  • In this video, I show you how to adjust and fix your door gaps. So there perfectly aligned and smooth. I weld the doors properly to get that perfect Gap. Adding metal to fill the space between the quarter panel, door and fender. I hope you enjoy the video. Please like, share and subscribe if you haven't. Thank you

    Thanks for sharing ! I learned something I wanted to know, I put new aftermarket fenders on the front of my 68 Camaro n the gap is terrible towards the middle but the ends top n bottom look good so this has helped a lot.

      @Classic Rewind That's very nice of you. I really appreciate that. You've got a new subscriber for life. I'm sure I'll have some questions for you. I'm struggling getting a quarter panel on at the moment.

    • @classicrewind2715
      @classicrewind2715  Год назад

      Hi Derek, make sure you install it with some zip screws. Therefore you have the ability to adjust and check everything before you start welding. My quarter panel on the passenger side is giving me a lot of difficulty, that's the video that I've been posting lately. The quarter panel dips in too much where it meets the door if I had saw that before I installed it I would have done more adjustment by pulling it out before welding it fast to the door Striker. I hope this helps. All the best

    • @derekmoore2553
      @derekmoore2553 Год назад

      @Classic Rewind Thank you. That is helpful. My trouble is at the rocker. I wish I could post a picture to show you. Basically I cannot get the quarter to sit down on the rocker like it's supposed to. It is about a ½ inch high. I've tried every which way I can think of short of doing a relief cut on the new quarter itself.

    • @classicrewind2715
      @classicrewind2715  Год назад

      How does it sit up on the roof line? Try lifting the quarter up from the back to get it to sit down on the rocker.. need to be careful because of your door alignment when you install your door.
      send me pictures.

    are you using 23 wire? I use coat hangers to fill that type gap, run the coat hanger in and weld to it also use compressed air to moderate the heat.

    • @classicrewind2715
      @classicrewind2715  10 месяцев назад

      It's a little thicker than a coat hanger. it's like a 3/16 wire. It holds its form very well when you're working it. I hope you enjoyed the video. All the best

    If the quarter panel didn’t need work would you have built up the door? I’m having the same issue but at the middle of the door/quarter panel. Thanks

    • @classicrewind2715
      @classicrewind2715  4 месяца назад +1

      No, I wouldn't have. When you open the door, you can see that it would have been worked on. You hide your work better on the jam of the quarter than the door. All the best

    Hey dude. I like the vid but you need to check the ground clamp for a loose connection. Mine was doing what yours is, and the bolt that held the cable to the clamp was corroded from use, take it apart and clean all the surfaces then you will find it works better.

      That's horrible. I had five pieces of metal in my eye over the years. Two metal splinters at one time from grinding. Snuck in under my safety glasses. Now I use the big ones with the side Shield. So far so good haven't had one in over a year. Very painful. I hope everything turned out okay with no damage. All the best

    • @classicrewind2715
      @classicrewind2715  Год назад

      If it is accessible I spray it with etching primer and then I coat it with a sealer. like a rust preventer. If it is an area where two pieces of metal come together like a door jamb I seal it with etching primer and then I put seam sealer on top and then I seal that with either a coat of POR-15 or paint. Hope this helps all the best

    Mr. Harry - what brand you use air compressor and size gallon ?

    • @classicrewind2715
      @classicrewind2715  Год назад +1

      I have a husky 90 gallon. I bought it because eventually I am going to start spraying car panels. Right now I have to put a condensation collector on it. I only have one by the shut-off valve. I have to put an inline collector so I don't get any moisture in the paint. I'm getting a lot of moisture out of the hose. All the best. I'm glad you're enjoying the videos.

    Harry. You talk about the reveal of the door not going to the edge of the rocker is that correct? So the lower front corner of the door is not flush with the rocker?

    • @classicrewind2715
      @classicrewind2715  Год назад

      That is correct, on the 68-69 GTOs The gap is on the door. The fender is flush with the rocker. Therfore the gap is on the door, 3/16 back from The Rocker. I hope this makes sense. It's kind of hard to explain without showing pictures. Go to the 4 minute mark of the video. There you can see what I'm talking about where the fender hits the rocker and the door is back 3/16 from the fender. I hope this helps, sorry for the late response.

  • @gbunton

    It's not a good idea to use the striker as it can miss align other parts, a trick I've used for years is cut your self some rubber gas line into 2 inch strips and position them around all your contact points, you know split the line slide it on the doors you'd be amazed at how it will help you align your stuff. Just a thought. nice welding job.

      I bought it in NJ. I was looking for a car that I could totally rebuild, it didn't matter the condition it was in as long as the frame was good.
