Regarding Henry Tandey, it is said that in a meeting with Chamberlain, Hitler told this story and had a painting of it in the room of his house Berghof in Berchtesgaden. However, there is a chance this story was forged, as Tandey was a war hero and wasn't currently there to dispute anything, Hitler could have used his name and the story to make himself look more friendly and grateful. "He went on to say that it was the best time of his life" Now thats how you know how demented he was. The front lines of WW1 were nothing but a human slaughterhouse for both sides. Nothing had ever been seen like it in previous wars. Soldiers fighting with modern warfare tactics and equipment with an old school war mentality and he enjoyed it. Wow he was a horrible human being but he must've been a good soldier to not only enjoy WW1 but also be awarded with the Iron Cross
@@LightgreenLP For Churchill yes. He was one of the main majors for the Gallipoli landings which was basically a slaughter of British and ANZAC troops so for him to say that he enjoyed the war while he was basically exempt from combat that left alot of soldiers mangled, shell shocked or dead is a bit fucked up
@@skaterpulse6746 Churchill was dismissed as first lord of the admiralty after the debacle in Gallipoli. He joined the army and did serve on the front for a while (coincidentally, in the belgian town where the bricks of my house were made). And there are a good amount of WW1 veterans who did in fact look back with joy on their time during the war. Especially in Germany, where they often ended up broke or even homeless after the war. But even in the allied nations there are examples of this. Not every sector was Ypres, the Somme or Verdun either, and some veterans just missed the camaraderie they had during the war.
With the US and the world censoring history and who did what... we need more unbiased objectivity from people like you brother. Thank you for the content. I’m sure they’re going to stop teaching it like this if they even do now a days. Being blind to history dooms us to follow it and repeat what we should have learned.

FUN FACT: Art appreciated before WW2 was really detailed artwork of people and gods etc. AFTER WW2 however... it was abstract art that a 2 year old could do. They just didn't want anybody else failing art school. UvU
Not always. It is easy to claim modern art is easy to do but many peaces are complex in ways that hyper realism didn't have. At the same time... Abstract art was great before WW2 as well.... I mean what about van Gogh or Munch. Abstract simply means that it is not an attempt to show the world exactly as observed. Hence not like a photo.

Yeah. I used to watch Mr. Terry for knowledge on foreign history but the time i watched you. I become your student and sucked the knowledge you blessed on me. So thank you and keep up the great content
I think some people should understand the context. You are an historian, someone who is definitively going to expand considerably the story told by the videos and give more perspective. People, he is not a common streamer that will just kept quiet or just say "oh, ahhh, woah". In fact, that is what makes these things interesting in the first place. If you watch a video about an historian reacting to something, you are here because you want to see how that historian will compare the contents of the video with the knowledge acquired so far until now, and see if he gaves an approval to it or not, perhaps even now knowing new parts of the overall puzzle, because we are always learning new elements. We are constantly evolving in that sense, we are never the same persons as before, as the famous philosopher Heraclitus said in one of his sayings: "Nobody can swim in the same river twice". I think that if a person wants to have the reactor to just say "oh, ahhh, woah", I would suggest to look into other youtube channels.
Glad I found your channel. Been watching a lot of Oversimplified over the last year, and I’m always happy to see someone fill in some of the gaps in the history info. Suggestion to name this format something like “Slightly less Oversimplified”?

The meeting where Hitler would have told the story was the first of the three in-person meetings with Chamberlain on September 13 1938 following the Sudetencrisis.
Speaks to how good the oversimplified videos are that I’ve watched them all the way through and still watching all of this. You’re doing a good job adding background and content, but still, the oversimplified channel is fantastic
I love it when you add stuff to the videos. helps fill in the gaps that oversimplified might gloss over and it does feel like a discussion!
Love ur vids man I will DEFINITELY sub ur a great guy
Great video ! I never heard that story about Tandy , I’m glad you shared that !
I enjoy oversimplified’s videos a lot and your reaction is a nice compliment
You’re videos are always so entertaining to watch. I’ve been following you since before you hit 10k subscribers but I always come back for me. Great stuff! I’ve always loved history and learning as much as I can. I thought about even making an Instagram account just to follow your trip to all the battlefields. Can’t wait to see the videos you post about that. Keep up the awesome work!
Thanks Nicolas. Glad to have you along for the journey.
Ok, I thought I was just in for another Oversimplified reaction and then you actually dig and pull out references and sites to critically evaluate that vid, you really provide substance to the term "historian". Cheers mate, I definately subscribe, much love from germany
I love oversimplified content! Btw I recently found your channel and you reacting/explaining this makes it easier for me to understand since i dont really know a lot about history. Hope you keep making great content like this!
Great video, I especially like the parts where you dive a bit into detail about a topic in the videos. Keep it up!
GREAT video commentary!
Couldn't be better...
Much appreciated!
And even though Ludendorff and possibly Hindenburg started the "stab in the back" myth, they were the ones who requested that the Kaiser abdicate and that Germany ask the Allies (actually Entente, but...) for a peace agreement
But of course the Germans expected that the peace would be according to Wilson's 14 principles, not the harsh terms of the Versailles Treaty
the British dude who chose not to shoot him may have created the worlds most devastating butterfly effect.
Awesome video, man. Just found your channel a couple of days back. Loved it. Definitely my favourite history reactioner. Besides Mr Terry. Also, because this video had been blocked in my country (Hungary) as well
Always glad to have a Hungarian here! My wife's grandfather's family was from Sajoszentpeter, so my wife and kids are all part Hungarian.
this is why my teachers dont want me to use Wikipedia cause they know that ill learn more from a historian and oversimplified and Wikipedia than in school and my knowledge will be more than the teachers
I can't stop watching these. The concise info from the video plus your commentary fills in any gaps🤙
"He went on to say that it was the best time of his life"
Now thats how you know how demented he was.
Churchill also said he enjoyed the war
@@LightgreenLP Well of course he did. He wasn't in frontline combat for most of the war so he would
@@skaterpulse6746 Still messed up to say that, right?
I just found your channel recently and your content is just amazing. Keep up the good work!
Thank you Anthony! Glad to have you here.
With the US and the world censoring history and who did what... we need more unbiased objectivity from people like you brother. Thank you for the content. I’m sure they’re going to stop teaching it like this if they even do now a days. Being blind to history dooms us to follow it and repeat what we should have learned.
Unfortunately, this OverSimplified video isn't available where I am (London, UK), so I'm glad to see it here. Excellent video 👍🏻🐐
Bro, imagine if that soldier had actually shot Hitler instead of letting him go
I love how you do these to give credit and funds to Oversimplified! These are just nice videos to watch and follow along with what is in the video. And it shows how well Oversimplified actually covers the information.
I love your videos I’m a big history person and Im learning so much from y’all! Keep doing your thing great sir!!!
8:09 he was about to say "who punished him severely"
Thank you for this reaction! Now I can watch your reaction AND another great oversimplified video in Estonia))
I love how when oversimplified says punished severely you say it at the same time 😂
Thank you so much! I watch this video often because the video is unavailable in my country: The UK You deserve another subscriber.
Interesting coincidence - my wife has just completed her bachelors in psychology and is going on to a masters, and hoping to specialise in conflict resulution,
It seems my wife and yours may have much in common.
Yeah. I used to watch Mr. Terry for knowledge on foreign history but the time i watched you. I become your student and sucked the knowledge you blessed on me.
So thank you and keep up the great content
Tysm one of the best history teachers out there
Thank you for posting such great content and helping me learn more about history
Fun Fact: this video was blocked in Germany and Poland
“Those that fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.”
-Winston Churchill
Love your stuff man, been binging before bed
8:55 anyone notice royal high (a roblox role play game) in the bar above?
Best way to repeat the catastrophe is by ignoring the first one as if it never happened instead of learning from it
Glad I found your channel. Been watching a lot of Oversimplified over the last year, and I’m always happy to see someone fill in some of the gaps in the history info. Suggestion to name this format something like “Slightly less Oversimplified”?
I can’t wait to see him react to the Russian revolution.
In france we don't have access to the original video but at least I got to see it through you so thank you :)
Glad to see my fellow NE Ohioans making such cool history content
As an English person, yes, we cannot watch this video where I live. Which is why I use nord VPN /j. Seriously though thank you for essentially reuploafing this video with extra info, very helpful
That poor Belgium flag though... What most people never seem to get right is the correct color sequence for the German flag 😂
I thought the german flag was black red yellow? 🇩🇪The belgian flag is black yellow red 🇧🇪
@@jenshendrickx2230 Yes. And in the classroom scene here they are flying the Belgium flag (although in reverse too) not the German one.
@@Danisachan yeahh i always thought that was strange because the german flag was right next to it
i mean, its not our fault that the people who created these flags have 0 creativity
@@Danisachan I bet you ten bucks that that was absolutely on purpose and I'm actually confused some people seem to think otherwise
I love history and you are amazing I love OverSimplified, and Now I subscribed to you. Great history guy.
In Germany we can't watch this video anymore it literally doesn't appear anymore we can only watch it through reactions
Lüge
@@jan-lukaskuhne1846 Nein ist es nicht! Ich kann es nicht beim original Oversimplified Kanal nicht mehr sehen ich habs ja früher da gesehen

Keep it up man, I found this channel few days ago and I really like it.
3:52 = SWEET HOME ALABAMA
I love this channel. It helps me with my goals of learning something new every day.
Excellent goal to have. It's mine as well.
@@VloggingThroughHistory I have a goal to start at Fort Sumner and work my way through every Battlefield. I have a bunch of cameras working on my filming. I'm a retired vet and would like to check all the stuff out before it's gone.
I love this guy I love that he is doing more vids
Wow, that’s some heavy level stuff at 4:35-4:45. Imagine being so ashamed of your family history and relatives that you simply refuse to have offspring and just allow yourself to die out.
Imo that is stupid as hell.
Even if I share blood with someone, that does not make me them.
Ironically blaming blood for evil actions sounds nazi as fuck.
I’m one of your old Subscribers, i love your channel. It will be nice if you could do Epic History TV World War 1 series.
Bro when they were talking about his fries. Describing his early life “ thought he was better than others his age, quick to anger, and incredible speaking once he got going” I was like “oh no that’s me I don’t like we’re this is going”
You can't watch this in the UK
Its actually blocked here in Germnay, Im not sure how to feel about this, because we are told, that if we forget, we will repeat. So if we cant learn about this Part of History, we might forget about them
