeting glimpse of being a hero. In "Through Stars", the Immortal is finally in control of himself & finally able to be the hero, instead of a tool of evil (you'd have to imagine that the vast majority of his masters were evil - what do you ask of a man who cannot die? Well, you certainly don't ask him to till crops & feed cattle).
All three albums though, bangers beginning to end & the songs I love more, or the songs I'm not as into, are still pretty close together - UTA are just fucking incredible.
You turned my favorite UtA song, THE most perfect sword & sorcery metal song of all time, and turned it into 80's schlock sword & sorcery. And I looove it.
Definitely an anthem of the times… ❤
