“It’s a car crash!” You’re not wrong. There was this show called “Sports Science” where they hooked professional athletes up to a bunch of censors to measure the speed and stuff. It was equivalent to something like a 25 mph car crash.
Honestly, not that many broken noses. Most American Football injuries are tendon and ligament related more than bone breaks, not that we don't get the occasional busted wing.
I mean I got a severe bruised ribs and mild concussion and a fractured ankle they said I could've been paralyzed if he hit my back a lil harder (blindside hit on football and the play was over )
To elaborate on my blindside hits comment, if the play is live, then you're responsible for keeping yourself safe, so if it's a sport like hockey and you have your head down, that's kinda on you. But if the play is over, and your guard is down, that's the type of hit that I mean when I say blindsided hits have no place in sports.
2:50. The Tampa Bay player gets floored, gets up and starts walking towards the Dallas player. It looks like there's going to be a confrontation, but no! It's a show of sportsmanship! Giving each other a "middle five" for a good play! NICE!
@@AdamCouser look up Alex Smith the former quarterback for the Washington Football team. He broke his leg and the bone poked through. Flesh eating bacteria got inside .His leg turned black, and doctors had to work hard to save his life. After about 17 operations and a long stay at the hospital and rehab he not only walked again but played football for a bit. Someone probably can tell the story better I
@@aintnosaint_qc Definitely. I have to say this, there's one game in Bills history that I HATE that the Bills won, that was the game in Washington after Sean Taylor died.
I think a broken nose is the least of these players worries. Broken neck, collarbone, sternum, dislocated shoulders, broken ribs that can puncture a lung, fractured skull and of course Concussions which can cause CTE which can lead to alzheimers/dementia and suicide etc... 👍🤷♂️
Not long ago, almost every single one of those was a legal hit. Yes, noses get broken. Nobody who goes onto a football field worries about a broken nose. Honestly, if you don't have a tolerance for pain, there are other sports to play. I'm not throwing shade at all. Football is a sport where you intentionally collide with people with the maximum velocity you can generate. I'm not sure what that says about people who enjoy playing it. I suggest you watch a clip on the career of Dick Butkus... a player as "old school" as they come.
if the sound of the plastic helmets hitting gets to you on video replays I really want to see you go to an NFL game and hear that sound echo thru the stadium on a big hit. If you get lower tier seats and the impact in in your quadrant of the field you kind of feel the collision in your lungs like your chest was a drum and the sound waves were a drum stick.
I'm from America, and I played American football for 13 years as an offensive and defensive lineman, and you were very accurate in saying every play is like a car crash. You get enough power behind every hit on every play and it can definitely feel like that, and you absolutely wake up sore the next morning after a game. I've seen a number of hits like these that you kinda just shrug at and keep on playing. I've gotten clocked myself a time or two, and you just get up and keep going. The worst I ever saw, a teammate got knocked out on the field and when they woke him up and brought him to the sideline for medical care, he kept claiming he was at a local concert venue waiting for Pink Floyd to take the stage. And this was in the late 1990's/early 2000's, so take that for what it's worth. It took almost a quarter of the game before he was able to say where he was and everything. Definitely scary to see first hand something like that.
There are many many concussion and brain injuries. That later in life can be debilitating/ and devastating . Players have committed suicide because of brain injuries. ( JR Seau) the most recent.
I... actually can't recall the last time I saw an NFL game where a player broke his nose. I think you might be discounting just how strong the facemask assembly can be.
The idea... wrap your noodle through it, is that until the whistle blows, their ENTIRE BODY is soooo tense, and with their strenuous training, it baffles most of the hit, and the repeated onslaught of pain, they really only relax after the whistle. If you get racked after the whistle, that's when you get serious injuries... the whole game their body is tense to the max to prevent that. They are the STARS of the game, and nobody really brings up that point. Build muscle around bone to reduce impact, keep it tense, and only relax after the whistle.
In Texas they play football this hard starting around age 6-8 years old in full tackle football, high school, college up to the NFL. My son played it. Its brutal but its the game.
No broke noses!! Shoulder pads are thick and work well for impact. It looks a lot worse than it is most of the time. That's why a lot of players jump up so fast after a hit. If you don't take a helmet to the head most of the time it doesn't hurt.
Johnathan Toews is a player you should react to. 3 time Stanley cup champion, 3 time Olympic gold medallist, he’s won the conn smythe (MVP), he is the third youngest captain in NHL history, and is still the captain of the Chicago Blackhawks.
I honestly didn’t mind getting levelled it used to annoy me at first. But then I realised I get to do it to others….AND I LOVE IT!!!!!! you hit me I hit you harder!!! 🥰🥰🥰
Me and my friends out on the play ground, but it hurts more because we don’t have gear on, also we knock each other out sometimes. We also bare knuckle box
The times when the receiver gets hit right after catching it is referred to as a "hospital pass" because it's technically the quarterback's fault for leading the receiver to an inevitable huge hit
You gotta think about it. These guys have been playing this game their whole life. If they weren't able to bounce back from hits like this regularly, they would have been flushed out of the "game" early on. They still get injured quite often, but it's like they are all boxers with iron jaws because all the glass-jaws have all been filtered out just to get to this level. They're modern day gladiators.
The ones where they spin or fly dont really hurt that bad because the energy of the impact is dissipated by the motion. That's why they uust pop up like they do. I've played the game and been on both ends of those kinds of hits. Being in excellent shape helps, too.
No, they usually never break a nose or anything if wearing a helmet. Penalty if u hit helmet to helmet, also u can't body slam either. These athletes are strong AF... Great video.
Football and hockey players are generally very tough players. I expect Rugby players are the same, but never known any personally. They expect to get hit, and hit hard and have learned how to deal with it....unlike soccer players, some of whom a stiff breeze can send them into convulsions on the ground. With the padding, you're generally well protected from most hits, but your head getting jostled around definitely is a risk for concussions. As for broken noses, there's plenty of space between the cage of the helmet and the face and it is usually strapped down well enough to not move too much, so very little risk of getting smacked with it. Though they do usually wear a mouth guard to protect their teeth and tongues since a hit can snap the jaw closed and do some damage.
I find your reactions funny brother lol. you remind me of people that would watch my friends and I playing tackle football in the streets no pads. we were crazy teens tackling hard and body slamming tackles on cement rain sleet snow didn't matter. 1 friend got dropped on his spine he quit and never played again we called him a pussy he played again ended up with a broken leg and a concussion LOL good times
Older football definitely noses and other things got broken. But modern equipment is designed to absorb and distribute shock around the body. And helmets usually the forehead gets the most pain from helmet to helmet contact. Besides possible brain concussion of course
I was playing baseball and I made it to first sooner than the person trying to throw me out excepted and the ball smacked me right in my nose and broke it. I’ve never played since. Thought I share my broken nose story with you. Keep up the good work. 😃
Actually, broken noses aren't a regular occurrence in the NFL. The facemasks on their helmets are insanely strong. That being said, concussions are a VERY common thing in the NFL
You have to remember that these players are the top 1% of the top 1% of the athletic gene pool. These guys ARE the best athletes IN THE WORLD. They are no joke. They are genetic freaks and are the biggest, fastest, most agile humans on the planet. They do get injured but most often they don't because they are in phenomenal condition. Countless hours of weights, strength and agility training. That's why they're able to take such punishment.
