I was nervous watching this lesson play out, I remember my first lesson which I thought it would be easy and I'd love it. 15 mins into the lesson and I was terrified and didn't like driving at all, I felt so out of control as there was so much to think about. As someone who has now been driving for 30 years you really forget how much you have to think about as a learner .. respect to both the learner and driving instructors .. I reckon you need pretty good nerves to teach someone how to drive :-)
Well done Ben . The first lesson is always the hardest and it will get easier . There is a lot to remember but it will become second nature to you. When I had my first few lessons I had tunnel vision . It will not remain nerve racking it will get easier and easier until you just get in the car and don’t even think of being nervous . Aman is an amazing instructor
It's fascinating to see the gears (lol) turning in his head as he is learning. I'm addicted to these videos even though I'm from an entirely different country and I've had my license for 7 years 😄
Even if she didn’t say who’s brother this was I think just by them facial features we all knew it was Erin’s brother, the smile gives it away and yes it would be awesome if Erin joined in a lesson one day
I'm from Mexico, I live in Mexico city, I've been driving for 28 years, and still I watch every single Aman's videos because they are so entertaining, and she's so talented and gorgeous.
After watching several shorts with Aman, I just watched this video to relax after work. I got my driving licence in Germany almost 30 years ago. The recordings reminded me how complex it is for a learner driver. But thanks to Aman's detailed and good explanations in her pleasant and calm voice, it's easy to learn to drive. Many thanks for the video
As someone training to be a driving instructor, your videos are not only helpful and informative, especially in the calm way you instruct, they are also entertaining. I finally had my part two and passed on monday after twice being cancelled. Your videos certainly have help keep me focused and motivated during those frustrating moments.
I did 5 lessons like 2 years ago and then drove with family for about 15-20hours the last month and somehow passed first time with 3 minors, watching mocks really helped though! Thank you
Excited for this series. Loved Erin's journey even though i caught up with it later. Planning on becoming a driving instructor in Greece myself and watching these videos helped me before my test, after and still improving my driving and will help me at my instructor journey as well. Started learning bike now to start getting the licences of the rest 4 categories,as we need them all here (A, B, C, CE, D). and yes i never learned to bike as a child apart from a bike with training wheels and im learning now at 22 so i can get the motorcycle licence 😂
as someone who is also a begineer learner I can remember doing my first lesson its the most dornting at first but after your second lesson it gets better trust me.
I passed my test on Tuesday (9th), first time😆 I watched a lot of your videos whilst doing my lessons which helped a lot, I’ll probably still keep watching them aswell😂
This will be helpful for me as a beginner learner. Had 10 hours of lessons about 18 months ago but then my mum passed away and haven’t been back at it. This will be helpful though for when I go back to it
If you hadn't pointed out that he was Erin's brother, I would've been scratching my head trying to figure where I'd seen him before 😆. Very nice to see a brand new learner lesson. It's been a while 😊
I love watching your videos, and he did amazing, but him crossing his arms gives me anxiety 😂❤ it takes me back to my nursery route. Pull push will definitely help when he masters it. He drives very well for lesson 1. Well done
Watching from Bangalore, India. I enrolled in a driving school with the dream of learning to drive. The instructor promised 8 kms a day on busy roads from day one, but every day he made it challenging with his impatient attitude, especially when I made mistakes. He was often on his phone and even used me for his personal errands, which added to the frustration. Despite understanding the controls, his behavior caused unnecessary panic. Watching your video is refreshing; I appreciate how calmly you point out mistakes without yelling. It's a great video to learn from. Thank you!
Ben - besides having a great first name - you did really well. Coordinating steering, brakes, clutch and accelerator (plus wipers and indicators) is no easy task for the first time, but you (mostly) did it pretty well. My daughter just started driving too but in an automatic so a bit easier. Aman is a great instructor so you're in good hands. btw, did anyone notice at 28:56 - the lady crossing the road - do not do what she did here over here in Australia (or in the UK, probably)! She just walked out without looking right to see if anyone was turning into the road! Crazy!
A good technique that my instructor taught me was the push pull method with a steering wheel cover before I started driving it’s a great method to study as it has so many benefits which is your hands never cross 12 so if you do crash and tge air bag goes off your not going to knock all your teeth out with your watch and you keep more control of the vehicle
Just had my first lesson on Monday so it's kinda nice to see someone in the sma boat as me. Clutch was surprisingly not as difficult as what I thought it would be, though it's quite tough at times to coordinate both the steering and pedals at the same time
I just passed recently, your videos helped so much! Thank you for being so informative and easy to understand. I must admit its much nicer to watch these once youve passed haha. ❤🎉😊
Great first lesson I feel! You know, as an 12+ year driver who is almost never a passenger anymore, I now have the opposite issue that Ben was having with positioning. I’m so used to the driver position that whenever I’m a passenger, I feel like the driver is far too over to the left! Nope, in fact it is me on the left 😂 Aman, I really wish I had you as an instructor! In a world where I feel drivers are getting worse (on their phones etc), I feel confident in the drivers you are making!
Well done Ben!! I feel like his clutch control will help him, much better to be slightly too slow/low than too fast and stalling Now we just need to learn that steering and accelerating is a lot more sensitive than you think and he’ll be off to a flyer
Interesting that you teach students to clutch before brake, coming to a stop. In Queensland, we are incredibly struct on habits that lead to clutch coasting when travelling to a stop.
Hello Ben and welcome, I love Aman's videos I watched all Erin's lessons. That was a really good start, it gets easier you'll get a lot better. I'd give you a little tip for the steering wheel, get a Frisbee or round plastic lid off something, don't use a dinner plate Mamas tend to get upset if you drop them and break them! Practice passing the whatever in your hands, ps don't use a wooden chopping board either, they hurt if you drop them and hit your feet! Looking forward to your next video.
I’ve had 3 driving instructors and I’m learning from this that my first driving instructor taught me nothing on my first lesson (it was 2 hours aswell) no wonder it’s been a year and I’m only just doing manoeuvres
Love watching your content. I passed my test 38 years ago and find interesting as to the lack of use of the hand break at junctions and when pulling off. Also there seems to be a lot of hand crossing when steering, this was a big no no back in my day, but I guess this is a sign of the times. I have however found myself checking my blind spots more now since watching your vlogs :-)
I just bought my first Manual Transmission Vehichle about 2 weeks ago. 😅 So far its really fun but i often worry about burning out my poor clutch disc. I haven't droven on a street yet and im still in the parking lot but hopefully i will get used to it soon... Seeing this is really awesome! Here in the USA we often have to learn on automatic only :/
I drove in UK with my Indian driving license last month , I am very much surprised how much Lane discipline was there on Highways & Towns . The Crystal clear markings on Road what to do and what not do made driving experience so much safe and fun.
Aman is the best instructror you could ever ask for. She's just a gem.. so passionate, calm and smart. This video is really chef's kiss 🤌🤌 Off to a very great new series Lots of love from Italy
Hearing you make a point of the heel off the carpet was interesting. I found during my learner period with instructor that pivoting the heel on the floor gave for better control and clutch feel. Both for the instructor's and my first car. However with my new car (second) it doesn't feel comfortable as the pedals are floor mounted rather than top.
One thing I will say about footwear is I found it very hard to drive in running shoes (still do) as the bite point requires delicate balance particularly in many newer cars that have a stiffer clutch. I found it far easier to wear flat shoes with not much sole/heel on the bottom, you can really feel the pedals better and you tend to not apply too much pressure. PS Well done Ben on your first lesson. Trust me everything feels far more natural once you get into the swing of it, that first drive is always very weird feeling.
Ok, so ben is doing really well so far. He'll be practising right turns next, and right turns aren't easy at all, but l hope that eventually he'll be ready to it independently
I come across this channel quite often and wonder why learner drivers are no longer taught to give a toot of the horn when passing a parked bus and at other appropriate moments. Using the horn seems to be a "dying art". Further, I am a member of the IAM and woùld advise all new drivers to take the IAM course to hone their skills.

I was literally thinking the same thing!!
Me too 😀
Exactly what I was thinking!
Aman is their Family driving instructor. Looking forward to seeing her first born's lessons in ~20 years in self driving flying car.
Don't think you'd need lessons in 20 years for self driving cars😂

That’s amazing 🤩:) well done
Woah, that's actually amazing

That was a very normal first lesson, he's not doing anything better or worse than a brand new learner. Keep going Ben, you've got this.
