This is Amy (builder of this map). I want to give proper credit to the gentlemen who provided MY inspiration and software. Yan Hassell posted his project on Facebook and Justin Silva wrote the specific software that I used. The software is open source and can be found at github.com/JJSilva/NeoSectional
I'd put up a big LCD screen or tablet to display this info for an international feel: aviation.globalincidentmap.com/ Actually just any internet kiosk with a default home page with links to all kinds of real time aviation information and maps in your lobby would be the most useful, that wasn't complete locked down, so people could also check their email and messages from it or surf whatever you wanted. Sometimes people don't have an internet device with them or forget to bring it. The person probably using it most often will be you yourself. For those that do, have a free wifi not-locked down access point with some range so people could even connect from their phone or tablet from out in the plane or parking lot and pull up maps, weather, and METAR information on their own before a flight.
The URL for Dylan's page displayed in the video is missing a trailing lower-case L. Here's the correct URL: blog.dylanhrush.com/2017/07/live-sectional-map.html
I'm new to the Rpi and am a very novice at programming, but was able to get it operating IF I keep using the airports file included with the JJSilva site. When I try and edit to change the airports to my desired list of airports (Chicago Sectional), the only results that I get are N/A. What is odd, is that when I review the metar data that is captured, it has the appropriate weather conditions in the results, but the program is not converting that to the LED setting string properly. Anyone else have any trouble with getting their own airport selections to work?

Is there no way to get online aviation wx observation data for the non-metar airports?
The more lights the merrier :)
Can you put a list of where you bought the parts please. It would have been nice to add. Great video

Downloaded ---> Thank you!!
Mapping, GIS, surveying and aviation are about my favorite things other than meteorology and a few other fields. They seem to go together well
Excellent ! ! Thanks for sharing this tips. Well done for Amy ;-)

Although I liked the idea, I am using aeroweather application on my iPad for these features and more.
