- I invented a challenge for Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door called a "movelocke", and it's essentially a one time use challenge. I'm only able to use every attack, item, and special move in the game a single time! Last time I took a stab at the full game, and this time I'm resetting my move counts and tackling the Pit of 100 Trials!

The thing about piercing blow is that in PM64 it was called D-Down-Pound, which is even more unfortunate if you have the same of humor of a 14 year old

first: i saw this as the top comment before i started watching the video so i was waiting about 80% of the video for this joke,
and second: i am in-fact a fourteen year old and this is very funny.

Try to beat Thousand Year Door without healing. Items that restore HP and/or FP, sleeping at inns, healing blocks, picking up flowers and hearts in the over world, Sweet Treat And Feast are not allowed. The only way to heal is by level ups and bingos.
i like this idea a lot, i just worry since he's done challenges like minimum required turns and it may be a bit too easy since iirc that one didn't have much healing at all
i could be very wrong tho and i'd still be interested in watching!
I was waiting for this inevitable part 2... One of the coolest challenges you've done! I really like this one cuz it involves using each of your partners instead of focusing on the ones that are most efficient or useful
I think there's definitely a lot of instances where you could have made this run a lot less totally terrible if you added in something like a "solved fight" clause.
If you have zap tap, nothing but swoopers, and a dead partner, if you just used normal attacks to make it take 16 fewer turns you mightve saved an hour or two, while not "saving" yourself any HP

I was hyped for this one! I actually had no idea Sleepy Stomp and Fire Drive could be bought in the shop, I guess I’ve always just gotten them from the pit lol. Well done with this one!

I think no more super guard heavy challenges for a bit would be a good idea. Not for us, for YOUR sake lmao
I've got to admit Bringle, I'm not too interested in this concept but the title "...but it's Sticker Star" has convinced me to give it a chance; great way to describe the challenge.

Next one should be items only. It's build-on from "no attacking" but you remove the special move spam from that challenge.
I think it's possible with money grinding and using Item Hog.
Obviously, the 2 time use of Gulp against Iron Clefts is the exception
Items only would be great. It's gonna end up being a lot of Badge Selling + Heart Drain Bat items. Still something I really want to see.
Higher level bosses like Gloomtail & Shadow Queen basically make that impossible - in the case of Shadow Queen its not even doable *with* strange sack.
What better way to prepare for the Stanley cup playoffs than watching a pringles variant play GameCube wrong

Fake news, there are no Arantulas in Sticker Star
(You should try out Infatuate in Infinite Pit, it's legit my favorite move in that mod, Jdaster cooked and turned one of the most "whatever" moves into one of the greatest mechanics I've ever seen in a mod of this game)

I think I'm going to do this challenge myself with one of those modified rulesets from the comments since my superguards aren't nearly as polished as yours lol! But it would be fun to use moves that literally never see the light of day because they're so bad.

3:27 Ok, so I've never played Paper Mario TTYD, or seen any walkthroughs, so this was kind of funny that this section is also in this game as it is in Paper Mario 64.

Ngl, I much prefer the comparison to sticker star than the one with Nuzlocke because as you said in your previous video, a real TTYD Nuzlocke would be to not use a partner after it dies

About that the 1 time user items is exactly WHY IMHO Sticker Star itself was pure CRAP I would NEVER attempt a 100 floors dungeon with 1 time only attacks.
Gonna be honest, this challenge is literally impossible without super guarding or making it so you can use something else more than once. And I feel like using anything else more than once would have been way worse for this challenge.
Do you think you’ll ever do challenge runs on other rpgs like Earthbound or Mario RPG

If you (or anybody else) were to attempt this challenge again, some ideas I’ve got would be not bringing thunder rage or fire flower, and purchasing them from the pit merchant instead after clearing up space in your inventory for them. You’d have to rely on a bit more rng, but I feel like he pops up frequently enough that it would make the capability to use two additional offensive items worth it. Also, I believe Shell Shield could defend Mario from another Bob-ulk/Bulky Bob-ulk attack just like Veil, although it would only defend against one explosion
Waiting for the inevitable super guard only run (even thought I think it's already been established this would be impossible I'd still like to see it attempted by Bringle the super guard master)
Does anybody know if there's a limit on how often movers can spawn? If it's truly independent on each floor then it's _possible_ you can get them on every floor, letting you save all your moves for Bonetail. The odds of this happening naturally are worse than one in a billion squared but with savestates it should be manageable.
Movers can spawn on every floor, and with TAS RNG manipulation you can theoretically get through the entire Pit of 100 Trials without fighting anything except for Bonetail. This Prologue Pit TAS by Malleo does exactly that: ruclips.net/video/hyXzhFTVTtA/видео.html
He does do 1 fight in order to manipulate a certain badge drop, but if you didn't need that then theoretically it's possible. Like you said, the odds of it happening make it pretty much impossible for a normal player to do.

Unfortunate that it couldn't exactly end the way we would've wanted, but crazy run!I feel like the only necessary improvement needed would be to save Stampede, so you can redirect the buffs given to Goombella during the last fight to Yoshi. Peril+boosted Ground Pound + Stampede + Mini-egg should do enough extra damage to win the fight.
I do like the interesting strategies and niche uses some moves get in this challenge, tedious as it may have been to play through!

idk if its in the gamecube version but does not having zap tap work? it just automatically screws over fuzzies from ever getting attacks so u never have to superguard them.

With how often you use Super Guard i seriously want to see a Super guard only run XD let me see the fuzzy fight all over. Just for ALL battles!
Even though it wasn’t successful in the end it was still extremely interesting to see the strategies and I would be happy to see more runs even if they can’t be properly completed

I propose a Badgeless/Itemless challenge (Idk if it’s not been done yet).
Thought it would be interesting. If that still sounds easy then no Superguards at all on top of that. At this point you’ve done all the super hard ones so something like that sounds cool.
I'm doing that on my current run. Actually, I'm doing no badges, no items, and no sleeping at inns, so all my healing has to come from Sweet Treat/Sweet Feast and Lip Lock.
Honestly, between having a huge HP/FP pool and Power Lift, it hasn't been that bad, yet. The 2nd round with Doopliss has been the worst of it so far with only an unranked Vivian for backup, but I'm only about halfway through Chapter 5, so I may yet eat those words. xD

So I haven’t played this game in years, but like is there something stopping you from mashing the b button? Outside of the crippling shame of not being able to time it like a chad
