@@hunterMH1I think it's because the shin guard doesn't cover the heel.
@@hunterMH1 just a joke, however in sparring you're usually not trying to use bone shattering points of your body "elbows, knees, heels, ECT." It kinda falls on both parties. Sometimes though it's necessary to understand where power lies in certain techniques.

Show whole video. Did anyone get hurt here, going pretty hard and fast. I tried to convince my friend to do this with me, but he wouldn't put on the head gear. Made for a very careful fight, but this is awesome. Love to see this with full body armor going full force

Nah, coming from a TDK practitioner he was just playing.
He's not striking to kill you can tell by the way his toes are curled. If he was going to kill shots they would all connecting on the heel.
He's halving his speed on the turning side/back kicks too

I'm not surprised. Jeff shuts down the ax , spinning back, and spinning back hook kicks with distance and head movement. He catches kicks. He also picks him apart with his hands.
Jeff you're just the best. You're drive and willingness to engage in high intensity sparring combined with your open mindedness toward all disciplines and you're incredibly insightful fight breakdowns makes you a unique treasure in the MA space.
I would love to see you organize a pressure testing tournament; get some real hard style TKD, JKD, wing chun and other more obscure arts (keysi,, savate, etc.) together to hard spar.

Great spar, Jeff! I’ve always had issues with range against tkd guys. Always opted to take them down or leg kick them (if they’re not acclimated). From long range, they are a problem! This guy in the video was particularly good

Damn, that was fun to watch, but I gotta say, he lit you up good. Feel like you underestimated him at first, because you started getting him good in the end, or he got gassed from all the fancy kicks. Of course I haven't seen the full session, for all I know you were killing it the entire time, but this TKD guy has some serious skill.

That is what a real tkd black belt looks like if you train in a real dojo and don't get a black belt in 2 years I've trained tkd for 7 years and only at red I've been mixing my tkd with kickboxing though and they blend very well together
