      Eli one was a murderer, huge oil corporation magnate, and the other was an actor who “spoke” very conservative republican, however never decreased spending even during the reganomics tax cuts. Just look up art laffer vs Peter schiff. The regan administration was BS. Not conservative. Not reublican

      Unlike today's Republicans, both these men were on the same page, determined to defeat the Democrats and restore what they believe to be "American values." They were not trying to split party wings - if anything they had different ideas. But they later demonstrated how to come together with their ideas to be running-mates (and a presidential successor).

Don’t get me wrong, everything Reagan “says” is on point, but reganomics is a joke and his presidency was one big acting gig. He lied about everything. He isn’t conservative at all. The national debt continued to rise during “reganomics”. Art Laffer didn’t see the bubble of 08 coming. To quote Noam Chomsky (not the most conservative source, I know), “we have not had an honest president since JFK”. And truthfully, a lot of us think that George HW Bush was involved in CIA ops in the 50s and 60s in the Caribbean especially. Just look up CIA involvement in guatemala and understand that Bush sr had a mysterious oil company in the Caribbean called Zapata around the same time. Omg there's so much much substance and class here. Watching the republican debates this year was like watching a long fart. Came here to clean my palate...wish the Republican Party went back to how it was here and the democrats went back to the left, where FDR left it :( that way we could have a real discussion that would help the people...and not corporations. Don't buy the partisanship. Both parties are in the pockets of the corporations. That's why the only candidate I trust is Bernie. Everyone else is bought for, in trumps case, a narcissistic man-child. Before you say anything, compare trump to Reagan, or even Bush. He doesn't even hold a candle...

    Expediency and lack of principle enabled Bush to drop his (well-founded) critique of Reagan's huge unfunded tax cuts once he joined the ticket. He seemed to remember them in 1990 when he agreed to tax increases to pay down the deficit, but by then the no-tax orthodoxy was so absolute in the Republican party it killed him.

      Trickle-down economics never worked. It only made things worse. Reagan's tax cuts only succeeded in raising the debt from 26% of GDP to 41% and it kept going up after that until Clinton came into office.

    • @DeusExAstra
      @DeusExAstra 8 лет назад +2

      ***** No, trickle down economics doesnt work. It might create some benefit in the short term, but eventually it fails miserably. Economists understand this well by now. All you have to do is look at what happened to the national debt when Reagan started implementing his policies, and the same for GW Bush.

Even though I wouldn’t vote for either of these guys, at least both of them represented a time when Americans were somewhat more civil in contrast to today. Back then debates were exactly what the definition of the word “debate” is. Now today we have a president who brings in an ex-president’s accusers to get in the head of his opponent and that same president threatening to put his opponent in jail if he wins. How far have we fallen today. The America of 1980 is nothing like the America of 2020 and we are all the worse off for it. Vladimir Putin is laughing at us.
