I am so excited for this. The original was my first Harvest Moon, and it had such a big impact on my life.

I have never playedthe original and im just so excited for the fact, how this game feels so much diffrent from the other games of the series. Specially with that chapter thing^^
I will miss my round cows, but cuddling with them will be great for sure!

This game was my childhood, really excited to see how new players react/enjoy AWL. Its definitely a different play style, hope you enjoy it!

Say, one of the things that annoyed me quite a bit with the original was how the player character aged and became all gray and wrinkly, and yet your wife mostly stayed the same. Has this been addressed at all?
You still age, but all of the spouses outside of Lumina age at about a similar rate to you. I will say the character no longer looks as exaggeratedly old like in the original towards the end and ages on par with the rest of the valley.

I watched and read quite a few reviews about this game and you are the first that truly understood the ins and outs that made this game so incredible on the GameCube! This was exactly the review I was looking for!
NGL I miss the more drab earth tones of the original. The more vibrant colors they used for everything in this one make it feel much less grounded and more samey with the rest of the franchise, taking away some of what made it unique. Definitely going to get anyway but still disappoiinted by that

agreed. The overly-bright colors make everything look super cartoony. It reminds me of a mobile app.
i'm holding out hope that someone speedruns a visual mod to give us our old color pallet back. It shouldn't be too difficult I would assume.
I agree, this one looks too different and I feel like they could’ve done A LOT more to make the game more fun.

I wish they kept the animals getting sick mechanic. And that the graphics were more realistic texture wise like the original. But I am so hype for this 🩵
I do wish that they had added more characters and more dialog. Especially as the chapters go by things seem a little redundant and repetitive but other than that I don't really have any complaints. It looks amazing and can't wait to play it
Yeah extra dialog would be nice, or more frequency of certain ones, I just spam talked to someone once and got 2 pieces of dialogue I never saw before or seen sense before the chapter ended.
Agreed.. having new characters would also give room to characters older than you actually passing before you do which made sense. A scene of takakura passing would have been heartbreaking but welcomed. They could just have ur child narrate after

I don’t agree that this is the best game in the series. It lacks a lot of depth in the mechanics, the world is small, the characters don’t have much to say, the mine is small and I feel that it’s too restrictive. They could’ve definitely made the world bigger and added more features. Also, the aging as your progress is not for everybody. It’s not a bad game but I still prefer games like Friends or Mineral town and even Trio of Towns.
I wish they make SoS game with FoMT farming and mining, WL relationship system.

my first and all time favorite game that will always stays in my heart. i cant believe IGN game it a 6, but i hope the developers know that they did a wonderful job.
Every review I've seen aside from this one has been from the perspective of "how does this compare to Stardew". Hearing it from a fan of the original and seeing all the QoL updates(faster watering, easier tool upgrade, all chapters the same duration) tells me that I will once again enjoy what was already arguably the greatest HM game. I don't need it to be Stardew, I just need it to be a faithful/ improved edition.
Sadly my family grew up poor, so i never had a gamecube, nor this game, but my best friend did, i wasn't allowed to play it but i could watch her, and it made me so emotional to see how much people love this new remake, i can't wait to play myself ❤
Holy shit I'm so fucking hype. I've fallen off the series recently, but I'm so ready to get back into it.
My first game was the Nintendo 64 version and I still have it to this day and several versions of the game ❤ still love it !

I have a massive amount of nostalgia for the original game because it was my introduction to the series and i played it for hundreds of hours as a kid, and im super pumped to play this next week when it releases.
That being said, i disagree with your opinion of a wonderful life being the absolute best game in the series. In my opinion, the best game is hands down harvest moon: a new beginning on the 3ds. Its my absolute favorite game out of both harvest moon, and story of seasons, and ive been consistently playing it for years now, its actually the whole reason i still have my 3ds lol.
I'm hoping this one changes my mind, because I honestly couldn't ever get into the first game. I'm definitely giving this one a chance because I know so many people love it. I want to appreciate it like others do.
Am I the only one that didn't let my goat die in the original even after it stopped making milk?
Since you put all the platforms in the title i was expecting a comparison between the different systems, and how the performance is (switch always being scary for us nintendo boys).
I've heard a few negatives in other reviews, like the animal husbandry being dumbed down, and hybrid crops still being a pain to craft.
Did those points not affect you negativly while playing?
Regardless i'm still looking forward to the title, i just hope they have their switch performance in check.. i cannot live through another PoOT or RF5 experience.
As I mentioned in the review, I didnt mind the change to animal raising, since the game still encourages you to reproduce your animals in order to get more and higher quality products. And to keep them happy for the same reason.
The hybrid crop system was something I enjoyed the most, so it was a net positive for me since it gave me the biggest motivator to make extensive use out of the seed maker and all of the fields.

On PC I am running this at 1440p/60fps no issue, so I would say PC

Glad the PC version character walk animation are better, I was skeptical to buy it at first after looking how janky that animation was on Switch. There's something really wrong and way too fast about the walk cycle and it irritates my eyes. Definitely taking the PC version!
The grimm vibe and the design overall from the original still is the better choice for me, So I'm stuck playing the special edition version for ps 2 :')
I can play it on either Switch or PC. FPS is better on PC and I'm guessing visuals are all around better as well with less to no pop in plants/trees as you walk around.
Watering crops in the original was so annoying! My joystick was a little messed up 😅

I’m not starting to cry while watching this. Nope.
This is also the game that got me into this series! I rented it on a whim because dumb child me thought it was a unique JRPG where your weapons were farm equipment. Boy was I disappointed at first. But then I actually played it and it became one of my favorite games of all-time! Bought it eventually and then years later saw another copy at a thrift store and bought it anyways even without having a GC or Wii to play it on just because I love it. I disliked the PS2 version because the framerate and loading times and the port of that version onto PS3 did nothing to fix those issues. I'm very excited for this game.

i agreed this is the most good remake and im wishing them to remake the Hero of Leaf valley or Save the homeland as well.

Do you still have to fertilize the whole ranch pasture to get fodder?
You have to fertilize the pasture, but once you do a few areas the grass grows naturally, and fertilizer is easy to get
Are the goddess and the sprites still in the game?
The Harvest Goddess was never in the original A Wonderful Life, but the 3 Harvest Sprites are here.

No, they just produce less over time, like I said in the review, cows give more milk after giving birth which is your encouragement to do so

The original two games introduced me, my siblings, and my cousin to the franchise and we each have fond memories of them. We compare each new game to AWL and talk about all the ways features from those games could make other SoS games better. As much as I love decorating my farm, there's something freeing about seeing upgradable areas where I don't have to decide what should go there. I also like that I'm not forced to buy any of the upgrades if I don't want to.
We love the valley and actively played the gamecube versions up until a few years ago. I'll always be grateful to Blockbuster for having both versions, despite us being in a small town in the middle of nowhere. It kinda felt like fate back then because we were missing the place where we grew up and here was this game reminding us of everything we had left behind.
Needless to say both me and my brother pre-ordered the game and we can't wait to re-experience the valley.

Hahahah *no* . Friends of Mineral Town was a disaster of a remake that improved the gameplay sure but *butchered* all the artistic elements. Despite my quibbles with the art style in this one, it's clearly still the original just changed some. The FoMT remake is a disaster. Hate how everyone looks like mutant babies in game and then their portraits are massively more generic. I wouldnt even play that remake for *free* let alone buy it.

I love harvest moon but never played this one, my first one was the ds one, will this one be worth it?
The DS one is more or less a sequel to A Wonderful Life, so while you will see a lot of similarities, it is a very much more slower experience.
can you finally go up the hill to Mineral Town?!
You can but all it is is a way to skip time by 6 hours. You can also get all your stats restored on a visit too.

I really wanted to love this game but the fact that they didn't officially make Nami trans just killed it for me.
