Loriot was one of the greatest comedians and writers of post-war Germany. His comedy often carried a subtle social critique of society. His career began as a cartoonist and illustrator for a major newspaper, and eventually led to a series of popular television shows, which included both live-action sketches and his animated "Knollenmännchen" cartoons. This work later culminated in several wonderful feature films, all of which were shot in live-action. His Christmas specials are still a staple in many German households during the holiday season. Loriot, along with his almost constant collaborator Evelyn Hamann, became legends in German comedy and an integral part of the country’s cultural history.
Baron Bernhard-Viktor Christoph-Carl von Bülow aka Loriot was a grand master of sophisticated humor. He never needed to have a pre-rehearsed laugh, he simply exaggerated strange and funny socially familiar situations and contradictions to the maximum. His characters are usually set in the upper class and he likes to take aim at their peculiarities.
Loriot was a genius. This sketch is a fantastic persiflage to parliamentarism and how the parties deal and negotiate with each other or negotiate regulations. With love from Germany ❤🤘🏻
Well... Not exact. It's more about the confrontations, between trade unions and the employers, durin' the 70's. I was a child back then, but I remember this conflicts very well. And it was the time of great inflation (at least since end 1973) and big income expands, because of it. 7% more a year, are not seldom seen, back in the days. And that is only one aspect of it...
He had a series on TV and he made at least 2 movies. Vico von Bülow was his real name. He called himself "Loriot" because he loved everything French (loriot is a bird, oriole in English) because this bird is in his coat of arms (they are nobility).
Loriot is a very special gem. It's not normal, often bad, comedy but just Loriot. It thrives on the exaggeration and the resulting idiocy of the protagonists. For me this is the best that is possible in this area.
This is actually Loriots best and most famous creation. It originally translates to "men in a bathroom" with the sentence: `THE DUCK STAYS OUT!´ being one of his most iconic phrases. Unfortunatly Loriot passed away a few years ago and was put to rest in a huge family grave in Berlin (he came from a German aristocratic family: Vicco von Bülow was his real name) and the Gravestone shows no reference to Loriot. However this didn´t stop the fans: it´s now tradition to leave a rubber ducky at the gravesite in loving memory of him and his work true to "The duck STAYS out!!" ... tending the grave includes that larger amounts of those duckys must be removed sometimes in order not to create a hill 😅...it´s THAT many. May he rest in peace 🦆🛁
Loriot, civil name Bernhard-Viktor „Vicco“ Christoph-Carl von Bülow passed in 2011 at the age of 87. The woman at the end and his long term sketch partner Evelyn Hamann, civil name Eveline Braun passed in 2007 at the age of 64. Loriot said goodbye to his deceased partner Evelyn Hamann in the Beckmann programme on 29 October 2007 with the words: ‘I have lost a loyal partner and we have all lost a wonderful actress who always managed to overcome the difficult aspects of life through comedy.’ Addressing Hamann himself, he added: ‘Dear Evelyn, your timing was always perfect, only today you were out of sequence. Well wait...’
I remember one instance when hubby, I and a group of others were meeting for cream tea in a small café in Poole, Devon. Somehow, the conversation veered to Loriot, and half a dozen people ended up just quoting from his sketches at each other for over an hour. Good times! 🙂
This man was really good at holding the mirror in front of german society and exaggerated it in such a way, like it all happening in a bathtub, that most people failed to actually notice it and this one is a prime example that has a lot of truth to it even today.
There's at least 2 other animated Loriot sketches with english subs. 'I just want to sit here' and 'at the races'. The latter has only the animation by Loriot but not the script. Then there's a normal sketch 'Das Bild hängt schief' which i've seen with subtitles also, but there's only little spoken text.
Next time you sit in an important meeting with some important men, there will be moments when you suddenly are reminded to that skit. In Germany we sometimes say: "The dug stays out"
To answer your question: Victor von Bülow (his real name besides the artists name Loriot) was born in 1923. He passed away in August 2011 and was buried in Berlin. But he really is a legend and I guess Germany will never forget him! Maybe if you ask google for his real name, you might find some information about him in English.
Love from Belgium 🇧🇪 ❤ You should watch Rocky from Rémi Gaillard, there’s also Rocky 2 (the music must be removed for copyright but we all know the songs and musics of the movies) ❤
hello if you want one documentary of french win in the Pays de la Loire ( 1 h of vision ) : France’s Most Charming Wine Region? Wine, Castles, and Food in Loire! Think you for your lot of reaction i love it ( sorry for my English )
I always thought it was a parody of the political discussions in the german parliament. The name Müller-Lüdenscheid tells it. Müller is a common name and to make it clear who the person really is, they add the name of his constituency. Like Smith-Knoxville or Miller-Orlando in USA. The politicians were and are always squabbling about ridiculous things. The language changed a bit over time.

@melchiorvonsternberg844 huhu. Bin auch ein Kind der 70ziger. Deine Interpretation ist auch schlüssig. Frohe Feiertage.
@@spring_in_paris Ja... Sehr frühe Gen X. Dir auch ein frohes Fest und einen guten Beschluß (wie die Franken sagen würden)...
Absolute legend. I loved his sketches as a child back in the day!

She is his sketch partner. The great Evelyn Hamann.

In movie ,The longest day ' Bernhard von Bülow, Oberleutnant and Iron Cross holder acted as side character ( lower staff officer).

Again - he was simply brilliant!

Probably not exactly this conversation ,but in general...it's funny, cause it's true.

"Der für den Münzeinwurf vorgesehene Münzeinwurfschlitz..."
Saaaaay, you haven't had heard of "Bernd das Brot" by chance? If not, look it up together with the term "Nerd". 😊
This man was really good at holding the mirror in front of german society and exaggerated it in such a way, like it all happening in a bathtub, that most people failed to actually notice it and this one is a prime example that has a lot of truth to it even today.
Just imagine Tarantino makes such a conversion... vince & jules in a bathtub talking about le big mac i can totaly see it.

Did you reupload these? Or was it on your other channel? I could have sworn...
me too
It is a re upload.
Loriot is the French word for oriole, the heraldic animal of the von Bülow family.
I once went to a live performance of this skit. Yes, they were naked. But they didn't get through it without giggles.
I do not know what is sooo funny Mr. D. it is a typical German bath discussion. 🙂;-)
Men don‘t grow up, they just get older. 😁
😂😂😂😂 Legend.
Hi, mister D, I would like to see your reaction to Les Inconnus - Le chevalier de Pardaillec, if it's possible, of course! Love from France :)

This is so German, I am nearly ashamed. But No, we are great.
I think this one is a parody of the german government/politicians.
No. it is funny, because this two men speak very formal in an absurd situation.
re up right?

This is for you, belgian comedy show, public french service rtbf ruclips.net/video/waA-U1naoVM/видео.html
I think that sketch portrays the political parties of our country. They like to beat around the bush on a problem until they find a compromise
