- Endeavor has always had many against him within & outside the series. How can this man that has always been in All Might's Shadow hope to catch up to him? My Hero Academia Season 4 Episode 16 aka Episode 79 brings up many questions for what happens next. Can't help but feel for Endeavor despite everything he's done up to this point. The world needs a Symbol and can Endeavor become that? Ready for Boku no Hero Academia Season 4 Episode 17 aka Episode 80 Review?

Can Endeavor fill All Might's shoes and become the next symbol?
Honestly: no, and I am not saying that to be a hater. The reason is Endeavor and All Might are too fundamentally different in their ideals and approach; what I mean is All Might left a standard for the superhero community that is near impossible for Endeavor to replicate.
This is why He has to be his own No.1, because he has established his own image in an age where opinions are difficult to change; heck he had to almost die to get people to publicly root for him (high end Nonu fight).
Chibi Reviews I also say no. Endeavor is an amazing hero (an awful father and husband but an amazing hero). However, he’s all about speed and proficiency. He cares about protecting the public but not comforting them. He’ll stop the bad guy but refuses to speak to a fan. The public won’t love him but he does a great job.
He’ll be a great Number 1 but he’ll never be the symbol. At least in my opinion!

I like how the students still looked up to All Might even in his powerless form. I mean, just look at him, who wouldn’t want to give him a hug.
Symbol of Justice
Endeavor reminds me of Batman when you compare him to All Might's Superman, Horikoshi always givin him amazing art so I hope Bones doesn't slack when the time comes.
Really? Batman was a symbol of peace, the signal in the sky was enough to decrease crime rates and to ease people, it said you can sleep now, I am here, I will protect you. Superman was a symbol of power, i am here now, you are fucked.
A symbol of justice would be Flash, he sits with criminals to understand them, to rehabilitate them, justice is not just putting people behind bars, justice is to understand why they are criminals and getting them out of the criminal life, breaking the cycle.

@@alenasenie6928 Superman was a symbol of hope, not power. And basically everything All Might upheld but in a slightly less accepting or optimistic world. He'd do things that Flash'd do too, its just that most of his enemies happened to be universe level mass murderers and conquerors.
Batman, on the other hand was more like Aizawa than Endeavor, at least in personality and nature. The things you said he represents are accurate, but Gotham is a twisted place that adepts it's criminals to combat such symbolism. Which is why even if his methods are effective, not nearly as perfect.
@@sharilshahed6106 is not what they say, the S means hope, but that is a superficial reading, if we see what superman really does I wouldn't call that giving hope, I really can't think on a comic hero that represents hope really.
Time for endevor vs high end nomu incoming. Hopefully they do it justice by playing his theme while flying up into the sky...

@@jesseh1677 Nah. Based on what they've shown in the OP, we could probably end the season with Endeavor vs High End. If not, they would end it with the conversation with Endeavor and Hawks.
JRM BBR I think this season will end with the beginning of the pro hero arc, which will properly introduce Hawks, the new hero billboard chart and also High-End, and season 5 will continue with the rest of the arc.
I hear ppl are upset they cut out Bakugo’s flashback where it cause him to retract his statement on violence in how a person is raised

Well yeah because that one little flashback changes the meaning of why Bakugo is letting Todoroki go first, and shows his growth. The anime makes him seem arrogant like Todoroki is gonna fail and he can beat him. But that flashback adds the context, that he actually cares about Todoroki

For heroes All Might was a huge cliff that no one dared to climb. Except Endeavor he's the only one who kept trying

The endeavor mountain scene reminded me of the scene in Vagabond when Musashi is climbing the mountain just to see a vast mountain range with much taller mountains, such beautiful symbolism
The one thing I'm really sad to see missing this episode was Bakugo's flashback to what he overheard from Todoroki talking to Deku at the sports festival. That one flashback really helps inform the audience of Bakugo's true character and his development: he backed off on his own opinion because he recognized where Todoroki was coming from and then he covered it up by making it a competition ("Then show me your way of doing things"). It was really compassionate of him and was some of the payoff for having Bakugo eavesdrop on Todoroki and Deku's conversation in the first place. Without it, it misses out on his motivation for why he deflected the conversation into a competition and just comes across like his usual snark instead.

I agree. I like All Might, but there is so much depth and development with Endeavor that makes him more interesting.
I mean it depends on what you mean, All might was stronger and a beacon of hope. Not to mention a damn near saint. So he was without a doubt a better hero.
However Endeavor is very well written and very human. So I find him more interesting.
endeavor and all might is tied for my favorite mha character in my opinion. though i do agree that endeavor is a better well written character...
All might was a character who was meant to be sacked off early on to give a motive, goal, and chance for characters like endeavor to be developed so it makes sense.

Endeavor will never be able to fill All Might's shoes for the same reason All Might became a hero in the first place. His passion for becoming a symbol of peace was flawed from the start since not many heroes will be able to live up the standards he set. Which is precisely why characters like Stain exist.
There's a lesson that I think All Might needs to impart onto Midoriya that I don't think anybody has understood. Don't be All Might.
Like he said in this episode, he has had to push away the kindness of others to stay as the Symbol of Peace. If you read Vigilantes, then you know that All Might never really took time for himself. Even after his first battle with All For One, and he could only do hero work for a limited amount of time, he used his time as Toshinori Yagi to do work around his agency. In his first meeting with Tsukauchi, he kept leaving to deal with incidents that came up. His desire to help people was so compulsive, that nothing mattered except saving people, and that led to him being in the state he is now. I hope that All Might teaches Midoriya that he doesn't have to be a hero all the time, and that he should have a personal life, something to go back to when being a hero is too rough.
Endeavor is an awesome character. I find him far more interesting the more characterization he gets. Because of his flaws he has the most potential for growth in his development.

All Might was right, Endeavour should become the hero he wants to be for society and Shooootoooo! It's like a breath of fresh air seeing Camie again and she's more than upbeat.

I think the best Endeavor can honestly do is be his own hero instead of trying to just fill All Might's shoes.
Is no one else bummed about the fact that when Bakugo said to todoroki "oh yeah then show me how u do it" the anime chose not to show the flashback of him overhearing todoroki's backstory during the sports festival???
Honestly, when i saw that in the manga the impression i got was bakugo acknowledging where todoroki is coming from and backing down. Its a small moment but i like it.
Endeavor is a size 10 shoe and needs to fill in a size 20 that is hard to fill in.
Endeavour's like 6'4 and I'm like 5'6 and shoe size is 9

To me that’s goods writing and character development through MHA. Humans nature have to be reflected well in order to achieve this level of popularity. I don’t like the MC but he surprises me with his drive to be number one. I’m more into todoroki and Bakugo growth due to the fact that they will have to scratch and claw to their dreams.

As someone whose read the manga a little past this point. He was an abusive monster and it'd take time, regardless of what kind of hero he is, for him to atone for the terrible things he's done, not only to his family but to those around him. Showing up to an equivalent of a school event, isn't going to atone for that.
He might have more depth, but with that dept there needs to be development towards him being 'decent', which raises some questions like... did the hero community/all might know about what he was doing to his family? Is it ever actually addressed publicly? Do they handle Shoto and his father's rocky relationship well enough or is it breezed over akin to an 80's montage?
SPOILERS
Shoto is slowly making his peace with Enji and has established boundaries. He has mentally separated the hero Endeavor from the man, and wants to use him to become a better hero.
Fuyumi wants the family to be whole again (and is aware that day probably won't ever come) and tries to rebuild relationships when she can.
Natsuo is still the most vocal about Enji trying to mend things. He wants to stay angry even if it thwarts the other family members' wishes and feels pressured to forgive. We don't know if he told his girlfriend about the family issues.
Rei enjoys every moment she gets with her kids. She understands Enji the most and seems oddly receptive to forgiving him eventually, but is not going to anytime soon.
Enji is basically trying to do whatever his family wants, and believes removing himself from the picture entirely might be the best option for them. He wants to buy a home for all the Todorokis to live in except himself so Rei can leave the hospital.

Well the major point of this episode is that being the "number one" hero is more than just power and rank. Its about inspiring and showing people they can be better. It just took a long time for endevor to realize that

Don’t think endeavor should try to fill all mights shoe he should try to be his own person don’t read the manga but this episode was very good for me to understand endeavor a bit more can’t wait to see what the future brings for his character (saw sjws complaining bout his development so I know it’s gonna be good)
