Bruh I completely agree with T'au being one of the more difficult armies to play right now. I started finding success with them when I started using objectives as traps for your Breachers in Devilfish. Basically bait the opponent onto the obj then shoot them off the next turn. One fun thing with Devilfish as well is they can advance and still spot for the Breachers coming out that turn. The rule says models who are eligible to shoot can guide and Devilfish have an assault weapon so technically they can guide. All that to say, it's still really hard to win consistently because it feels like you're playing with half an army. At least until we get Mont'Ka that is. Great video man, got a new sub from me!
Thanks for the comment and Sub! Fish of Fury is definitely a viable strategy again! Hazzah!
“I basically time walked my opponent, some of you will get that” 😂aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand subbed
🤣 At least someone got it!
Made me smile
What does It mean? Sorry, Just curious 😊

The man, the myth, the legend. Thank you!
I love the broadsides, you can usually just put them in reserves, or use them to cover a fire lane. A lot of people I've played against seem to expect them to be not great, and so don't treat them with the respect they deserve. Those people tend to immediately lose their heaviest vehicles or monsters to broadside fire. Also, tip for broadsides, go 1 shield drone and 1 missile drone. This puts you at 9 wounds, which is just under the threshold of them providing an extra point for your opponent, and just over the threshold where they can be 1-shot by a lucky melta or similar. It also gives you a missile drone, which is surprisingly good due to AP-2. You could also give them a marker drone instead, but I find I don't need them to have it personally, as long as I build my lists right.
Also, I hate to say it after how they murdered its stats, but the riptide is surprisingly good at its current points cost. It does a little more damage than the ghostkeel, and it also just doesn't die to most things. It tends to draw even more attention and live longer than the ghostkeel, while also doing a bit while it remains alive.
I used to run 3x broadsides before the Dev wounds change. They were disgusting hahaha. They are still good and I love your point about manipulating their wounds. I filmed this before the balance dataslate, so I do agree that the riptide is in a spot where it is useable now. Just wish it could get dev wounds all the time and become hazardous like a forgefiend, but hey, at 165 pts (or whatever), thats definitely looking interesting. And I have 3 of them fully painted and they look dope, so it would be nice to put a couple on the table!
I run battlesuits, always have, and they are super strong, im still sat at 100% winrate with my army over at least 25 games, even went 3-0 at a local tournement, faction rule is still strong
I absolutely play tau surgically....
So glad to see people having success!
Great video. Very true what you said about split firing and sometimes needing to kill multiple units at once. I'm trying a single big brick of crisis with lots of other smaller firepower units to give flexibility to kikl mutliple units more easily, eg. Hammerheads, solo commanders, breachers etc. of course it means I need more observers but I find piranhas after they jave shot their seeker missiles are great for secondary observers.
Looking forward to the list discussion.
I am hoping to bring an entire series regarding my list building quite soon! (I own WAY TOO MANY armies). Tau will be first up!
Shocked by how few subs there are for the quality here
Cries that broadsides are 110 points now, /sad
I cried a literal river!
Mont'ka For Life!
What units do you think are good from the Tau index?
Besides crisis... the tigershark, skyrays, both versions of the Hammerhead.
I hate to say it, but riptides are good now. I really would rather have a more expensive unit with, IDK, ACTUAL RULES, but at 165 pts. they seem to have become a slightly tankier/more damaging ghostkeel with less utility. Great for attracting attention and blocking your opponents movement and charges.
@@alpheausfeltham9532 I do agree that with the balance dataslate, the riptide is something to consider. STILL NOT SOLD! But I do think an argument can be made that they are now playable. I just wish they could get dev wounds every turn and just become hazardous or something.
@@theoryhammernerds They need to be 220 ish points per, but then have a gun that actually threatens the imperial knights it was in-lore designed to take down... Basically make it S9-10 at the very least. Then give it the choice of three abilities again that it's had forever, and that pretty much every other faction has gotten on a unit this edition except tau for some reason.
@@alpheausfeltham9532 Yeah, like, wasn't the Riptide created *specifically* to combat Imperial knights?
the only game i've ever won was because my crisis suits tabled my opponent; any advice for leaning into just tableing well?
try to roll your dice behind the terrain, that way you can say they are all 6s and kill with Dev wounds, if your opponent questions your rolls call the TO/a judge on them for slow play/if one of their converted models is legal. Even if the judge ruling doesnt go in your favor its a victory in the mental game. Those sportsmanship points are for chumps anyhow, same with painting poiints, grey minis hold objectives just as well as "pro painted" ones if you really need them painted just use the easter egg method of dunking + stickers, they are GW decals; so what if i used a hot glue gun to apply them?
@@MrMaharg79 the ultimate scorched earth player 😂
Yes! Tau have a lot of units that just kill things, such as the hammerhead. I honestly just go for broke with tau and try to take as many output units as I can after I include my secondary units. I start lists by putting in the secondary units I want FIRST, then I add the damage units second. Usually it consists of a 6 man brick of suits with a coldstar, hammerheads and skyrays, devilfish with dudes inside. The devilfish with dudes inside are hilariously good for their pts. But honestly, trying to table your opponent is not a bad strategy, its just difficult if they hide behind the 10th ed terrain. If you reserve things like your hammerheads and skyrays, then you can get good angles when they come on and just blow things off the board and get those angles you couldnt by setting them up on the table to start.
@@theoryhammernerds thank you! This really eases my mind and validates me going all in, I really felt like I was going crazy not going for points!
Gw just updated the tiger shark.
LOL. CYCLICS BBY
