I used to be a veterinary assistant that worked with clients in the exam rooms. Sometimes we had police dogs come in! We scheduled them specifically during the lunch hour so they wouldn't have other dogs or uneducated people trying to mess with them. These are strong and magnificent dogs. Total respect!
I always wonder how local vets are prepared for an emergency with a police dog. Obviously they have a primary they go to and an emergency vet but I know when the president travels local emergency rooms are prepped, I want to imagine vets are like that with police dogs bc they’re that important too. Like if one is injured and the cops call the vet letting them know they’re coming in. I imagine dramatic medical tv drama ensues. Staff runs to get supplies ready, the room is stocked with supplies and staff waiting for the dogs arrival. I’m sure it’s not that dramatic. But those videos when police dogs are released after being injured are so emotional! The honor line and welcome home always makes me cry haha

Attacking a police dog should be the same as attacking a king an officer. These dogs play a huge role in bringing down suspects, they fast they quick and their sense of smell is amazing, they do more in bringing down suspects than humans do
I volunteer as a mounted deputy. It varies by jurisdiction, but attacking or threatening a police animal is usually a crime of some sort. I have seen people arrested and charged more than once for attacking an animal. Trying to take an officer off a horse is also a serious crime, some jurisdictions consider it deadly force and may be responded to accordingly.
As it stands currently your precious family dog is legally only considered property. It's the same for K-9s; they are legally tools and department property. If you want to put them in the same standing as a human officer then that also means they need to be as legally culpable as human officers. I don't think police departments would appreciate that change considering you cannot hold a dog accountable for its behavior as you could another human.

But, at least in my jurisdiction, they have greater protection than a pet or livestock. Colorado Revised Statutes 18-9-202 outlines the offenses and penalties associated with harming a police dog or horse. It may be a misdemeanor or felony depending on the act and record of the offender. I assume these rules vary by state

People need to stop blaming everything on mental health. Its the most over diagnosed problem in history. Every single person I know under the age of 25 has anxiety, or autism, or adhd, or is bipolar. And despite being medicated for it, all of them use it as excuses for them doing shitty things all the time. I don't disagree. I'm not sure if it's the case here, but the massive drug problem underlies most of the mental health issues. Many people predisposed to mental instability, will never develop them unless they start messing with drugs. You can't use something affecting the brain and expect the brain to continue to function in a healthy way. I truly don't know the long-term solution. It's getting worse.
Cant use a taser like that when other officers are wrestling him. The officers will get shocked too. Saw the same thing on another bodycam vid, guy was fighting on the ground and one cop kept tasing when the other cops were wrestling the guy. The kept yelling at taser cop because they were all getting shocked.

@@CornpopBadDude no, people import these from japan because they are cooler than the usdm spec cars. For instance in america that car would be called an is300 but in japan its an altezza. The Japanese spec came with a 5 speed transmission stock vs the usdm automatic. Often times on the stock cars will have better parts either engine or suspension. Alot of very cool cars from japan were never sold here at all or we wernt given certain trims of a car due to emissions regulations. In the recent years people have been able to finally import these cars to the usa because they are 25+ year old cars becoming excluded from that regulation.

The Japanese spec came with a 5 speed transmission stock vs the usdm automatic. Often times on the stock cars will have better parts either engine or suspension. Alot of very cool cars from japan were never sold here at all or we wernt given certain trims of a car due to emissions regulations. In the recent years people have been able to finally import these cars to the usa because they are 25+ year old cars becoming excluded from that regulation.

There were two incidents of someone attacking a police *HORSE* in my area several years ago. Both times it was sports fans celebrating/rioting after their team won a championship. It's a Philly thing
