Hi motojitsu. I am picking up a 2022 tracer gt soon. It will be mostly used for weekend rides with the mrs as pillion. I have a few questions 1 - how is the tracer 9gt as a bike 2- do I have to always adjust the rear suspension when riding solo and 2 up 3- if it has a Manual pre load how to adjust it and what setting it should be at. How would I know that it's at the right setting for solo and 2 up Your help is much appreciated
What my father had me do as a passenger when I was younger than 12 years old now makes sense to me after watching this video. He always wanted me to hold onto him in a hug with full upper body contact. My head laid on the side, resting on his back. He always reminded me not to move at all when the motorcycle is moving.
I learned this lesson the hard way when I was a teenager with a Honda 50 Super Sport in the mid-60's. I became very proficient riding by myself and I wanted my mom to enjoy the ride around our tiny neighborhood. I asked her to hop on without remembering that she didn't even know how to ride a bicycle. When we came to the first turn - a T-intersection requiring a right or left turn - I leaned left but the little Honda went straight ahead no matter how hard I leaned. As I came to a stop in our neighbor's yard (thank God no car was coming), I asked Mom what she was doing back there. She said she was helping me by leaning in the opposite direction. In other words, from the rear we looked like the letter "V". Bottom line: Before getting on the motorcycle, find out what your prospective passenger knows or doesn't know. You are NOT in full control when you have a passenger.
That's why you don't take passengers who have no awareness of riding...I usually only take passengers who are riders themselves. Since there's always a chance of them doing something stupid, your skills better be able to handle it or it's your fault for taking the passenger. Lesson learned I'm sure!
Lols my friend can't relate he hated riding with another chick after telling her what she needs to know, and she still wants to ride with him. Meanwhile I join him on a couple of rides once in a while and he's like "why can't she be like you..." I laughed so loud and said bike life isn't for everyone nor anyone.
My wife told me see sometimes closes her eyes (as a passenger of course) when she gets a bit spooked when we need to make a u-turn. This way she won't counter lean she says. She is a perfect passenger btw :). Sometimes I have to poke her leg to see if see is still on the bike xD
Very nice video. A lot of very good points, and I hate riding with passenger because of them. The only passenger I ride with is my wife and that's because she's rider herself, so she has full gear and know exactly how to behave on motorcycle. Greetings from Poland :)
Same here! I ride and my partner rides. He has a Triumph Daytona, I have a Yahama R3 and a Triumph Street Triple as well. His Daytona is THE most uncomfortable bike to go pillion on! I'm tiny, less than 100lb and 5"2. Sometimes he has to pat my leg to make sure I'm still on!
evan marks mmmm so why does VR46 wear gear? Does he know how to ride? That’s just ignorance. You can be amazing, some car can still blow a stop sign and hit you.
Hey I just wanted to say thank you for putting this information out there! My friend asked if I could take her out for a ride and I told her that I'll take her to a parking lot for her first ride and or as many as it takes for her to feel comfortable. I guess she did some research, and came across your video. She surprised me how well she did especially since she's never been on a bike before, I told her she did awesome and she showed me this video later lol🤙🏽
I'd be careful about telling a pillion not to move on the bike, especially a first timer. Some take it literally and they get really stiff and end up not enjoying it because they think you're going to crash if they move. Tell them they can adjust their body as long as they warn you first. Also, for a first timer, teach them a signal to tell you if you're going too fast. Sometimes totally normal speeds seem fast for someone who's never been on a bike.
I do mean it literally...if they move, it will mess me up. If the passenger doesn't want to ride with me, they don't have to. It's my choice to take one and if they're not willing to adhere to my requests, they don't have to ride. Plus, I wouldn't take a first timer...I only take passengers who have been a passenger before or ride themselves. If you do other things for your passengers, then great. We all have our things we do and things that work for us. This video was my experience for riding passengers all around on the streets and I even take passengers on the track.
Fast Eddie’s Motorcycle Fun Yeah, I can see your point. But pillions do move, and It's mostly fine. A bit weird the first times, but you get used to it, like anything really. Also, most viewers watch this video because they're going to take a pillion for the first time, most likely their friend or wife, so It's a bit weird that you don't take new passengers. Everybody has to start somewhere. People make it up to be harder then it actually is. The first time I rode a bike I had a pillion on the back, my riding instructor. Might seem weird but It's a common thing over here.
Pedro Silva They do move a bit, but I encourage my passengers not to. If I ever do take one that’s brand new, it will be here in this parking lot. I can do everything with a passenger as I can without one...
I've seen advice elsewhere to tell the pillion to look over your shoulder into turns. So if you lean your body, they will follow. I guess it's a matter of preference, but I think it might actually be an important bit of advice if what they're holding onto is you.
Great tips! I always thought slightly adjusting your body as a passenger (if your butt is sore) is fine while going straight at speed, but it only makes sense not to move in corners, during slow speed maneuvering or when stopping. That's when balanced mass is most critical and any movement that would upset that balance is very likely to cause a tip over.
As a passenger I have had to adjust my butt but what I did was put full power into my legs. Stay straight backed. Push straight up on the foot pegs . Up and down quick, no shaking. Its fine. Driver doesn't notice.
Excellent Lesson! If you don't yet Teach MC Safety, please start to do so! I've been riding for more than half a century, and STILL I learned something new from your Instruction. Thanks so much for taking the time to make this video, and for posting it. You have saved lives with this information!
Hey Fast Eddie. Thanks for all your posts. Im really enjoying them and learning so much. I will be buying my first bike very soon and your vids are preparing me for what I will need to know/practice. You put the message over clearly and simply plus you have a really great way or getting things across. Keep them coming
Great advice.... But, I never put the bike in gear until the passenger is on, and I'm ready to move, IF you have the bike in gear before the passenger climbs on and you both lose your balance, you will let the clutch out and it will shoot forward.. that's not good.. take care and safe riding.. 6teve trekker
If that's the way you do it, great! I don't like to because then I have to take one foot off the ground to put it into gear, rather have both feet planted when I take off.
True, but I like Motojitsu's reasoning, and as stated above as well, you can have the bike turned off. I have my bike in gear, off, then let passenger get on. Then I'll start the bike.
Hello I live in England and am going to do my UK motorcycle full license. Your videos are amazing. Your explanations are clear and concise. Some instructors here have seen your slow speed videos. Very good indeed. Thanks for posting. John
I came across your channel a couple days ago, and I'll have to say you explain these tips very well - subscribed! I'm glad you included how the rider is not supposed to move / lean while on the back. Many videos say to have the passenger lean with you around corners, etc. Better to have them just stay upright. If you do your job with proper counter steering, they should not have to work and help with the turn (more likely, as you mentioned, would end up making it more difficult). Will keep following this channel, and catch up on the many I missed so far!
Sitting here thinking about how long it would take to binge watch every video you have on your channel... I'll check back in when im done. Your information is amazing!
Nicely done. I was chuckling at the end because your passenger was slowly increasing in weight as the video went on --- 100 lbs, 150 lbs, and then 200 lbs. Just curious what the camera woman thought of that because she is definitely well south of 200. 😉
Started with a 100 lb rock example, then it was 150, and then 200 pounds by the end. Just wondering what was going through your partner's head as she heard that. Obviously she didn't take any offense in thinking you were talking about her weight.Again, good video, I was just trying to be funny.
Even though this is two years old.....it is very relevant information. I've been a passenger on my boyfriend's bike for a while, although he says I'm a good passenger, I feel like I'm not totally knowledgeable and aware of all the key points you spoke about.....now I feel better about my passenger status. Thank you.
New rider here, and get asked this question a lot "when can i ride pillion on your bike". And my answer is the same ... not till i am ready. Guess there's more to this than just me being ready. I am still learning, still getting used to riding my bike and getting to be confident in it. My bike hasn't been on any major roads yet, it probably won't for some time. Looking at your videos makes me realise that there's a still lot more to learn (liked your positioning tip in the making a quick getaway video, something i need to put into practice the next time i am on public roads). Thanks for the videos, keep it up.
You're a smart man! It's not just you being ready, it's having the confidence through experience and practice you know you can handle yourself and the passenger in case something happens. You must know how to stop and swerve and corner and deal with traffic before ever taking another passenger....plus, like I said in the video, it's a big deal to have the suspension adjusted, not just for yourself, but for the passenger...minimum to your weight.
👍👍👍 I was hoping you had some vids on passengers, my wife is going to ride with me once I get my act together and she has her gear, we can sit down and watch this together👌
Ammm... I’m porcentually positive u r a good, unintentionally tactless utuber that don’t know where the balance of tone of voice and feeling a roockie biker is. More about being a biker is the absolute best means of transportation, and brace for the impact cause it does require preparation. Thanks for the video. Rock on!!!
Thanks Eddie, some really helpful info there. I ride a lot with my wife as passenger on my Tiger 800 and I always have the kickstand down when she is getting on an off...just an extra precaution, never fallen yet.
Barnacle William Sweet bike! That trick works for some people, I don’t because I don’t want to try and lift my bike plus the extra weight off the kickstand while balancing on one foot. 😁
I take your point Eddie, I don't lean the bike on the stand, I have both feet down, the stand is out just as a precaution in case we might go over for any reason, and with the extra weight my feet are well grounded. ps...love your GS..
Love you Moto. The whole thing with riding a bike is "IF". He states it perfectly at the beginning of the vid. If anything EVER happens you can likely walk away if you are wearing gear.
Second time watching. 1st time was to educate my wife and myself before our first trip. This time I’m having my daughter watch before our first trip. Thank you for all the great information you put out!
just seeing this video, today i had to make some exercise with passenger, some affraid guy and he messed me up with his jumpscares on every corner, could not understand, that he must stay still and leave it to me. Great video on this thematic, congratz!
@@MotoJitsu yup and different bike too i recently brought suziki gixxxer 150 sf and i am only travelling with 1 passenger at back i once did tribles because i have no choice but never doing it again in my bike. even though i am doing doubles regularly i have to admit ridding without passenger feels good
Man you advice the passenger not to move. However on Total Control Lee Parks mentions that the best passenger he had was a woman who fully trusted him meaning she was following his moves. I am confused.
I know this is a 3 year old video but the advice is so relevant even today. I work as a car/motorcycle instructor in sweden at a driving school and when it comes to new riders, we make them give us rides in low speeds (parking lots etc) until they are comfortable in doing so because i believe they themselves will be a better rider while going solo from it.
Thanks man, loved that slow speed tutorial. It's always been a weakness of mine. About pillions, I tell my passengers "hang on with your knees-real tight". This locks them to my body. They have to squeeze and keep squeezing your thighs.
So many thoughts in my head! Where was @Motojitsu back in the early 90s!?! I would not have walked away from riding for almost 20 years. Why didn't I think to search for a Motojitsu "passenger" video just a couple of weeks ago before I took my wife around the neighborhood!?!? Good thing about watching this is now there is more for her and I to Shut Up And Practice on. She will start driving over to the parking lot where myself and sons practice, fully gear up and practice being the passenger. My biggest takeaway is, "if you can't pass the MSF with a passenger, don't take them on the street." Great video!! Oh! Before the feminists jump all over me with the ... "Why don't you teach her?" "Let her ride it" Blah Blah Blah... she has started basic friction zone stuff on our son's R3 and is taking the MSF in April.
I don't have big bike lol but Yamaha Mio GT scooter and this is so true... I use it everyday I also let know my passenger if he/she is ready I have seen people falling because the rider think the passenger is ready. Also one day I almost fall when I didn't know my passenger was going to up.... This are really good tips.
that's find even if it is, I had a 2015 GSA and only took it off road twice.... I didn't have a problem with that either. I never know when I might go off road or ride up on some really bad roads. ADVENTURE is the best way to Roll, even if it is on the street..... Keep getting test•y and you might end up kissing the road with that mouth of yourz...... lol
Right..I do the same..And it turns out it works. I tell them to look few meters in front of my front wheel -inside the turn. Just head their turning without leaning moving around etc...naturally, it makes their body better following the deal and better cornering.. After a while if you have good pillion that listen or talented one, ...you become like one on the bike..
Great video. I agree with most of what your saying. My passenger is my wife. Thankfully nothing has happened to us while riding 2up. I enjoy riding solo, because I can do what a want. If I want to take a corner going 70+ then so be it lol. With a passenger it's different you have to take in consideration the life, experience, level of comfort, etc.
Thanks for these tips, really really good. It's a big problem for me especially when I pick up people who really don't have much experience as pillions...
Hi Moto...man you do awesome videos and a life saver at that...I've never ridden a motorcycle ( take that back I have ridden dirt bikes back in the day ..like 3 decades lol ) but I do want to start again and I watch your videos very through .Thanks so much and keep them coming ..Please :: you do everyone justice
Fast Eddie’s Motorcycle Fun think he means with a passenger. Love the video's by the way. Always great to see other peoples takes on even basic things(not that this is basic)
Thanks for your great content, have learnt so much. Got a bigger bike and girlfriend wanted to go for a ride, I was like, no. You don't have full gear and I'm not yet at level where I feel safe having you on extra. She did not understand till I sent her some of your videos... There's always another day to go for a ride.
I remember you told us your name in last video sadly I can't remember so sorry for calling you 'eddie'. Something I'd like to see would be a nice riding commentary on a nice twisty road and what you're thinking as and when you're round the bend, including entries, exits, throttle balancing mid corner, when to get on the power etc... I would like to see the difference if possible between a moderate and quicker but safe pace. Do you think this would be possible ?
StuOnTwo hahaha yes my actual name is Greg...I could probably arrange something like that...I have a GoPro I can attach to my helmet but I don’t have a microphone...
StuOnTwo a microphone? I’m sure I can figure out how to do that with a GoPro...yes. But if I’m riding around on a twisty public road, the speeds are slower so many of the things won’t be relevant. Vision, throttle, line selection will be but body position won’t.
G-day mate, Great first point you make about pillion wearing full gear, so many times I've seen fully geared riders and the pillion passenger will be wearing no gear other than a helmet. I am a motorcycle rider instructor myself and I make a heavy point of safety in my courses. fantastic video - great style of teaching - really enjoyed watching and I will recommend your channel to fellow riders.
From what I've seen so far they are all great, Ive watched this one and the 'performing a sharp turn from a stop', both fantastic videos and teachings (gave them both a thumbs up and I subscribed). Keep up the excellent work and I'm sure I will be watching many more of your videos, thank you for taking the time to make them. Nice bike also : ) one of my favorites. I own a BMW also.
All good advice and it's necessary to emphasise how important these things are. When my friends and i started riding in the 70s, we never gave a thought to things like preload and damping and in fact i am sure most of us didn't pay much attention to tyre pressures.... it's a wonder that any of us are still alive LOL, (we all are).
I thought that here in England, most people were pretty clued up about proper gear considering the climate here, but just last Sunday we were riding on the M25 motorway, and i saw a biker in the fast lane wearing a tee shirt...unbelievable!
Steven Hill It’s crazy here in San Diego...so many in red shirts, shorts, even sandals! I’m sure it’s the same all over the world but since San Diego is so nice all year round, 70 and sunny for the most part, people wearing gear isn’t too popular. Sadly.
Great advice. Many other vids recommending the passenger shift weight with the rider, which I disagree with as well regardless of passenger experience. A stationary or neutral passenger is much more predictable than assuming your lean angles will be synced.
Love it, thanks :) The only thing I do differently to what you said is that no one mounts or dismounts without my instruction, and all the instructions I give them for riding with me are given before they mount :)
You're welcome! The technique isn't too hard but the time it takes for it to become easy is tremendous. If you're willing to spend the time, then you'll be as good as you want to be my friend :)
Thanks for the video, you make a lot of good points. One thing that I would like to add, that I have had save me a tip over a number of times, is to drop the kick stand down while a passenger is loading and unloading. Of course the bike is upright, but the side stand will serve as a safety should you passenger board wildly unbalanced, or your left foot slips on any loose stuff. I have all of my passengers ask me "Clear?" and wait for me to respond "Clear" before they board.
Many thanks for this video. Especially the tip at the end about adjusting the shock absorber preload. Makes perfect sense but I never thought of it. And the dealer that I went to to install the passenger pegs never mentioned it. Turns out it's a simple diy adjustment on my bike. There's even a wrench for it under the seat.
I have never had passenger, but the theory test and also my instructor said that the advice to the passenger is "lean with me". (UK) Your advice makes more sense to me.
Problem with that is you're the rider...the passenger isn't controlling the bike..you are. So if they do something "wrong" then people blame the passenger...it's the rider's fault and no one else's.
I personally put the bike in neutral when a passenger is boarding. It makes me feel safer, plus one time I was in first gear when the passenger was boarding, and for some reason my bars twitched to the side, making me release the clutch. The bike didn't go far (weak-ass 125cc bitch) but it was enough to make my passenger fall in the middle of getting on, and as she fell, she took me and my bike with her. Plus, it's not that big of a deal to shift to 1st with a passenger. Just wait 'till they stop twitching as they find a comfortable spot and you're good to go.
I respond to everyone I get notified about...on here, IG, FB, emails, etc. 6-7 hours a day, nothing but responding to every one :) MotoJitsu.com for some cool stuff :)
I really like that load compensating suspension. Plus with todays helmet communications add ons, your passenger can be your spotter. Four eyes are better than two, even more important two brains are better than one! That is if your passenger even cares. I've had both kinds. Nice incites on the topic! Thank you for passing on your experience. Ultimately if I was involved with someone the goal would be for them to have a bike of their own. Imagine practicing all the drills either following closely or being followed. Would make for some very impressed folks at gatherings and rides.
Im a new rider , and so is my wife. I told her that I wouldn't take her as a passenger until she went through the course, and I got a lot of practice first. But my question is, should the passenger also lean with you in the direction your leaning (counter-leaning) or stay still and just turn their head. Ive heard both are safe to do.
@@MotoJitsu Thanks, I have your book, (you gave it to me at riding with the stars ) ill practice up to blue belt , and beyond and take her then. Thanks Again !!
Very informative, im just starting to drive motorcycles but i always take into account the pillions safety, no reckless driving to impress. We get in we get out
Thanks :) If you're already subscribed to my new RUclips channel, thank you!! If not, here it is!! :) Many more cool conversations to come! ruclips.net/channel/UCVJeRk29mNO-YRuvOJ73klQ
Hi! Good tips. Getting your suspension set up professionally for 2 up riding along with having fresh fork oil , rear shock serviced. By the tuner given info from you can set it up almost spot on. In my case I required a heavier spring on the rear shock. ( Kawasaki Concours 14 ). The ride after that was money well spent. I call my gf “ The corner queen “ cause she loves the lean angle, lol!
..still looking for the electronic suspension switch on my KLR 😅? My only pillions are occasional frogs and lizards stowed away. 👍awesome info as usual
lol! Most bikes don't have electronic suspension and unless you're taking passengers often, probably no need to mess with it and many don't know enough about suspension anyway to do anything.
I'll be upgrading soon from a Honda 750 to a harley. Been riding for several years, but never rode with a passenger I am a large dude and my wife ain't tiny. That 750 barely has enough power for my fat ass. Things change and this will be the first time I'll be able to ride with a passenger. Thank you for making these videos. I'll take them to heart and set up a practice area to ride around in for a few days to get used to the feeling.
Eddie, or whatever your real name is, Chris, Greig ? I dunno, but you are building a fantastic channel here Buddy, and I really hope it goes well. I've watched a lot of your vids and they all make sense. It's kinda like it's all about the content and not the creator, and on YT these days that's rare ! I'm in the UK, and we don't call them passengers, but pillion. Anyway, that's splitting hairs, the advice in this vid is very good, and I hadn't thought about it before, but you're right - if you don't' know how to adjust you're suspension, then don't carry a pillion. Good advice. Please keep them coming, and I promise to keep watching ! Ride safe.
Awesome!! Thank you so much for the support! Yes, I could care less about "me" but my goal is to inspire riders to wear full gear, take courses, and practice!! I love taking passengers, my GF rides with me all the time..but there's no way I would if I couldn't adjust the suspension first...it would jack up the bike completely.
I have searched high and low. There is no video on handling a bike with cargo box (cargo weight less than 50kg). Pls would you do a video on how to safely handle (eg. Mounting onto a bike with cargo, dismounting it, how to park the bike for loading the cargo box eg. Can side stand be used or must use main stand. cargo top box , effect of wind on a standard 100litre box or larger. Thanks!
Cosmo John I don’t think there needs to be...if you put a weight on the back of the bike and it’s strapped down right and not moving...nothing is really needed to do different. Just be aware it’s a bit heavier...may slightly effect how you corner a bit but it’s usually not an issue.
I wish it was that easy to preload my nomad! I just leave my shock settings at 2 up. The wife is with me 80% of time! I have taken other passengers for their first time on a bike, some ride fine, while others tense up! Great video and tips to tell any passenger!
Thanks for watching everyone. Check out MotoJitsu.com/shop for my books & new merch :)
Polish flag on a tail case 🧡
It’s cool and all that your bike has adjustable suspension but how would I do that on a cbr600?
I FOUND OUT SOMETHING TODAY!!!
If she grips my waist with her knees during cornering/tutning the same way I grip the tank it improves stability.
Hi motojitsu. I am picking up a 2022 tracer gt soon. It will be mostly used for weekend rides with the mrs as pillion. I have a few questions

Hahaha. But thank God nothing really bad happened.
:-) ha ha .. So true.
i've always found it much easier to have non riders as pillions because they just do as they're told and stay neutral on the bike.
Lol people have a hard time listening lol

But pillions do move, and It's mostly fine. A bit weird the first times, but you get used to it, like anything really.

I tell my passengers to look in the direction I'm going...but not move their body. She needs to be paying attention like I am and not daydreaming.
MackP Exactly right!
Thank you so much Capt. Daniel!
Hey Fast Eddie. Thanks for all your posts. Im really enjoying them and learning so much. I will be buying my first bike very soon and your vids are preparing me for what I will need to know/practice. You put the message over clearly and simply plus you have a really great way or getting things across. Keep them coming
Andrew Seager Awesome! Courses and gear!! Then practice!!
Dann, I love this video. Perfectly explained, even without cuts.
Rindy89 lol thanks! Yeah, all 4 of these videos I just recorded was with just one take! Lol
MotoJitsu.... Great videos, I've enjoyed watching all of them.. keep up the good work
Thanks! :) Much more to come
You could be in gear with the bike off
True, but I like Motojitsu's reasoning, and as stated above as well, you can have the bike turned off.
I have my bike in gear, off, then let passenger get on. Then I'll start the bike.
Thank you young man, not too often you find responsible people anymore....60yrs... 10 bikes.. 6 accidents.. still alive ...on new bikes...
Wow!! I bet you have some crazy stories!!
Hello
I live in England and am going to do my UK motorcycle full license. Your videos are amazing. Your explanations are clear and concise. Some instructors here have seen your slow speed videos. Very good indeed. Thanks for posting. John
John Derby wow awesome!!
Best bike tips in a whole RUclips.

B Schmidt Awesome! Thank you!! Yes, I ride with passengers A LOT! And if they move it throws me off completely!
First video I’ve seen that breaks down the aspects of riding with a pillion to this level. Very informative. Thanks for sharing.
You're very welcome! Share with others!!
The suspension advice was definitely needed! Great content 👍
❤️👍🏼
Sitting here thinking about how long it would take to binge watch every video you have on your channel... I'll check back in when im done. Your information is amazing!
Thanks Ervin! Share with others :)
Nicely done. I was chuckling at the end because your passenger was slowly increasing in weight as the video went on --- 100 lbs, 150 lbs, and then 200 lbs. Just curious what the camera woman thought of that because she is definitely well south of 200. 😉
AZ Geek Increasing the weight? What do you mean?
Started with a 100 lb rock example, then it was 150, and then 200 pounds by the end. Just wondering what was going through your partner's head as she heard that. Obviously she didn't take any offense in thinking you were talking about her weight.Again, good video, I was just trying to be funny.
OHHHHHH lol I gotcha...no she doesn't take offense to anything I say lol
@@AZGeek520 i was laughing at the same thing.
some women can be super sensitive about such things.
Even though this is two years old.....it is very relevant information. I've been a passenger on my boyfriend's bike for a while, although he says I'm a good passenger, I feel like I'm not totally knowledgeable and aware of all the key points you spoke about.....now I feel better about my passenger status. Thank you.
Truth doesn't fade with time. I have a newer video about passenger riding too if you wanna check it out.
Great safety video. "Gear up !"....words to live by.
Barry
Barry Kery Thanks!!
:I have another passenger video too
MotoJitsu.com for my new app, books, merch, etc.
I´ve watched a few videos for passenger riding techniques, and yours is the best-explained tutorial I saw, Congrats and thank you for this video.
Thank you!
I'm so happy for you, Eddie... You've been doing great with your content and consistency!!!
Kudos!!!
Thanks!!
Ammm... I’m porcentually positive u r a good, unintentionally tactless utuber that don’t know where the balance of tone of voice and feeling a roockie biker is. More about being a biker is the absolute best means of transportation, and brace for the impact cause it does require preparation. Thanks for the video. Rock on!!!
thanks!
Barnacle William Ahhh ok then...makes sense :)
I find it hard to get my little Triumph Street Triple off the kick stand with a pillion, so it comes up first.
Love you Moto. The whole thing with riding a bike is "IF". He states it perfectly at the beginning of the vid. If anything EVER happens you can likely walk away if you are wearing gear.
:)
I will remember that "be a sack of potatoes "🤣
hahahhahaha
Second time watching. 1st time was to educate my wife and myself before our first trip. This time I’m having my daughter watch before our first trip. Thank you for all the great information you put out!
You can take a passenger without adjusting the suspension...you can also go running without shoes on but it's not a good idea.
I was waiting for a knee down with passenger :D
@@tristanw9413 I have videos of that

just seeing this video, today i had to make some exercise with passenger, some affraid guy and he messed me up with his jumpscares on every corner, could not understand, that he must stay still and leave it to me.
Great video on this thematic, congratz!
Step 1: Don't

@@MotoJitsu thanks for the answer
Man you advice the passenger not to move. However on Total Control Lee Parks mentions that the best passenger he had was a woman who fully trusted him meaning she was following his moves. I am confused.
I know this is a 3 year old video but the advice is so relevant even today. I work as a car/motorcycle instructor in sweden at a driving school and when it comes to new riders, we make them give us rides in low speeds (parking lots etc) until they are comfortable in doing so because i believe they themselves will be a better rider while going solo from it.
advice doesn't go bad like bananas. :)
Thanks man, loved that slow speed tutorial. It's always been a weakness of mine.
About pillions, I tell my passengers "hang on with your knees-real tight". This locks them to my body. They have to squeeze and keep squeezing your thighs.
Thanks!
😊👍🏼
I don't have big bike lol but Yamaha Mio GT scooter and this is so true... I use it everyday I also let know my passenger if he/she is ready I have seen people falling because the rider think the passenger is ready. Also one day I almost fall when I didn't know my passenger was going to up.... This are really good tips.
Exactly!! Thank you!
Really good advice. Thanks. You could have saved me and my passenger's life.
this is the first time I've heard that the passenger doesn't lean with the rider and that does seem to simplify things considerably. Thanks
You're welcome! I tell riders "don't move" and if they stay still....I can do what I do...
globe IZ Truth well his "off-road" gs is a road kisser😂
that's find even if it is, I had a 2015 GSA and only took it off road twice.... I didn't have a problem with that either. I never know when I might go off road or ride up on some really bad roads. ADVENTURE is the best way to Roll, even if it is on the street..... Keep getting test•y and you might end up kissing the road with that mouth of yourz...... lol
I like to advise passengers to peak around my helmet on the inside of the turn.
Very thorough, thanks alot been looking for a good pillion passenger video
You're welcome!
Yup.
Thanks for these tips, really really good. It's a big problem for me especially when I pick up people who really don't have much experience as pillions...
Adam Samari Don’t take them! Lol
Shout out to Layla the awesome person behind the camera :)
yes!

I'm sure you could find one when you have a few spare bucks no ?
Awesome!! Thank you so much! I'd be interesting to hear what you think about my other videos!

Steven Hill Many, many people have no idea how important properly set up suspension is, not only for passengers but also just for yourself!
Sadly.
Gravel Rash is not funny...i learned the hard way!
Steven Hill Sometimes the best teacher!
Amen bro, great advise! Loving the videos, keep it up!
Isaiah B Yes Sir!
Well done, good video but, we get the point, we get the point... “fully geared up”, “fully geared up”.
Hope so! I'm not going to stop saying it!
:-)
Great advice. Many other vids recommending the passenger shift weight with the rider, which I disagree with as well regardless of passenger experience. A stationary or neutral passenger is much more predictable than assuming your lean angles will be synced.
If the passenger remains still....there’s no issue. I’ve taken hundreds before, even on the track :) never had any issue :)
Love it, thanks :) The only thing I do differently to what you said is that no one mounts or dismounts without my instruction, and all the instructions I give them for riding with me are given before they mount :)
You're welcome!
Thanks a lot for all this advice, it seems like a lot to take in but you keep it so simple and interesting as always.
Sure, if it works for you...but I rather have it up so I don't have to take one foot off the ground in order to take off.
Great Video, Thanks for sharing.Totally it makes sense, It helps me a lot, man! Greetings from Mexico City.
Awesome! You're welcome!
You’re welcome!
I have never had passenger, but the theory test and also my instructor said that the advice to the passenger is "lean with me". (UK)
Your advice makes more sense to me.
Problem with that is you're the rider...the passenger isn't controlling the bike..you are. So if they do something "wrong" then people blame the passenger...it's the rider's fault and no one else's.
wow great video and much needed info. I'm glad I watched, some things I did not think about considering. Thanks for the tips.
Thank you so much!! You're very welcome! Please share with others so hopefully others can share you experience!
Thanks for sharing. As a passenger I will take your advice.
Many ways to do 1 thing

I really like that load compensating suspension. Plus with todays helmet communications add ons, your passenger can be your spotter. Four eyes are better than two, even more important two brains are better than one! That is if your passenger even cares. I've had both kinds. Nice incites on the topic! Thank you for passing on your experience. Ultimately if I was involved with someone the goal would be for them to have a bike of their own. Imagine practicing all the drills either following closely or being followed. Would make for some very impressed folks at gatherings and rides.
Neat ideas!

I recommend the passenger to stay neutral on the bike and also not taking one until you’re really good and can do Blue Belt with a passenger

Hi!
👍🏼
..still looking for the electronic suspension switch on my KLR 😅? My only pillions are occasional frogs and lizards stowed away. 👍awesome info as usual
lol! Most bikes don't have electronic suspension and unless you're taking passengers often, probably no need to mess with it and many don't know enough about suspension anyway to do anything.
The suspension on your bike is so cool!
was pretty neat :)
You’re welcome
What about having passenger get on and off with kickstand down?
I don't do that because then I would have to take a leg off the ground in order to lift it up...this is what I do, not what you should do.
Have kickstand down and let passenger get on .
Excellent informational video!
