Astro was the face of Alis UB40. He was the party , feel good man. Sometimes it comes the time to call it a day . The record version of Purple Rain was a great Reggae version and comes across well Live ... was a good tribute. RIP the Main Man on the Microphone stand Astro ❤❤❤

I'd be interested to know, too, Duncan. That one's been kept very quiet for some reason. I'll hang on to all the great memories I had of a band of which I was incredibly proud from day one, being a Brummie of a similar age. Horrible to have witnessed such a decline and the split. In my humble opinion, Robin and the other lads have more going for them. Ali trades on his voice only. Nobody will ever know where all the money went.
That's one well never know and anyway that's Mickey's business and obviously if he wanted everyone to know I'm sure he would have said he obviously wants to keep it private and that is his choice

Ever listened to UB40's Dub sessions? To what UB40 should sound like musically? Or listened to their original written tracks with their own wonderful lyrics? Those lyrics arent written by him. A lot by Brian. The Pillow, End of War, Rainbow Nation, Higher Ground, Guns in the Ghetto, all Brian lyrics. And he wrote a lot more then that. Besides that, Ali's brass section is extremely poor. If you ever heard the old UB40 live the brass gives goodebumps. Not with Ali. Earl Falconers bass is also essential to every original UB40 track, he's brilliant. Its mainly Ali who goes around saying he is the greatest and hottest reggae act in town, a 60+ year old grabbing his crotch on stage to do his "sexy" dance. Its all so pathetic. You can be a fan of him, whatever. He is just terribly overrated. Mainly by himself.
@@jahmekya32 I agree about the brass section,but if the lead singer is murdering the songs,the whole,original sound is gone.Duncan couldn't sing most of the songs Ali sang.It just changed the whole original sound.Alis voice has a magic that's lost from UB40 now.I have to say though,that Duncan smashed Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain.He was brilliant on that song.
