The only reason Air Force is considering the AAC is because of Army and Navy.
I know someone very high up in the Athletic Dept there, they want to go to the Pac-12 for many reasons, AAC is just a fall back if they cannot get in and the MWC falls apart.
Pac-12 is going to be pretty fun once all of this settles down.
Yep it is going to have a bunch of high potential up and coming type football programs, they will almost guaranteed have that automatic 5th playoff spot for the top five conferences if they also raid the AAC of 3-4 of its top teams and if they do add Gonzaga with Memphis and San Diego St that becomes a darn good hoops conference as well.
If AF goes to the AAC, where do they park their Olympic sports? Certainly not the Colonial like Army & Navy. IMO the service academies should all be independents. They are national brands and should play as many games as possible near military installations.
...in the AAC
They were independents at one point but time has changed
The big west is an extremely capable league in Olympic sports and welcomes non-football members. If AF wishes to stay local with its non revenue sports they will likely land in the Big West or the WAC.
As for independence it’s a nice thought but Army has tried to remain independent and it just hasn’t worked financially. AF is so isolated that I think it’d be even worse for them.
Patroit conference
Two options, AAC or WCC
I can see the Service Academies being brought into the same conference just for game scheduling and rivalries!
Big 12 without Utah is not a good conference. ACC without Florida State and Clemson isn't a good conference
Air force is going to AAC not ACC
SEC without Georgia, Alabama.. is just ok..., all conferences are top heavy.. every year it's a great team, really good team, 3 good teams and 7 average and 3 bad teams..
@@seanevans9329 I like the SEC, but I think with Texas and Oklahoma made it even much more interesting. Texas will be the SEC champion in its first year and Oklahoma will surprise alot of SEC teams!
It makes sense to me that the PAC 12 have a good idea what prospective teams the media partners want and how much they are willing to pay if the conference gets those teams.
Man….regions should mean something. I do not like all this Western schools in Eastern Conferences. Im a Texas guy, and I’m still not comfortable with being in the SEC….Just schedule BIG GAMES against BIG SCHOOLS. No more cream puffs! That would do the same thing! PAC 12 teams need to be in the WESTERN USA region.
It’d be nice if networks would pay for that. But that’s becoming less the case.
Mind you, I’m not completely convinced this pencils out for Memphis and Tulane. The Midwest and South are affordable for travel. The West… eh.
But just as problematic… you don’t want Texas playing cream puffs. The smaller schools are already getting squeezed and need help. This might be why regional football is fraying.
I think adding 6 eastern schools is a great way to keep regionality while gaining time zones. You have two 6 team divisions east and west. Limits travel, retains a strong dual regional culture, maximizes profitability, creates the far and away top G5 conference.
@@GabrielMillen It’s only good to add time zones if you get paid for it. The indication is the conference won’t be paid enough to accomplish that.
Its all about the money bro! There is no more affiliations
The CIC Trophy would remain a non conference 3 way series if Air Force joins the American
It was stupid of the Pac 2 to invite CSU over AF. AF is the best football in Colorado, a National brand, and in 40 years they have made a bowl over 35+ times, they have one of the most consistent programs in the country.
Yeah, Colorado State was the mystery pick of the 4. They haven't been good on the field. I guess the Denver TV market is the prize, and the Pac12 had been vetting Colorado State (along with San Diego State and SMU) as expansion targets before the break-up. UNLV would have been a more obvious pick, but I think they are somewhat stuck with Nevada (as Cal was with UCLA before cutting a deal.)
Iowa State a sleeper for the Big12 CCG. But honestly, the whole conference is a gigantic question mark now going into conference play.
One factor the Pac 12 will consider among many is how to hurt the AAC and MWC so they are not a threat to get that 5th playoff spot that automatically goes to the five top conferences. Tulane and Memphis is probably just a start, guaranteed they are grabbing at least one Texas team and they are in serious discussions with South Florida. They want UNLV paired with Air Force but the state of Nevada is trying to force them to also take U of Nevada which is a no go for the Pac 12. Crushing the AAC and MWC not only guarantees that 5th playoff spot but opens up more TV money to be available. The word is they already have a offer for twice what the MWC gets now (probably from CW) the more metro market or national appeal teams they can add the higher that figure will go. Some are saying they will stop at 8-9 teams but that would be stupid, it would just leave the AAC and/or the MWC as a legit threat for that playoff spot and TV money not to mention easier to victimize in the future by the Big 12 or ACC if it survives.
If PAC 12 gets Rice and Memphis it shows it’s not trying to stay regional.
That opens things up!
Because they were keeping it regional when they added Arizona and Arizona state whuch are landlocked to make the pacific 10 conference
Utah without Cam obviously shouldn’t be in the top 3 contenders for the Big12 but to say they’re outside of contention to at least make the game seems a little harsh considering Wilson is a better QB option than anyone last year when they went 8-5 with a much harder schedule
PAC needs to stays a western conference. Anything Rockies and west. That’s our home, where we have always been, where we should always be. Any of the remaining MWC conference schools are a fit. That should be the focus.
Amen!! Pacific means Pacific, not Continental. Travel costs for families and fans should count. Keep it local at all costs.
Agreed, but then that would force the PAC to pay a pretty hefty fine, and at that point this is the wrong approach and the PAC and MWC should have just done a reverse merger from the beginning.
Mississippi River is where the West begins. Memphis and Tulane are just on the Eastern bank, close enough. Especially if the Pac-X is eyeing some Texas teams (obvious for recruiting and media markets), such as UTSA, Rice, North Texas or Texas State. Louisiana has a good football brand too (Rajun Cajuns).
@@MattBuild4 The reverse merger was a non-starter. Even going independent would have been a better deal for OSU and WSU.
Thank you, TCU should of Run the Ball!!!
It's a competition between the pac12 , MWC, and AAC conference .they want to be a power 5 conferences which conference is better pac12 MWC and AAC
The MWC is toast.
@DocSkirv exactly 💯. But they can redeem themselves. I can see 10 fcs teams invited or from USA CONFERENCE
@@welcometomychannelswelcome7261 Sorta, losing Boise is a massive dagger for football. Other programs can grow, but historically Boise is such a rare anomaly that it would be bear impossible to replace the loss of a program like that. At best you can try to recreate it with trying to improve the overall competition of the conference, but on a team by team basis theres no replacement.
Just for context:
- BSU has a career win record that is 25% higher the next most winningest G5 program.
- BSU has 28 consecutive winning seasons (this is an NCAA All time record) - the next closest G5 program has 10.
- BSU has had just 5 losing seasons since the founding of the program (over 103 years) - the next closest G5 program has 38.
Everyone is forgetting TNT/TBS.. will have 5-7 billion dollars to throw at college football in 2026 when NBA contract is up.. even though everyone thinks PAC 12 leftover teams are lesser than sec, big 10.. TNT, TBS, CW can throw 40-50 million per team for new pac12 ... Just to have a larger footprint..on college ...regardless of how you feel about Boise St vs Colorado St.. or San Diego vs Washington St.. or future teams.. just saying
Agreed, I really hope this happens. Much prefer TNT/TBS/TRu/CW over Amazon streaming
Spencer as a SC fan what concerns me about the change in QB for Michigan is a mobile QB . As you know we SC fans have always witness Usc struggle on QB's that can run. Im also looking at it as well that were gonna play in the big house with a large crowd and hopefully it doesnt affect Miller too much and i know there will be false starts due to the noise but they gotta limit penalties. I for one hope SC doesnt overlook Michigan because of the first 3 games. At the end of the day In order for SC to win . We gotta make there QB beat us with his Arm and stop him from scrambling and stop Michigans Run game. On offense SC has to set the Tone with getting the offense run game going and having then miller moss get comfortable and take what Michigans defense give us until he gets more warmed up, then start to sling the ball but a balance attack.
Yeah. That could be a tough game.... I think Michigan is going to be a stronger team soon. And the big house is hostile. I'm also feeling like LSU was getting a little too much credit based on sec bias. They are a good team... I don't think they're a great team at this point at least.
Ouija board (Alex Orji) is not good. Period.
Should be fun but I feel great about USC
@@LockedOnCollegeFootball good to know Spencer maybe I'm just overthinking it. Fight On ✌️❤💛❤💛
@@LockedOnCollegeFootball Spencer I have a questions for you about media deal for PAC 12. For example should PAC 12 have a deal with the CW or other networks like CBS, Fox. Second question should the PAC 12 get a deal with FoxSports, ESPN, or one of the Turner Broadcasting channels. Third question should PAC 12 get a streaming deal with Amazon or Apple.
Doesn't UNLV/Nev go to the top of the list for the Pac two? Of course UNLV is the prize and it makes the
most sense. It's worth dragging Nev along for the ride hoping they can upgrade their programs.
Let's keep in mind CF is headed towards a P2 format so adding East coast schools will not help.
There tv numbers are terrible. Other than that you’re spot on. Vegas and being close travel per west coast standards are a big plus. LV for championship games.
Sonny Dikes is a very average coach. He should never have lost that game.
I don't want to go to the PAC-12 as a Memphis fan
Trust me, if it's true Memphis already has one foot out the door.
Why not?
I want Memphis and USF in Big 12
Wait a minute, so you gamble your colleges standing as an AD based on a strong level of confidence for a TV Deal!?!?!?!? That is the kind of insightful and factual opinion the sports world has been missing!🤦🏿♂️
Do you think they're just guessing? The Pac has been talking to TV networks and streamers for over a year. They know the price range already, depending on which teams they add. I expect it to be in the 12-15M range, less than half the Big12 and ACC deals, but 2 to 3 times most of the G5 deals.
humor: Buc-ee'sBig12Truckstops Conference ('no truckstops: a pac-12 podcast', who coined the phrase 'truckstops conference', based on a bill walton [r.i.p.] quote)
I would rather AFA join the PAC 12 or try and stay MWC since they have regional rivalries they play each year.
Spencer, will you change your channel back to locked on PAC12 when it reconstitutes?
No because The Ducks are in the Big 10 Conference, not in the Big 12.
@@monicabraunschweiger.3404 and what do the big 10 and big 12 have to do with the question of whether he'll now change his channel back to locked on PAC12? I get how Oregon being in the BIG10 is somewhat relevant, but how is the Big12 relevant to this?
You had to mention Jamarcus Russell…😐🤣
If the shoe fits.
FCS teams would be more exciting for for Mountain West than NMSU and UTEP.
@@tylerjc1000 I don't think so unless it were the North and South Dakota teams!
Does anyone know Cal & Stanford commitment to the ACC - if more or less than 5 years ?
More than 5 years. The ACC media contract with ESPN runs through 2036. If ESPN decides to terminate the contract then ACC teams might be able to get out of the conference.
The ACC's media deal is through 2036. Although, I would imagine they could get out before then (if they want to return to the Pac-12) by paying some monetary payment to the ACC (if the ACC doesn't completely collapse if FSU and Clemson win their lawsuits and move to other conferences themselves).
@@christianleverence9683which won’t happen
uconn to ACC
The Pac12 will be the premier P5 in the country??? Say what? Name ONE premier school in the reconstituted Pac12. Sheesh.
Oregon state of course ;)
Wsu just crushed UW.
Boise St has a history of being ranked, winning record vs Oregon, oklahoma, georgia.
The MW had more teams make march madness than any other conference. This is for basketball as well. They can keep up w the power 4. He called them premier group of 5. (Now group of 6)
He said G5....sheesh
California high school football programs are a main hub for recruiting. All that talent if not excepted by USC or UCLA will go to the PAC 12 teams. So not a far stretch.
Wazzu!
The team I want for the rebuilt pac12 is SMU. SMU isn't an east coast kind of team. And think of the Dallas area recruiting for pac teams.
That ship has sailed. The SMU is paying (dearly) to be in the Power4. They will only think about joining the Pac if it regains P5 status, and even then the ACC exit fees would sink it.
If the PAC 12 wants to succeed the new commissioner needs to bring in more quality teams by having a great media deal. 😊😊😊
Ouija board (Orji) isn't going to make a difference. Moore just wants the heat off of him.
Doesn't matter who they get the PAC12 will be a 3rd tier conference
3rd tier is better than 4th tier. And it's not like the ACC and Big12 are world-beaters right now.
Go Ducks!!!
G 6
air force belongs to the aac. memphis is too for east. tulane does not fit for travel and is not a tv help.
Memphis and especially New Orleans are fun towns for conference Championships.
Lol you’re projecting. Projecting horribly, I’ll add.
@@redd7188get UNLV and USF too for Vegas and Tampa.
Memphis is on the Mississippi River. So is Tulane. Add a couple of Texas teams and it makes sense.
