3 Feb 2023. This album is still in my top ten best hip hop albums ever. End to end it is a spiritual experience. Salute from Zimbabwe Africa. Bought my CD copy back in 96 after saving my school lunch money. Never regretted it. I still have the CD now sealed away far from my kids who would think it a frisbee LOL!!!
Lol nice one
Word!🎉
Hell yeah 🤙
With you on that
lol right kids are like “what’s a CD” lol
Khujo Goodie snapped on this song 🔥🔥🔥
Perfect.
"I let you stay in my crib
Now you know where I live
When you was hungry, fed you a hot meal
Look at the hand you deal" - Khujo
This part hit my heart hard!!! It’s my favorite part of the song!! Classic!!
The betrayal, Man
I'm 45 now and I remember buying this album and putting it in my Kenwood 5 Disc CD Changer in my new car. And my favorite verse was by Khujo " I let you stay in my crib
Now you know where I live
When you was hungry, fed you a hot meal
Look at the hand you deal" It stuck to me because I could picture it so clearly since I used to let some of my homeboys sleep on my couch and turn around and not be grateful for me helping them out. His voice and Ceelo stood out to me so much when I ever heard them rap. My cousin Duke was the first one to put me on " The dungeon Family- Outkast, Goodie Mob" and South Music altogether. I'm glad I lived through this era. I wanted to goto Atlanta so bad after seeing the "Soul Food Video" I wanted to see if it was really like that lol!!! From Cali by the way.
I'm 44 ... Georgia, and lived in ATL (College Park) for about a year during this era. ATL was definitely like that video. But EVERYTHING has changed everywhere. God bless your endeavors! You have GREAT taste in music 🎵🎶
Littt I feel this
Cassatte tape.
Dude its so wierd i came to listen to this track and was specifically thinking of the same lines you posted. Its 1 Nov 2022 and Takeoff (Migos) just got killed today. Was on insta watching T Mo Goodie speaking about how heartbroken he is with the state of the black man being killed in America and this song came to my mind. One love from Zimbabwe Africa.
I'm from East Point I was born in grady.
It warms my soul to hear people from Cali was not only listening to this but also feeling it. Thank you.
Top 5 albums ALL TIME! PERIOD!
yes. Maybe top 3
the collaboration of Outkast and goodie mob perfectly encapsulated a time period in history in a certain place in the most poetically beautiful manner possible.
Definitely one of best outkast beats.
Might be controversial but I geninuely think this beat is the best one in the album.
The beat gives me the feeling that something sinister is about to take place, absolutely spine chilling.
Facts man
This and Elevators💯
This instrumental gives me chills. Its beautifully haunting..👑💎The verses are pieced like an orchestra.. Super dope
AWESOME
Agreed! OutKast is one of the few hip hop artists that used live instrumentation on their lps. Tribe Called Quest was another. Brings a lot more warmth to the sound!
I got goose bumps within 4 seconds when the beat played.
That part 💯💯🤘🏾🙏🏾
Yall know its hard to narrow down but i am positive this is my favorite song of all time
Me too
"it ain't just the po-lice, we kill each other just cause anotha brotha fast livin'll get you took"
Kings of the South.....💯💯💯
UGK
@@janojanuary Outkast has multiple Grammy Awards and a diamond certification album bro....
No one is the king of the south, you got many kings in the south, but no one does it like outkast.
Grew up in east point in the 90s I was maybe 11 when this came out. I wish everyone could experience that time and place.
Harrison Rd Virginia Ave East Point College Park Forrest park Riverdale Hampton Lovejoy Union City
I left out Jonesboro
Camp Creek, Washington Road
IMO,the best Outkast album...one of the best albums ever.
Yep
Me too this album is perfection
Agreed
Yall need to put me on with outkast cause I obviously know hey ya and ms jackson, rose, and some more but I really want to get into outkast more, any suggestions.
@@impacc4182 start here or listen to Southernplayalistic which is their first album
I wished they made a video for this song. Have everybody floating down the river on their backs rapping.
Floating in the mainstream like some motherfucking swordfish 😂
That's a pretty dope concept for this song.
You make it.
Deadass lol
Dats hard but what would be harder is them floating face down in the mainstream rapping, with under water cameras!🫡✊🏾
They way big boi started his verse 🔥🔥🔥🔥💯
Jid the only rapper who can kick that flow
Andrè 3000 verse 🔥🔥🔥
This has, is, and forever will be my shit!
My favorite song by Outkast. The beat is bonkers and the rhymes....✨😲👌👑
I moved to Atl
One of my favourites by OutKast for sure. Love Big Boi's final verse.
there first 3 albums and goodie soul food are some of the best albums of all time you can play them front to back and they sure dont make them like that no more , brings me back some of my best times
Yall know what it is
Mannnnnn this song ALWAYS hits my Soul! 😁
It's Their best album & correction it's in the Top 5
Albums of all time 🙌's down
2024🤯😁🫡
Outkast 1st 2 Albums is definitely Top knotch "Classics'' And a Reprensentation of the oldschool era ''Atlanta'' what it was back in the early mid 90s way before the days of the ''Trap''😎😎😎
Wasn’t way before the trap at all, just before the trap was put on blast! 🤨🤷🏽♂️
Hands down the best album of 96
FACTS!!!!!!!
that's for sure, best album of the 90's
Khujo snapped on this bih! Everybody did their thing! Real life shyt!
I tear up everytime...........................
me too......
@@buffalosouldier2007 its sentimental for me. And it is actually sad because this cautionary tale plays out day in and day out
@@buffalosouldier2007 lmao never felt better
Might be the greatest hip hop album ever, it speaks to us.....face down face down
thinking its all about your clothes, its all about yourself, the way you feel about your life, the times you share with friends and family
Golden era Southern Hip-hop! #NevaDoneWitThe90s 😂
Floating face down. What a powerful song that still has power. Peach’s
Think it is but it ain't all peaches and cream. Kujo chorus and lyrical delivery always amazed me.. On Soul Food and ATLiens, especially this track he spits like there's 1 million n'gaz inside of him. Salute this talent mayn. DF fo life!
This song is more relevant than ever now 😔
The beat always sounded like an alien was in the back just screaming over the instrumental. Album is so perfect
Making it free from my community that’s what I live for. We living in the mainstream now lol
The coolest thing about this track is that 3-bar loop, which is extremely rare in hip hop. You can tell most of the Goodie Mob struggle with their cadences. But Big Boi and Dre ride it sooo well on here!
Bro Goodie Mob killed listen again.LISTEN tho
@@kenwwyanes6307 nah I hear u. Lyrically on point. I’m just speakin on how Dre and Big finesse their flow so tastefully with it.
No1 can flow with outkast but maybe raekwon and GFK can thou🤏🏿
@@kenwwyanes6307 read to comprehend he didn't say they didn't eat their verses up
Their flow is secondary compared to outkast
Here we go y'all, another musical expert in the comments. Just enjoy and shut up.
It was banging back then all thé way from Paris, France. Big respect to Dungeon crew, Organized noise.
This album was mind blowing and I was smoking weed then which made the whole album even better which it took me to another world rt it was a different feeling in music
@@c33j4y6 it won’t be the same for them you had to be in that era
@@c33j4y6 ok y’all need to listen to the witch doctor as well y’all will love him his rhymes and goodie mob
No weed (mamma wouldn't let that) but still one of the best album ever!
@@bluubird7077 oh my mom didn’t play that neither but when your a teen u sneak and do stuff
Same for me, i was 20 years, it was mind blowing.
Smelling like ATL..🔥 Anointed! 🔥 Album...🔥
[Intro]
(Water splash)
Uh, y'all know what it is
Uh, y'all know what it is
Uh, y'all know what it is
[Verse 1: T-Mo Goodie]
Revolutionary, scary
Thought provoking, spoken
Words of a change I don't feel but I see
Visions from me at 23
Making it free in my community
One day is what I live for
Ain't thinking about no hope no more
I got my boots I kick it 'til I get with
Adapt and overcome, oh hum hum
Go get my gun, load up for fun, and put down with the frown
What goes round comes round from M.L.K. to Cascade
I know it's through them plenty figures
Cocaine dealers walk the wrong side
Up in they rides
Looking cleaner then I seen them the last time
Then selling dimes, now its quarter ki's, stacking G's
In the South Indies
My nigga them folks riding bicycles among vehicles
Off in the hood
Knowing each and every nigga selling, but can you blame
The fact the only way a brother can survive the game
The block hard to get by the dope dealing
Fatal killings, and fed time, to writing rhymes
It ain't just the police
We kill each other just lost another brother
Fast living will get you took
Thinking it can't happen to you and then it do
Off crooked schemes it's just a dream
Floating face down in the mainstream
[Hook: Khujo Goodie]
Think it is when it ain't all peaches and cream
That's why some are found floating face down in the mainstream
[Verse 2: André 3000]
They swan diving
As if they name be Gretchen von Ivan
Volkoff rushin' to finish their album then you find them
Lost dog paddling, backstroking, what done happened?
Be rhyming "catch of the day" when the recipe calls for "blackened"
Wrong ingredients
Maybe too much herbs and spices
Maybe you got hungry for the wrong dish
Of them greens and it's enticing how them Jones's sing
So I'm gonna sing just like them to get where they at
I'll even break my by back to touch their rim, if I gotta
My alta mater be that I follow
I bite whatever that's looking tasty, water it down and then swallow
I hope you vomit, won't call no names cause that's not my job
It just applies to whom it may concern, you know who you are
But if you don't you never will, you just receive the steel
But then it might get ugly 'cause trust me niggas do feel
The way that I felt when I wrote this, but we must stay in focus
We kings and queens up in this thing, get rid of all them jokers
Face down, face down, face down
[Hook: Khujo Goodie]
Think it is when it ain't all peaches and cream
That's why some are found floating face down in the mainstream
[Verse 3: Khujo Goodie]
I let you stay in my crib
Now you know where I live
When you was hungry, fed you a hot meal
Look at the hand you deal
Me crudball business, niggas giving inches, so here, take a foot
Luck only counts in rabbit's feet and horseshoes
Experience is sometimes the best teacher until we get our own plate
I hope you don't mind me eating off of yours
Process sm-m-moking like Jerry
Meanwhile, fairies up the street sprinkling pixie dust over greenery
Never to attain another level of conscience
Only to test, the potency
Why laying here, they scheme over one another mouth to feed
Deceased with a decision to make, now words shake your destiny
But one miss will take it all the way, just as quick as you can say
"I wish I never did what I did," now face this bid
It was the company you kept, the many places you slept
When you shouldn't have, geeking like a rat, jumping like a trap
Contributing to sin and your nigga bitch in the club showing pink for 10
They got you niggas where they want you again
Floating face down in the mainstream
That's why, that's why, that's why
[Hook: Khujo Goodie]
Think it is when it ain't all peaches and cream
That's why some are found floating face down in the mainstream
[Verse 4: Big Boi]
Everybody's a player, wearing them Kangols on their head
Thinking it's all about your clothes, nigga, it's all about your self
The way you feel about your life, the times that you done shared with
Your friends and family, up and down like hoes give head
To dicks, oh, six, serving them in the mix, but ain't no mystery
You know the history about this clique, bitch
Oh, what, you want me to call you slut?
Then why you fucking all them niggas letting them all up in your guts
But see that AIDS I'm afraid that's why I play the quiet role
I lay in the cut, every month thinking I'll let that fire roll
Like chimneys, and smoke signals, maybe peace pipes even
My partners call me Big Boi and my first name is not Steven
In the mainstream, home team banging them with these hits
In the mix, flowing like some motherfucking swordfish
[Hook: Khujo Goodie]
Think it is when it ain't all peaches and cream
That's why some are found floating face down in the mainstream
Think it is when it ain't all peaches and cream
That's why some are found floating face down in the mainstream
Think it is when it ain't all peaches and cream
That's why some are found floating face down in the mainstream

OG OUTKAST#1 LEGENDARY LEGENDS!
Song is in 3/4 but the lyrics are in 4/4. Great use of meter
Big boi verse is one of my favorites
This song is so relevant to today's music industry yo! All these artist floating face down in the mainstream. Selling they souls and putting out this wack a** music. Grew up this and its still banging harder than this trash out here nowadays man.
We good.
I bought a 2006 dodge charger recently from this lady. And she had this entire albumn on a CD. That girl dont even know but she done put me on outkast
Back when people bought albums! Instead of just songs, virtually ruining the music business as we know it
Very talented Outkast
This group...whew!!!!
"This is the only song that I was like WHY DIDN'T I THINK OF THIS!!??" - Questlove
Love you boys!!! Ty for this blessing!

Finally outkast put they own music on yt.. will happily listen to yall versions and with ads if it helps yall. Bought this album a few times so not trying to run out and buy it again. Had the tape when it came out and then cd in 2000's
These kids complain about wearing masks and when yall dropped this we was worried about getting our kicks took or jumped for the wrong color. Yall helped me escape and dream big. It aint all peaches and cream. My kids take more than a foot.
