You should come to the Orkney Isles of the North East coast of Scotland where I live. Plenty of history here, loads of cairns, brochs, stone age villiage (skara brae) and huge stone circle (the ring of brodgar). They are always uncovering new stuff as well.

It serves the same purpose as the pyramids . In the fact that the High Kings were buried there. Remains have been found. But, Newgrange is also a calendar of sorts though certain gaps , one can see the sun shine through, announcing the seasons .

There is actually 2 more similar tombs nearby, knowth and dowth but those sites are protected and not accessible to the public. Knowth has by far the most impressive stone carvings of all 3 with lunar map stones sundial and calander stones. Fascinating to wonder about such an advanced civilization that existed 5000 years ago!

You need to visit Tintagel in Cornwall. That will give you some awesome inspiration for song writing.
There are lots of burial mounds all over Europe. Most Americans think that burial mounds are a Native American thing, but they are not. Different cultures had them.
You should so go to the giants causeway one-day in atrium
