    Why formyl ion is attack only on ortho position why not to other???

      There is no other substituent which is why there's no ortho, meta, para and / or ipso position. Those definitons only work in respect to other groups. You can for example get an ortho addition in respect to the NH2 in aniline, you can't get any of that with a benzene ring.

    Or there is some mechanism
