    It sucks that people think this song is weak. I fell in love at first listen, mainly because it sounds radically different. They are always changing things up, and that's one of the main things I love about this band. It's a shame that many people can't embrace that. You can always listen to your favorite TMV album over and over. I'll bet that if they released a rehash of your favorite album, then you'd complain that it's nothing new. It's always like that.

      This reminded me of atdi for he irst time in a long time. It doesn't exactly sound like atdi, but he sings it more like that Cedric. It sounds like a for fun song and that's what I get. It's really fucking fun.

      johnnyscifi completely agree. He did fill in for some live shows between amp and TBIG I believe before they landed on T-Pridg. They really have had so much fortune as a band in having such an impressive revolving door of drummers. Each a beast in his own right. Even Blake Fleming

    To all the people in here talking shit about Pink Floyd--you need to listen to something other than "Another Brick in the Wall" and "Money." Pink Floyd could be waaaaay more groundbreaking and boundary pushing than you're giving them credit for. The Mars Volta themselves admitted that they formed to emulate Pink Floyd and Cedric said that one of Omar's biggest influences in guitar playing is Syd Barrett. Remember, The Mars Volta could use Pink Floyd (as well as Santana, King Crimson, Nick Cave, etc.) as a template, PF had to create their own template. Listen to "Echoes," "Atom Heart Mother Suite," "Dogs," and "Shine on You Crazy Diamond" and then see what you think. There's way more to Pink Floyd than "The Wall" and their radio hits.

    • @jasonwalker7729
      @jasonwalker7729 6 лет назад +1

      Well put sir. Without Pink Floyd and King Crimson, being the pioneers of music they are, the difference in the landscape of music of all faucets would be drastic.

    • @cliveramsbotty6077
      @cliveramsbotty6077 3 года назад +1

      you can say pink floyd were incredible pioneers, you can also say a large chunk of their catalogue is bland and over rated. always lacking on the vocal front in my dumb worthless opinion no one cares about

    • @Theybo2
      @Theybo2 3 года назад +3

      The problem is that when people like something they think is underrated, they don't feel validated until they throw something else under the bus. People did it with Justin Bieber all the fucking time, comparing artists that literally aren't even the same genre to him.

    I think the fact that this sounds nothing like their old work is a great example of musical creativity. Creativity is coming up with something new. If they used the same formulas that they used in the past, that would show that "their musical creativity was either lacking or non existent".

  • @loversrockpaper
    @loversrockpaper 12 лет назад +4

    this band is so dynamic it's kind of scary. i think the fact that a lot of their fans won't "like" this just demonstrates that. you were expecting a certain sound but you're never going to get it again. that's really remarkable, considering that most bands have a general pattern or predictability that they rely on. these guys are like "fuck it, we're doing this because of reasons." takes quite a bit of talent as far as i know.

      Yes! Just said it! He's using his atdi range. Well for most of it anyway. My favorite band and I'm almost 40, I always think I'm gonna outgrew it. Well fear it more so... But no. Still hits like a mfr for now we toast gets better as I get older. True story Jim is like a penpals we are exchange a rundown of he year around Xmas, I named my band after a Sparta track and asked or his blessing never expecting a response. Not only did he respond he answered my questions and talked to me for years since. Bums me out he's on his own but he's touring with Thursday rn solo. That's cool

The beauty of it though is you will always find something familiar in their work. The talent exuding from these dudes is extraordinary. And anyone who says otherwise is a fool. When did so many Volta fans become uptight assholes? I love this band because they evolve with me. They take me in new directions and i support their art by having no expectations of what their next project will be. Life is an ever changing story. They make albums, which are all essentially a piece of plastic with music on it. But its their love and obsession with what they do that keeps it new, makes sure that the feeling for the fans is never stale, but ever forcing you to join their journey.

    The fact that there are so many pissed of fans over this song is a good thing!
    It just means that as far as creativity goes, they have challenged the listener to a new audio experience which they aren't used to! Originality within music is supposed to make you think and for you to analyze.
