This band ages like fine wine 🔥🔥
So much it became whiskey!
Every good wine needs a cracker
🍷🗿- “good shit”
@@Meetallica4everbands full of em’
@@chrisving91 and whiskey is bad
Metallica has formed the music taste of 3 generations of people and still kicking on all cylinders. Let that sink in...
They keep up with em oil and spark plug changes
@@thebeautyofmetal I'd say not bad, considering all the trash 'additives' they've had over the years
It is very astounding. 30 years Ive had with these legends, icons, masters. so many memories and good times. The funny thing for me is...i DO NOT Have a favorite song. You can literally play me ANY song and i will air guitar or air drum to all of them. We are blessed to be a part of in my opinion, One of the greatest bands EVER in the world.
WTF does that sink want now? It's just gonna leak.
@@BENNYB-ze4dw do you like "We did it again" with Ja Rule, tho?
These guys have been killing it all tour, and it’s been a treat to see. Hope they announce more dates after 2024.
AUSTRALIA IS READY FOR OUR DATES!!!
@@jyejye1077 you know they tour schedule is fully booked till the end of 2024 right. They ain’t coming back here.
@@theearthrexden The year after 2024. Sure they're not coming back to Donington, but there's so many other places to add.
Brazil is ready to welcome them to rock in Rio in 2024
@@jyejye1077 James has been repeatedly asked about Australia and he just shuts the question down. If they come back to Australia it won’t be till at least 2025
No band in the world has aged as well as Metallica
I think you're right. I've seen a lot of bands...including Metallica back in the early '80s and can't think on one that is at their level and still bringing the energy. Maybe Iron Maiden is the other. Anthrax too.
anthrax has aged even better
Lars single-handedly proves that wrong emphatically
Right… Maiden’s energy remains off the charts in their live shows, as well as Anthrax. Both bands retain the bulk of their core essential lineups. Metallica’s live energy is not all that much compared to the other two
Overkill, Anthrax, Candlemass, Immortal, etc. Hear more music
They are in early 60s but looks like still in their prime. All hail Metallica
Late 50s
Not prime at all
Their energy is infectious still! Can't wait to see them with Pantera!
@jongbong1912 half of them are 60 no?
@@GratitudeRxHealingArtssame bro.. im going to the Montreal show and can't wait
I think this might be the best performance of this song I've ever heard from Metallica! James's singing was so SO good and the new twists he added to the vocal melody were great, and Rob's harmonies were absolutely PERFECT. The playing was TIGHT, the solo and harmonies were CLEAN and the mix was great!
My thoughts EXACTLY!!!!!
I'd say this is running neck and neck with the video of them singing it at Slane Castle in Ireland about 5 years ago.
And the crowd was digging it!
It didn't sound like that in real life they were extremely poor live and boring
@@sniperlad182 How was Donington Castle in person aside from it sounding poor and boring? I would love to go there
The ultimate sign they are old is the fact Rob doesn't have his bass hanging down to knee level anymore lol. Jokes aside, they sound fantastic
Damn, now i notice that
I noticed a year or two ago that he's been slowly but surely inchining it up up for a while. It definately looks a lot more comfortable where he's got it now. I don't know how he played with it so far down it really isn't comfy to play at all.
The loaded diaper technique lol
He’s also way more stationary on stage than he used to be, but the (finally audible) bass lines are as heavy as ever
And James used keep his guitar super low too
I love the crowd participation! Audience singing the riff. And the volume 🎉
Everyone near me was Singing there lungs out for the whole song (ALL of the night tbh, they played banger after banger!). Kinda made it the most magic moment i have ever been a part of.
@@chapperssmashes4120 We were all singing where I was too, on both nights. It was fantastic to be part of it.
I was there at the front and it was my first concert ever! Great experience, everyone had fun
Should hear it when they play Ireland.
That is the beauty of it. The best was I think My Friend of Misery. How he splits the crowd in two. Hair raising. Oh and LIVE IN SEATTLE durin AJFA, that crowd was bananas.
6:07 "That was for my hero, Mr. Phil Lynott. We miss you". Metallica is always great at paying respect to their influences. Superb performance.
Lots of Thin Lizzy love in that crowd!🤘🏻
Sucks man, paying for their version of Whiskey in the jarrow.... dull and daft bunch! BE a normal man, and surprise the crowd with another one like "emerald song". Better yet: put Orion or Phantom Lord in the place of a suckup song. Aint paying to see em play covers...asif they cant find any other own material to have on setlist. Dweepy moments fine, not during my time as paying visitor.
@@SB-jc7wz grow up lol
Love this song, a lovely tribute to Phil Lynotte and Thin Lizzy 🤘and one of my favorite covers they do. ❤
Wow….I missed that…thanks for pointing it out….nice of him to acknowledge Phil L.
The crowd singing with james is gives me the chills
We were singing a lot, it was awesome!
Metallica: the greatest band to EVER exist 🤘🎸🔥
pretty sure you meant Iron Maiden. Metllica is soooo overrated
@@lantarsroar87 Nope, I meant Metallica
For me it would be Metallica, Beatles and Sabbath
Agree
I do agree
I wish they played Turn the Page, the Mercyful Fate Medley and above all, the Astromy song for legendary Blue Oyster Cult during this tour either.
Anyway, Hail to Thin Lizzy, and RIP Phil Lynnott and Gary Moore!
The little tease of Outlaw Torn at the beginning was great ...just enough to intro the outlaw in Whiskey 😁😁🔥💜🤘
Honestly this whole 72 seasons has been beautiful ❤
it is a very good album indeed, i am having a hard time removing Room of mirrors and Inamorata from my head.
Became one of my favorites! Very solid album!
Been such a GREAT start to a new Era of Metallica!! 🙂🤘🏻 much love from Canada!!! ❤🇨🇦
What a great frontman James is, gets better year after year!
best cover ever 🤘
James is one of the Best frontman rythm/solo singer perfect rock machine …
I wish I was there for this!
James Het voice always will hits me one of my favorite singers
LISTENING SINCE 1984, AND ARE THE GREATEST BAND OF ALL TIME!
They are so good
Rob‘s backing vocals sound fantastic
Fucking awesome harmony they've never had on this song! Beautiful!
I noticed it too!
Love it when Jaymz takes a solo
Was there! Had seen youns at slaine castle back in 2019 and the crowd was far better during this song then. Still a lovely performance, me and my da loved it. Already made a pledge that we'll always go see metallica together every chance we get
Slane Castle 2019 had the best intro to whiskey, I was there too
I mean, it's an Irish song and that was a Metallica specific show. So makes sense 😅 I saw them in Marlay park in 08 and pretty sure they were only playing that song when they visited Ireland at the time, seems to be a regular now.
Crowd was pretty dull if you watch videos at the back here, shame.
I was at the front singing my heart out though with everyone around me, had a blast both nights.
@rampager1990 I was far back for both nights unfortunately, but still had a blast headbanging and singing along while the boring farts around me just watched
@@WinnieOfTheNorth sounds like me at slipknot 😂 mate fucked his foot up in this show so couldn't go to the front.
Got looked at like I was talking in a library when I screamed "Jump the fuck up!" 😂
I remember starting to record this on my phone as I thought Rob was doing a bass solo. Then I had to stop because I started jumping around like a madman 😁😁😁😁😁
Great weekend
Maybe it’s just me but I MUCH prefer seeing them on a stage like this than the big area setup that they’ve been using for years. It just feels more “natural” and real to me.
Agreed. The 360 stage setup is a little weird and all over the place. But then I've never experienced it in person, couldn't tell you if that makes a difference.
Absolutely! All of them, close to each other, looking like an actual band, facing crowd feels so much better than all those wacky concepts when they are like miles apart, no backline and often turned back to the audience. This latest "doughnut" stage thing is just plain stupid.
I couldn't bring myself to travel for this tour because of the stage design (and a few other issues with the current album cycle)
No man I think a lot of people agree with u. It feels more like a band that way
@@AlexH8280 done both recently ( was at these shows and London in 2017 )
I felt closer to the band in 360 stage even though I was further back, was literally at the front at download but there's a big gap between the stage and then there's the snake pit so unless they're on the walkway, they aren't close at all. Obviously they were on it a lot.
All were great shows, not complaining. I guess if you're further back the stage show is better, you've got all the screens and the view of the pyrotechnics and stuff.
Metallica still rocking🔥🔥🔥🤘🤘🤘
James is just on fire this tour.
This song, these guys, both setlists were absolutely fucking amazing.. you listen and watch them playing live..you forget all your troubles and stresses..they take you to a happy place.. I'm glad they're apart of my life
I'm glad they're part of our lives too.
Amen!
Hell yeah 👏👍
There is just something about this main riff
It never cease to groove me
Yes indeed. It is like a muddled sorta riff. Especially the intro. it is just that they found their sound and tuning. Aesome
I'm obsessed with Metallica
it's been over a week and I still got a massive sunburn after that day 😅
Amazing show!
“This one’s for my hero Mr Phil Lynott.. we miss you man” 😭♥️💔
Lizzy and Metallica are two of my favourite bands, and for James to acknowledge one of the greatest songwriters of all time - Phil Lynott, that was great!!!
The mixing is the best of Metallica since ever
I want the new songs like "Room of mirrors" or "Innamorata" please? 🤘🏻🤘🏻
When James solo... \m/ so good!
I've been saying it for the past 25 years; Metallica did the BEST cover version of any song EVER, when they covered this!
Classic!
🤘🏻
I’m with you man. Does not get better than this, and especially this live rendition.
This is stellar. I also think their cover of Turn the Page surpasses the original.
@darklordlc The live version from Rio in 2015, we're James creates the feedback when he sings "The Echoes Of The Amplifiers Ringing In Your Head" is my favourite version!
🤘🏻
They played this in Paris last month, amazing gig and great cover version.
No one does it like Metallica!
Whiskey in the jar is top 3 best covers by Metallica
Out of almost all the old school bands still performing - Metallica look and sound as great as ever!
They do 🤘🤘🤘🤘
Robs harmonies are great here
you can tell thats one of james hetfields favourate songs both to sing and play guitar live..love his little solos
Rob's harmonies on point.
Never stop never quit cause we’re Metallica 🤘😆🤘
WE LOVE YOU METALLICA!!
Great lead break by James.
These guys are like a wine, how old it gets its getting better and heavier.
I'm so so glad i was there to see this, everything was perfect, the crowd, the atmosphere, it'll be something I never forget. Thankyou Metallica, i didn't expect to see this live but I'm so so so so glad you did! Metallica forever!
Me too. Memories made these days
James' vocal tone is very very good
Hard to believe that band we saw in Some Kind of Monster would be this fuc*ing tight 20 years later!
Hugs from Portugal. 🇵🇹🤟🏻
No mention of the outlaw torn being played before this then starting whiskey in the jar. If I can see that and whiskey in the jar in Detroit I would be so happy😊. Being that I am not in the Uk I don't think I will get the full whiskey in the jar like you guys did but maybe a medley with the 2 like they have done at other shows but I'm crossing my fingers for both in full.
Fucking legends! Listen to that crowd. The Metallica family is one of a kind!
Oh, summer nights by the pond with a whiskey on the rocks.❤❤❤❤❤🔥❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
That extra bit of solo 🤤
I'm 38, I grew up with Metallica, my little boy is 3.5yrs old. We both love the music daddy grew up on ❤
Wow, music will never be this great again, what a song...
this song never gets old and so does the band
Funny cuz the Garage inc. album is super good. Merciful Fate still gets me going. It would be great to hear Atronomy, Die My Darling, So F-in what also live. Metallica for everrr
@@BENNYB-ze4dw Astronomy is legit a top 10 Metallica song (cover). It's so damn good
@@sirzechsazazel1150 thanks for the response. I just like how it picked up the pace and kirk kicks in. The singing was great. Very melodic.
It’s really amazing how James vocals sound so DAMN good at this age. Incredible
I was there!!!
I like this song.
Seeing metallica live was the one thing in my life I wanted to do the most and watching them at download I'm so glad I've finally ticked that box
They love what they do🤟🏻🤟🏻🤟🏻🤟🏻
METALLICA FUCKIN RULES🤘🤘🤘
Cheers! Metallica is the BEST!
Can't wait to see you next year in Mexico!
This tour has been so impressive to me, the band is tighter than ever in my opinion
Being a Aussie Kelly (Great Red Ned Kelly), we from Cork have a great connection to our Convict heritage. Bless Ireland and Metallica 🙏✌️🤘🏴☠️🇦🇺
Wow the Bass 🔥
this might be their best live version yet! Rob's harmonies are great.
James said "Sing it" so we did, 100,000 of us. Our singing and, as one guy put it, our "mouth guitars" were great fun. Love these guys ❤ 🤘🤘🤘🤘
I’m a simple man , I see Metallica I like.
I started listening to Metallica in 2006. It's funny because back then I only knew of the first 4 albums.
I wouldn't have a Thin Lizzy album if it wasn't for these guys
Hands up whose here to remind themselves of the great days (& nights) at Download festival... Love this performance by a great band I've followed for over 30yrs & it was wonderful to finally see them live 🤘🏻(& yes i was part of the 100k+ singing along to every song)
🤚🏼 I was there too, it was an incredible weekend, and to see Metallica twice was awesome. And yes, our singing was amazing, we were all in fine form. 🤘🤘🤘🤘
Lol this is my friends favorite Metallica song. I bet they're super excited rn lmao.
I'll take a shot of whiskey right bout now
Congratulations Kirk, James, Robert and Lars you are the bosses🎉
My favorite band ever!!!
The vocal is awesome, papa_het you are great, thank you Papa❤❤❤
Fantastic !
These guys sound even better then when the song was recorded!
❤🎉😊A. True. Classic
I was there, they were brilliant
hell, how I love that 'Metallica Charter Wales' flag in 1:04
I'm sayin this as a native and still resident German 🙂 with a welsh neighbor
guys, I'm with you since 9-14-85 when Cliff (as the only musician ever) signed my ticket.
To Lars: ich hoffe, Ihr seid in 100 Jahren noch dabei !
Gary and Phil would have been proud of you doin their song in GB

I was stood right at the front for this... What an amazing night i will never forget... Thank you Metallica.
Ano que vem aqui 👉🇧🇷🤟
Hope they release both nights in full on dvd
I think we're all hoping they do 🤘
Mit Stolz gealtert und ja noch besser als in den jüngeren Jahren. Respekt für James und die ganze Familie Band"Metallica❤
The best Band of the Life.
Seen a few videos of these Donington shows and it does not matter what the year is, that crowd loves this song.
We love all the songs .
Listen to that crowd, so beautiful 😭❤
Mid song pulls heavy on my soul, when James goes “to hear Metallica family roaring”. What a beautiful powerful rendition. These guys are magic.
What a Procession 🎸🥁🎤‼️‼️‼️
Greetings from Germany 🇩🇪
BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!
SOOO BEAUTIFUL!
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!!!
Как говорится, metal up your ass!
This song is still one of the best crowd pleasing songs
YEAH YEAHHH❤❤❤❤
Wow!! Just keeps gettin' better!!❤
Out of all the Load Era songs James just doesnt not nail this, so fkn cool how wicked he still performs it has to be a record for someone his age!
James is in his prime. Come back and say that when he's 80 and still belting this out.🤘
@@yourmetalsister2958 James, as all men are, was in his prime in his early to mid-30's. When you're 60, you have many more years behind you than in front of you, and that's just the truth.
Also, I think you misunderstood jyejye's comment. 🤷
