this explains why sometimes white mystery feels tingly and sometimes it doesn't because i have an allergic reaction to oranges and orange flavoring
i feel like there should be a slight warning for that on the mystery flavor but thats just me
@@lebronjames-eb4pe All the flavors are labeled as having "artificial flavors" and because orange isnt classified as a major allergen they dont have to label it furthur. It would be nice if companies were generally more transparent about ingredients but realistically anyone dangerously allergic to an artificial flavor is avoiding all fruit flavored candies because there is almost certainly cross contamination on the lines between flavors.

@@Meeptome yeah this is the exact reason i thought it was safe. thankfully my allergy is more minor when it comes to the artificial flavor but it's still an allergy, just not a common enough one for people to think about.

I honestly thought it was a Airhead that wasn't flavored yet, so it was just the Airhead Taffy without the flavor, although it did have a vague flavor sometimes.

I heard once that mystery flavors can also be from when they switch production lines on Mass produced stuff. They drop out the color but the raw material will still have some residual flavor from the first batch. So if they're making cherry then switch to orange there's some overlap before it only tastes like orange. So they cut the color and make mystery.
That's how the dumdums mystery flavor works I believe

I'm not a big taffy person either, but I had a "mystery" flavored airhead once. It was weird, but not unpleasant.
I figured this out as a kid by thinking about it. Still the 90s. It always tasted like two different flavors. I knew a machine made the candies. So I just assumed they changed flavors mid run and capitalized on the previous waste product. Hooray for corporations figuring out how to profit on waste byproduct. Remember, kids, gasoline used to be a cleaning agent.

Love this stuff, I mostly get chocolates but really should buy a pack of these. One isn't enough. I figured depending on the amount of citric acid used it makes orange and lemon or lime or sour apple flavorings so same is used here, a mystery amount of citric acid and another few chemicals.
These are my favourite! I live in Canada so is there a difference or no?

The mystery ones where im from are just random flavors that are already available (in my area). So basically for me its either blue raspberry watermelon or cherry, thats it. You may be right that its leftovers, but it doesnt taste like multiple flavors mixed together, just a random pick of those 3 flavors. If your wondering, its not colored like the regular ones, just white like theyve always been so you dont know until you take a bite
