      In case you were curious about that Hit*** KFC reference at the end of the video, in 2013 some guy in Thailand thought it would be a good idea to open a Fried Chicken Joint were he took Colonel Sanders and superimposed a drawing of Hit*** over the face and called it Hit** Fried Chicken. Last time I checked it was still open but that was a while ago, KFC said they would sue but I never heard if they did or not.

    I've always found WW1 interesting because it was a transition between old style warfare and modern warfare. My Great Grandfather was a pilot for the RAC ( precursor to the RAF), he flew a Sopwith Camel
    and they started off just being used for recon, overtime they customised and developed thier aircraft to be able to dogfight and drop ordanance on the enemy. It must have been a crazy experience to see things develop so quickly and be on the forefront of wepeons development.

    Offensive tactics were developed towards the end of the war. Things like combined arms (the coordinated use of planes and tanks and creeping artillery barrages fired in front of advancing troops, the use of assault troops equiped with submachine guns and offensive grenades, etc).
    PS: Machine guns were mainly used as defensive weapons.

    If you want to make a ww1 minecraft game mode you will need a big dirt field divided into two. Everyone gets bows and arrows and shovels. And give everyone berry Bushes or spider weebs since it's the closet thing in minecraft to razor water. Also if you get hit with 1 arrow you need to take cover or dodge arrows and count to something like 10. If you get twice you must retreat because people can't take a thousand arrows and keep walking like minecraft. Also to win you must take over and control both teams trenches because the other team can take over yours if you just focus on rushing the opponents and not guarding yourself

    Funny you bring up the "what if?" of the Treaty of Versailles. From a socioeconomic standpoint, there likely was a possibility that it could have been avoided. Part of what got that snowball rolling in Germany could have been slowed, but there would still be a strong possibility that many events in the late 1920s that started that descent into darkness were still going to happen anyway. I think the craziest thing about 1920s Berlin was it was the drug capital of the world during that time... more cocaine and heroin and meth were flowing into that place than poop into a cistern.

    Turf wars is a game mode on Mineplex, which is a big public Minecraft server, the premise is that there are two phases, Build and Attack. During the build phase you can’t attack or be attacked, but can build up walls and stuff, in the attack phase, you can attack the enemy and the enemy can attack you. When someone on your team or yourself kills an enemy you gain one row on the ground which is build area, and Everytime an enemy kills you or a teammate of yours, you lose a row of ground and while they gain it. Oh, everyone is one shot and dead then they respawn

    There is a game called Verdun, not really well known, but they handle the back and forth aspects of WW1 very well. Not a ton of people play it to my knowledge, but essentially defenders are forced to stay on their side unless they want to die, until if you hold it long enough you go on the offensive to try and take their trench. I've seen some matches go full stalemate but anyway, thought it might be something you didn't know about :)

    I feel like there still would’ve been a Second World War, regardless on whether or not the Entente was fair to the central powers. Because during the war, when Italy decided last minute to declare war on Austria-Hungary that they were wanting land that they believed were proper core Italian territory (these parts being around the coastline of what would later be known as Yugoslavia). So when the Entente handed out the land, Italy felt cheated. So because they had one the war they would still have that Patriotic Nationalistic pride that would later have them bring in Mousillini. And as we all know about how crazy Mousillini is, then I believe he would have reached out to other nations out there that had felt around the same after the war, kinda like Hejaz and maybe would try and cause a grand scale revolution in the colonies of the once previous leaders of the allies to get revenge and to later proceed with what Italy’s true intentions were in the war, which would be to annex the Croatian/Mediterranean Coast

Then they found themselves on a train to a trench. Romanticism of war is a real thing.

    • @Uselesscommentary

      Maybe. It was very back and forth in Europe at that time. It was also a stain on their new national pride

    • @MrJojux
      @MrJojux 4 года назад +1

      Possibly it wouldn't have. Can't say for sure, but as history is today, the treaty was one of the biggest reasons for Hitler to gain power, as he could prey on the desperation, fear and anger of the people.
      Of course something else could've caused WW2 or Hitler could've reached power through some other means, but that is just speculation.

    i think that the war reparations was one of the biggest reason germany feelt cheated and if the rest of the guys responsible for the threaty whent easier on them, things might have went differantly, and as i have heard that Theodore Roosevelt(it might have been Franklin D. Roosevelt that was arguing that) was arguing that it wasn't a good idea to be so harsh on Germany.
    Diclaimer: i dont know if the Roosevelt thing is true, it might be a rumor.

    @Mr. Terry WEELLLLL ... listen to what you are saying 6:03 - you are actually proving his point. By its very definition a "mounted" or "heavy" machine gun is mainly a defensive weapon. Why? because it's stationary and like you said it made the old style charging VERY hard. (and yes - if it's mounted on a vehicle it's obviously not stationary - just to get ahead of any wiseguy comments :-P) On top of this, stuff like Artillery is as much defensive as offensive - again - by making charges really difficult. On top of this you have innovations to trench warfare - like modern barbed wire (which are so insanely nasty), mortars, concrete installations, underground constructions, modern strategic defensive structures (such as massive networks of trenches with supply lines and angles making grenades less effective and so on) - and so many other things. All of them mainly - or at least partially defensively orientated. This was basically why most of the war was effectively a stalemate - especially on the western front: the defensive capabilities were greater than the offensive capabilities.

    • @Craider79
      @Craider79 2 года назад

      To explain it simply old fashion trench: ------------ New trench: VVVVVVVV (less of an angle - probably more the 45 degrees or so) ... Why? If the * is a grenade - think about how the shrapnel travels : -------*-------- vs VVVV*VVVV Basically you just reduced the amount of casualties by a lot - and you could "run behind" a corner if you noticed the grenade - where in the old days you were just SOL!

    If it were not for Hitler's and the Nazis' action I highly doubt that Germany would have been vilified to this extent. Mostly because of the treaty of Versailles was stupid and undoing it is justified.
