Excellent video with detailed explanations. Purchased the ST-8I-2.0 yesterday and will install today. Hope it takes less than the 15 minutes it took you to install yours! Thanks again!
Thank YOU for taking the time to make a great video!!! I live with my 88yo father and have been automating his home with Alexa devices, Nest thermostats, Ring door bells & flood light cams, Wifi cameras, robot vacuums etc etc... and just got this Rain Bird controller that I want to install today and YOUR video was EXTREMELY helpful. So I wanted to thank you for taking the time to post it. I will send you a link to a future RUclips channel I plan on making called "Home Automation For Seniors"
I just got my 2.0 controller box installed and so far it’s great. On the 2.0 version you can do a water now for all stations using the scheduled time or adjust the time directly from the app.
Great video! I’m installing my timer tomorrow and found your video very useful. Thank you! I also loved your house, lawn and your trees with the white flowers are amazing? What’s the name of those trees?
I think some people like me would of liked to see what options there are to program this manualy at the box, in case there is an internet or cellular problem, manual programing modes?
Hello! I have the ST8i. Newly installed. I’m having an issue with setting up different run times for a zone. For example: zone 1 runs at 4 am for 45 min and then run that same zone again at 12:30 for 15 min. I have new st Augustine grass and I don’t want to kill it the first 2 weeks. Do you have any insight on how to set this up?
Excellent review Adam, 1 question.........does the Rainbird wifi module come with the kit or do you have to order it separately? I cannot find any literature from Rainbird on this
thank you brother, great review, because of it i will be buying one, only concern i had was hooking it up and you showed how easy it was, so i'm looking forward to doing this next week-end
Do all of these units that have Wi-Fi require an external AC power source? I just bought a Wi-Fi unit and it came with a power cube, but unfortunately, my timer is nowhere near an AC socket, and if it requires external power, other than the 24 V coming up from the manifold I guess I can't use it. Any thoughts?
Adam can you have this system installed in another state by contractor, and still download the app on my phone, so I can control after the install. Having system installed in Florida, and need to control it from Michigan? Thanks
I recieved a $550 bill from the city forMy winter home. I find that one of the switches stuck open. 57000 gallons the city claims in 28 days. Is there and system that would " governor the usage gallons or back up valve?
Excellent. Always been a RB guy, but that's the way I was leaning -- I like the interface/buttons on the unit, and its almost half the price (on special today at HD!). Thanks!
Thank you. Without knowing that the phone wifi settings must be changed to the RainBird network, it is impossible to program this system. Why would the manufacturer leave that critical step out of the procedure? Baffling.
I need to replace my current sprinkler system. The sprinkler system that I currently have is a Weathermatic sprinkler system. I has up to 16-station connection. My lawn uses 14-station. I am unable to find any Rainbird sprinker system that can handle 14-station. The most I have seen is 12-station evan for any sprinkler system. Can I use a 12-station sprinkler system on a 14-station lawn? Can I use station 13 & 14 and plug it to the station 11 & 12?
HEY ADAM, MY SPRINKLER TIMER IS AT THE FARTHEST END OF THE GARAGE. IT MUST REMAIN THERE. HOW CAN I INSTALL A SECOND CINTROLLER RIGHT NEXT TO MY KITCHEN DOOR FOR QUICK ACCESS???? THANKS!!
How the heck do I delete a 4th watering time? Can’t find that info anywhere. Plus, can you adjust the time for a zone for each time the zone is turned on?
Can I use some circuits without turning on the water pump? I want to control two lines using drip irrigation, so i dont need the water pump to turn on on those lines. Is that possible? Thanks!
If you don't have this is a new system no wi-fi you're hooking up valves to controller timer is it left to right or right to left that you know and I understand you're using the same color wire but as you're going from the manifold into the timer where do you start is it left to right farthest away to closest or what
Mine is not connecting to router,im buying a wifi booster to see if this fixes it. Or return for something else. Also what brand of phone do you have. Apple, android?
So the question I have is. In your video when you have mounted the controller and open it where the wires comnnect. Your controller already has a LNK WiFi Module for Rain Bird ESP-TM2 and ESP-Me Series Controllers in it. When you look at what is in the box when purchasing this model it includes a smart sprinkler timer, transformer, mounting hardware, 2 (AA) batteries and instructions. Why does yours have LNK WiFi Module for Rain Bird ESP-TM2 and ESP-Me Series Controllers already in it? Did it come in the box and you just did not show it? You did not mention if this module was needed to enable the WIFI? Even on the rainbird site ithis item is sold seperately. Did I miss something here, or is there information I'm not aware of.
Can you buy the timer box and 3 phase water system a t Lowes? I havdd all the sprinklers and all but I need to place the 3 phase sndvtimer as I had a bid and it came in at 1000 which I thought was pricey so this okd widow is going to try it and see. Hahsh. I already had one guy put a battery one in and only 1 phase works and he charged 300. Plus it is so low I have to lay on my belly to set it.
Some sprinklers need a pump to get going (the "M" terminal)? What kind of sprinkler systems don't need a pump. I live in Florida and everyone I know with sprinkler system has a pump. The pump pumps the water from the well out the sprinkler heads.
I just moved in into a brand new home the Builder installs a state of the art RainBird ESP_TM2 it has WiFi capability but Rip-off Rain Bird wants me to purchase the Wifi module for $100.00
If you want it to be wifi. You have not been ripped off. The timer has the ability for wifi and no one told you it was wifi. Help yourself to one that is not upgradeable.
@@Trumpsterfire101 Yeah it is a total RIP Off, it should be WIFI Capable like everything is today. Why Nickle & dime customers who paid for an upgraded unit. It is Exactly like buying house with A/C Vents, buttons, labels for AC unit but no AC. Pathetic. Turns out this is the worst unit I have had.
Nit picky yeah but I would have liked to have seen a nice back plate to cover, you know and on the PVC a nut to tighten it to the controller. Fit and finish is allot in my book. It's important. Without a doubt a very nice setup!
wait until you get a new phone or have to reinstall the app, you'll loose all of the customization on the app you did (like names and pictures), the run times will still be there since they are on the box, but the names aren't in the cloud. This is a big design flaw issue that has RainBird behind the 8 ball. Hydrawise and Ranchio did a better job. RainBird rushed this to the market to compete.
Ованес Явруян if you mean can it support multiple zones, yes it can support 8. If this is not the answer to your question, please clarify what you are asking.
It is indeed a horrible little device. The module keeps on fflashing red preventing connection to the rainbird wifi. I'm about to smash it to smithereens!
I bought this unit to replace my old 24 year old manual timer. I love it! Especially being able to control it from anywhere!

Thats a good infrastructure project. I hope the government can provide free wifi to seniors.

Which ones better the orbit or rain bird ?
Great video, thanks. Have you tested the New and Improved model 2.0 WiFi timer; features numerous upgrades and replaces the Obsolete ST8O-WIFI model?
Adam, thanks for your wonderful teachings.I am going to learn a lot from you videos. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge.
Adam, you have a gift for presentation, explanation and education. Subbed.
Best Wifi Network Name!
Thanks for the Review. I just ordered one from Amazon.
Great video! I’m installing my timer tomorrow and found your video very useful. Thank you! I also loved your house, lawn and your trees with the white flowers are amazing? What’s the name of those trees?
So this does not need an A/C outlet, just batteries? Thanks.
Solid review. Thanks, Adam! I just ordered one.

did you have to use different valves for the smart timer?
Is the app a fee based access? Many have gone to that now. Thx
Have you worked with galcon gsi controller
Just wondering if this wifi controller can work from overseas ?
I recieved a $550 bill from the city forMy winter home. I find that one of the switches stuck open.

The Rachio 3 with the wireless flow control sensor.
very good, nicely detail
hi. why did you change your B-hyve timer for the raind bird timer?
Hi Adam, I just watched your Orbit B-hyve video as well -- which timer do you like better?
I like the Orbit because the app is simple and easier to use. They both work fine and I have had no issues with either of them.
Excellent. Always been a RB guy, but that's the way I was leaning -- I like the interface/buttons on the unit, and its almost half the price (on special today at HD!). Thanks!

Do you know of the trees with the white flowers ? Love the vid.
Reef Smart the tree is a Flowering Pear. It’s not fruit bearing.

How is the ST8o doing 3+ years later?
Hi Adam, Is this system having Rain sensor?

Can you change the network without screwing up you internet connection outside of the timer?
No. Idk how they're doing it. Cuts off my internet everytime and then I can't connect.
love the cherry blossoms on the street or are those washington hawthornnes?
It does look like cherry doesn't it? They are actually flowering pear.
Hello Adam!, Can you actívate o deactivate the master valve (or pump), on each station?, Tks!
Can this be installed on any sprinkler system?

Adam very good video. Is the enclosure lockable?
yes it is lockable.

can i use 2 times per day and 8 hour per time?

Curiosity I agree. Good comments.
Brooo, your trees!! 🤯
GooD Happy New Year To Rain bird Thank

( Andriod )Goggle play stores app setting, so reinstalling app restores setting.
amazing information good bro
timer price is how much
Is there a web portal available in addition to the app for manual control or programming?
hideyokidshideyowifi 😂😂😂😂
lol
Hello Sir can I send me the catalogue how to connect on 15Hp 3phase motor connection
price
Have they updated it yet where you can push a button on the app to water all zones
I am a sprinkler installer you can only put pictures on each zone of a resadencel controller not a espme
Very funny SSID
No one is going to mention his WIFI Username???????? LOL
I would have increased pressure through the app as soon as I saw the Fedex guy. I hate Fedex customer service.
That was hilarious.
Good afternoon. Can st 80 include multiple zones at the same time. Thanks for the answer.
Ованес Явруян if you mean can it support multiple zones, yes it can support 8. If this is not the answer to your question, please clarify what you are asking.
iTech I mean two zones are turned on at 2:00, one is turned off at 3:00 and the other at 4:00. To save the life of the pump. Thanks for the answer.
i like it have cat5e connection, don't like wifi it will lose signal .
is this 220 V ? I want to change my old one but mine is 220V hard wired.
Looks like it runs via batteries.
@@jeffzest8393 No that's just the backup display.
It seems the module goes faulty as it is offered for sale. Stupid idea.
Hack work
100$ ha ha ha !
Only 8 zones is a joke. Most of our residential systems are 12 to 24 zones.
It is indeed a horrible little device. The module keeps on fflashing red preventing connection to the rainbird wifi. I'm about to smash it to smithereens!
