It actually wasn't "unfinished," it was on the album (then called "In Absentia') when they originally turned it into WB, along with "Postulate." They were removed for reasons unknown, at least to me, and replaced with the song "In Absentia," even though the title of the album was changed to "Noctourniquet" in order to avoid confusion with a Porcupine Tree album.
Un. Fucking. Believable. I've listened to this band for years, digested everything they've released, and I still think this song hits a spot nothing else in their discography does. Absolute gold.
Yeah man! Another band that was unbelievable was Vela Ceras. I cried for days when I found out that they broke up. Nobody would give them a chance. A true tragedy
i probably should have recorded this on my phone already but please don’t delete this off youtube. i’ve listened to 484 times now in the past 4 years. thanks.
Lyrics: Valerian mother How do I pardon the mistakes, when you do it again, and do it again and again? There is bliss in my muzzle But this time I'm coming for you When I sift through the air In your mask made of infinite bane There is bliss from the smelter that stained Was it last night I held your hand? Orchestrina that cuts my wrists In the clouds, in the clouds I ride Lacing the sulfur in rain Valerian father Rhododendron, you cloak me in the haunt of the beast I must slay Casting the circle and under the nights you shame There is blood from the smelter that stains Was it last night I held your hand? Orchestrina that cuts my wrists In the clouds, in the clouds I ride Lacing the sulfur in rain Hold me under Pray for rain Hold me under Pray for rain And do it again, again and again and again Do it again and again and again and again Do it again and again and again and again Do it again and again and again and again Was it last night I held your hand? Orchestrina that cuts my wrists In the clouds, in the clouds I ride Lacing the sulfur in rain
How could this song not make it into the album? I mean what the hell, it's amazing! Even a lot more solid than most of noctourniquet's songs IMO. Anyways, thanks for posting this!
There's no fucking way. Just no fucking way such a good song didn't make it on the album. It must of been being saved for later .... This is easily the best "b-side" I've ever heard , from any band.
I couldn’t get this out of out my head and literally just skimmed 3 of their albums and couldn’t find it.. I’m pretty upset this wasn’t was released officially
I need to know more about this "mask of infinites bane", it's an unacceptably brilliant artifact of the Lore Volta to be excluded from official discographies.
I have no clue, it would have been the best track on the album honestly. But maybe it'll someday be finished, if they ever commit to that reunion they keep teasing.
probably reading into this too much. but the three almost-finished songs perfectly fit their three main moods: "Clouds": slow, heavily affected slow song, "Postulate": the weird but upbeat ballad, "Whisper to Your Flinch": hard rock.
why do i see an epic rollerdisco gunbattle when the chorus kicks in...maybe zombies somwhere in the mix.. basically it means this was the best song on noctourniquet, we all know it.
I feel when people discuss tmv as "a band" they miss the point. Together these guys literally tapped into the spiritual plane and they release it like a fountain
Saw a great hypothesis as to why this didn't make it into the album. They knew this song was too good, and that if they released this and used it as a single, it would likely get them popular again, but the whole time they just wanted to make their last album and break up, so they decided not to.
Yeah bands always release albums that they don't want to be successful, especially ones signed to Warner Brothers, and people in general hate making money.
@@TC-lk2ev believe it or not the Omar and Cedric are both more art for ash than sellouts. They’ve confessed in previous interviews they don’t make music for fans they make music for themselves.
@@caviar_dreamz I'd say that's true to an extent with Omar's solo stuff, with TMV it's different. When you're signed to Warner Brothers you're putting out an album you want to be successful.

this song has to be on the new album

I still can't believe this was considered "unfinished" I mean it's a perfect jewel.
Not to be confused with a "Malkin Jewel" which isn't so great.
Sam K Malkin Jewel is great. But this song is vastly superior :p
+Sam K malkin jewel is a great song, for the first half especially. The way he says 'clickity-clack' in the chorus just gets me every time.
How the fuck is The Malking Jewel not great?

The Mars Volta is the greatest band of all time. I started listening in 2007. Love these guys
I’ve only been listening for about a year and I will always love the tones and styles they use, I can’t wait for the reunion!
I love these guys, but Deftones are my fave

I remember what I was doing when listening to this when it was first leaked, crazy its been so long and there's finally new music.
This doesn't sound like any other Mars Volta but sounds so much like Mars Volta !!
Love this band. Great song and there music has always been great. Don't care what anybody says about them.
why wouldn't they release this? it's beautiful!
I'm just 23, I need more The Mars Volta for the rest of my life.
bosnians and zavalaz are not enough...
Alonso Landaeta Do you mean songs by them?
Check out Antemasque. It is another project by them two. But yes need more The Mars Volta.
Definitely. Wow you’re 28 now. How time flies
Check out De Facto and At The Drive-In, if you havent already in the 6 six years since you wrote this.

Not enough time to record and produce the album I believe. The album was pushed for years and Omar grew impatient with Cedric
Thank you very much for the lyrics.
Mesmerizing song.
This “demo” is beyond qualified to be an official release. I really dont want anything changed
Un temazo de los volta como todos

They really bugged out by cutting this smh still gotta love em though, those rascals
"Those rascals" is probably the best description of this band. Or even just Omar and Cedric in general.
