the TJ Klune book covers are full 3D sets with puppets and the covers are photographs of those sets. They're made by Red Nose Studio.
They do some fabulous stop gap type animation, their instagram is brilliant to watch with some of the reels they put up. My friend Sophie she has had her book covers revamped by the same studio and they have smashed it with how good they look.
I loved Floating Hotel! One of my favourites books of the year so far. It’s so good and has so much more going on than I expected from the page count 👻

I immediately suggested Floating Hotel for my library to get. I also am collecting the The Bone Season BB editions and I'm worried about how much the other books will break the bank. I also somehow have collected the regular hardcover editions...and I recently bought the paperback of the first one so I can annotate it. 😅 I have no chill. 👻

I'm still putting off starting the Red Rising series, because based on comments from both Becca and yourself, I feel like I'm going to fall in love with and then tragically lose some imaginary book friends on the journey. I don't think I'm emotionally ready for that at the moment 🙈.
I'm listening to Gideon the Ninth at the moment (props to Moira Quirk; 10/10 narration, no notes), and despite writing myself a cheat sheet of who's who from all the different houses, I'm entirely at sea - but absolutely loving it! I've never enjoyed being baffled so much. There's almost no exposition, and none of the characters have the complete picture, either, which I think helps to make it interesting rather than frustrating for me. I can completely understand why some people absolutely hate it.

I read Mrs. March last year and I personally didn’t think it was very mystery/thriller-y. It read as lit fic to me. But there definitely is an element of “is this really happening or is she imagining things?” So you may still love it!

Going to Scotland next month from the states - if you could recommend one bookstore that I must see, what would it be? I'll be all over the country so any answer is fair game. Unfortunately I'm coming just a bit too late for the lit festival in Ed :( but still want to have at least one good bookstore stop while I'm there :)

I work in publishing and sadly there is literally nothing you can do when your fullfillment center is doing a poor job. There is so much attached that you as a customer cannot see (contracts, costs) that make it almost impossible to switch you fullfillment center. The company I work for is also deeply dissatisfied with the quality of the fullfillment center but switching to another will take years and probably 7-figure costs. :( It really sucks.
I was so disappointed by the lack of dinosaurs in Mislaid in Parts Half-Known, they were there for two chapters tops... It's too bad that the cover is misleading, because the book was great
Unfortunately I wasn't a fan of the Floating Hotel. It did something with the narrative that I have found I don't like in books as it, for me, holds me at arms length and doesn't allow me to sink into a book. I hope you have better luck!

Omg solid agree. Whyyyyyyy did they lure me in with dinosaurs only for there to be what felt like three pages of dino-content 😭
I read an ARC copy of Spitting Gold and was... just meh on it. I feel like the way the author wrote it didn't quite work for me. Definitely interested to see what you think about it!

Tired of book hauls being the average person I just can't keep buying books.
Then..........don't watch them?? Or alternatively use them as a resource to build a TBR that you then access through your local library 🤷♀
This is literally her job, and this is free content Lianne is putting out there so if she wants to do a haul you don't have to watch it, you can watch all the other free content she puts out like reviews that she wouldn't be able to do without buying the books.
