Mat from Citizen allowed me to film a couple acoustic songs from their new record, "Youth", at the beach across the street from Warped Tour in Ventura, CA. This is easily my favorite filming location so far in the AC series. The session is back-ended with 4 songs from their set on the Kevin Says Stage at Warped Tour. This is Altered Course 008.
So much emotion in all their lyrics. There isn't one bad song by them. Mat's voice is perfect
i don't think depression ever really fades, it definitely "goes away" for a little while, like a cold, but sometimes you remember it and you empathize with those who are going through it, and you can smile at them and say they can make it, because you made it. i don't know if that made sense.

Depression will never go away....sad to think that....It’s more about being stronger then that hole it leaves in your chest. Learning how to live with it and trying to understand it, rather then neglecting....Extremely easy to say, but a lot harder to overcome.

@@tom_from_myspace Absolutely, I didn't mean to do that. Everyone's got a different experience and degree to which they experience depression. I think my experience may be familiar or relatable to some folks.
The reason I love Citizen so much is because they are so incredibly real. There's no flash or show or mask or fake. It's all heart felt. Respect

Yeah, that happened to me too and it was the first song I've learned how to play and sing.
I started tabbing it out and noticed I did the strings backwards and said fuck it. But the chords are exactly what the dude is playing.

+Nick Mokrzewski With a lot of their songs they have complicated guitar parts and its hard to sing and play at the same time.

+Nick Mokrzewski MOST of their stuff is simple, but some of it would be hard to play and sing at the same time, plus it would restrict their songwriting if they had to have Mat sing and play at the same time.

+dion.guerrero not really guy, most of the parts in their songs are easy. and i know this because i know a lot of their songs leads, and i can sing the entire song, while playing the lead guitar parts. I don't think it'd make much of a difference if Mat played guitar as well, and i honestly would prefer it. not a big fan of bands who just have a lead singer who doesn't do anything but sing.
