So a bit of clarification; Bunkasha only developed the Xbox port of the game, which released in February 2002. The PS2 (which Eden played here) and the Gamecube ports were done instead by 'Stealth Studios'. No I've never heard of them either. Those particular ports released in November that same year. IGN's review that was highlighted at the start of the video WAS for that Xbox port, which having played myself, is visually far superior and has better driving physics, plus for some bizarre reason, having replays that are very reminiscent to that of *Gran Turismo 3.* (Its also the source of where the game's cutscenes originate, which ran off of that port's engine.) That being said, I'm firm in believing that the "9" score given to the game was all down to marketing hype (which this game strangely had LOTS of at the time) because of the Xbox being the 'powerhouse' console of its generation. Like, the Xbox port isn't actually too bad in all honesty, but I probably wouldn't have given it any higher than a 7 myself. IGN *DID* review the PS2 port as seen here, where they only gave it a 6.8 in comparison. Which is still far higher than I'd give this particular port, lmao. Ironically, GameSpot also gave a 6.8 score, but for the Xbox version instead. They were harsher on the PS2/Gamecube ports, giving a 5.6 and 5.4 respectively. *Still higher than I would've given it.* Fun fact; This game actually has a *sequel,* but was only released in Japan, and ONLY on the Xbox, known as "Double S.T.E.A.L. The Second Clash" (The first game was called Double S.T.E.A.L. in Japan, instead of Wreckless). Despite being a Japanese only release, the game *is entirely in English.* It released in Summer 2005 and can natively output at 720P. Pretty underrated game, honestly.
Interesting read. I'll have to look for the Xbox version later. Is this game Japanese made? It really doesn't look like a Japanese game, but a western studio releasing a game only in Japan, and on the Xbox no less, would be pretty unusual.
@@NotReallyHifumiTakimoto From my understanding, this (and the sequel) was all that Bunkasha Games were known to have released. They were apparently the gaming studio that was a part of "Bunkasha Publishing Co., LTD"

Oh my god. I remember this game. It was stuck inside my memory with its extremely weird cut scenes. I know that I used to play it, but I had no clue what to do honestly as I was still quite young. And I could never revisit the game, as I have never owned it, but just lended it for a week from a video game store. I forgot what the name was, but now I know again thanks to you Dustin. I don't plan on playing this thing ever again, but it did annoy me that I couldn't get a grasp on how this game, that was stuck in my memory for way too long, was called.
I think it was because the costs were much lower so publishers didn't mind greenlighting most of the projects the studios presented since there wasn't many established IPs. Companies like Ubisoft and Activision even went as far as to publish games that weren't made by their internal studios which is extremely rare nowadays.
Some of the game's soundtrack was done by Brian "BT" Transeau. However, it's all recycled music from Die Hard Trilogy 2: Viva Las Vegas, released two years prior.
