It hit New Jersey so bad. l lost power for 10 days and a lot of people in my town had to take refuge in my high school. The immediately following the storm we had a blizzard and I remember being so cold at night because we had no power or any form of heat. But it really was a time where the community came together.
Same, my town had no power for 2 weeks and our school was a shelter for the elderly. I came back here because of the houstin hurricane and this brought back memories for real

I really really appreciate these reporters of the risk they take, just to enlighten us on the latest groundbreaking news all around the world (not only this particular devastating storm) Hats off! There should be celebrated a reporters day internationally as well to encourage them.
My family was very fortunate. We only lost power for a day. My grandparents who lived a mile away from us only lost their internet. They never lost their lights. Our house suffered no damage. We had a tree in our backyard fall on our house from Hurricane Irene in 2011. We had another backyard tree fall on a different part of our roof during Hurricane Isais in August 2020. Our roof sustained heavy damage from it. During Irene I was in our guest room (now my dads office) going through some stuff and I heard a big crash and I was like “what was that?” I came up the stairs and I saw through one of our kitchen picture windows a tree on the house and I immediately got my parents. It was after the storm came through and the tree succumbed to the damage it sustained during the storm. During Isais DURING the storm I was with my brother and we were talking with my dad in his office and out of the blue a we heard a huge crash on the roof and we immediately went outside and realized the other tree fell right over our heads. It fell on the part of the roof where my parents room is. When we did the cleanup after Isais we had the utility crew cut down whatever was left of the tree. I’ll never forget that.
One of the worst storm I’ve ever experienced as a New Yorker. First time I ever feared for my and my families life as the storm hit. The entire night the gust of wind blowing and numerous I thought my roof was flying off. I huddled with my then 2 years old daughter and husband in the dark the whole night. It was scary as hell.
i was 6 years old and halloween was cancelled in my city. i remember just staring out the window and not being able to see anything outside. it was terrifying, especially for the tri-state area.
Same I was also six and I remember my sister crying (she was 2) because it was pretty dark, so she probably felt alone and scared. We ended up staying at our cousins house in PA till it was safe to go back.
I grew up in Belize (central america) so I'm familiar with what a good storm feels like. But to see a storm with this amount of energy hit the East Coast - Let's just conclude it's definitely historic.
I think we need another BIG storm to hit the East Coast. Best of times! I was siphoning gas, walking around meeting people, taking pictures... Disaster brings people together
That is really bad people don’t deserve to go through that a lot of family’s really struggled from this really bad do you really want people to suffer again I mean I was 12 at the time and I lived close to the beach and I lost my home and my family was almost homeless is that what you what
You need to think about other people, many people died, lost their homes or were injured, sure it brought people together, but there are many consequences.
I am from Pennsylvania on the eastern side of it and after it was over we walked down to the creek near our house and the creek and it was like 1/4 of a mile wide and it is usually 15 feet wide. And the one guard rail on the left side of the bridge was washed away.
My friend was in hurricane sandy... and I kind of feel guilty about not being born yet, not being able to experience it with her... but I’m also kind of glad I wasn’t born yet, being able to be safe. But the story she told me, was no one died, but when I watched this I had a few questions. It is now March 17, 2021. I want to learn how to prevent people from getting hurt in these things, especially in the case of a tornado. I also heard that a bomb exploded to, which is devastating. I hope no one is still recovering from there injuries, and they are all safe now.

People across the World...we must realize that we share the same planet. its time to appreciate what we have in this lifetime. Whether you have family or not...we must love one another. I know its hard in a world where all we hear is bad news, but that is just a distraction from how beautiful this life really is. So much hate it is contagious, a disease, a virus that must be stopped and cut off from who we truly are. We are given the miracle of life..lets embrace it.
Hey, I was an infant at the time, and I lived damn near the water where it happened. My parents have told me that when it hit, power went out. Obviously. But the water almost reached our door.(we lived upstairs at the time, we’ve moved though.)They’ve also told me that a car was up in a tree. Yes, up in a tree. After the storm passed, people were lining up their cars and opened the doors so we could crawl through. Fun fact, the picture where the man was walking in the water holding his dog, happened on MY BLOCK! I know right? Crazy stuff.
i was 6 when this happened.. my family is on long island, (me, my parents and my 4 y/o sister), 30 minutes from nyc and right next to the water. we basically did exactly what that woman said at 1:26! we only lost power for a good week, i believe? a tree fell on my neighbors house, and we have many huge trees around our homes, so we panicked a bit. we also had quite a bit of flooding, outside and inside our home, but besides that, we were all ok! I live in tornado alley, where without warning , strike late evening or during the night. Nature is something to not take lightly, if I lived where hurricane strike I'd get hotel inland until the Strom passes. A tornado 🌪 just a cloud then with little warning can cause immense destruction. One side of the street houses are leveled the other left untouched, can flip train cars off the tracks, drive blade of grass into a tree. Both are amazing extreme forces of nature.
