    Those parts look pretty good to me, especially for that cheap price. Im looking forward to sending them my order soon for structural steel machine project.

    For the price, those parts are beautiful...

      Yep, I just hear a lot of whining over some steel cutting.

  • @DutchSteam

    Those micro tabs/joints are used to keep the cut part attached to the plate so that they don't fall between the grating, or lift up and collide with and damage the machine. They are unfortunately necessary, and need to be removed after the cutting.

      That what I figure too. My concern isn't with the tabs, it's with the tabs being present after coating.

      They do mention the tabs and services that are available for a given material on their website within the materials individual page. They have quite a bit of comprehensive data on the properties of their materials, process limitations, and considerations to make when ordering. They also have pictures of example parts in most of their materials on the site if you dig around.
      I think they omit this from the commercials as it is quite a bit of information to cover, and likely impractical to fit in a commercial, plus specific to certain materials and processes. Maybe they could mention the additional information however.

    FWIW, I ordered a bracket, including bending, cut from thin aluminum. I didn't notice any burrs like you have seen, but I prepped the surface with a scotch-brite and some acetone before priming and painting myself.

    Stick a wire wheel to it and it will be fine. It’s good metal. I fabricate and never see metal that good.

    Definitely extra processing involved. Seems like it’s there to prevent tip ups because I’m sure they are cutting a full sheet of parts at a time.
    Quick hit with orbital (60grit for steel) will clean the edges/surface for coating (acetone cleaning prior to paint) but the tabs will require something more aggressive. Maybe a file would give you the most control and cleanest look without worrying about feathering the edge.

    Man I’m gonna be honest working in a machine/job shop, that surface finish is better than most steel we receive right off the truck. That kind of looks like a mill finish off the roll mills. I know it’s kinda streaky, but I think they’re kind of exaggerating the quality of the incoming steel a little bit. Material shortages and prices are very bad right now, we reject about 5% of incoming lateral which used to be almost never before the virus. The tab appears to be someone just having a bad day or skipping it, or they just don’t remove them. We get those off our jet/mill and are usually a couple quick file strokes. They could be entry or exits as well as holding tabs.
    That being said, the email is weird. But they did list it on the website to be fair. Sounds like the marketing department is a little zealous about quality.

      I couldn't agree more. The steel I get from the shop down the road is horrible; this stuff is mint in comparison.
      I'm not knocking them, just they advertise better than delivered.

    I've purchased an order of finished metal nameplates, and they came out perfect. No burrs, no scratches.

      Thin material?

    • @ElegantD
      @ElegantD 11 месяцев назад +1

      @@reviewsrus2633 Yeah, it was thin aluminum pieces with lettering. We call 'em "chits". Last name with a hole for checking out equipment at work.

    You could've had the finishing done. But for what you paid, as apposed to sourcing your own materials then paying someone else to cut it for you; you came out way on top!

    You said you’re glad you didn’t get them finished because the parts aren’t ready to be finished. But I’m pretty sure they get them ready to be finished before they finish them. You ordered unfinished parts and you received unfinished parts basically.

    That's what i am worried about when ordering a finished powder coated part with pem nuts. They say they don't plug threaded holes but if I pay for a pem nut and i get it delivered with clogged up id be furious.

    • @reviewsrus2633
      @reviewsrus2633  7 месяцев назад +1

      In theory you can run a tap down them afterwards?
      But yeah, that was my point of the video really, maybe to avoid the finishing.

    • @DigitalDivotGolf
      @DigitalDivotGolf 7 месяцев назад

      @@reviewsrus2633 yeah that’s an option but at like $1 a pem for them to install I would rather just order raw metal and install the nuts myself then take it to my local powder coat shop that I know plugs the tapped holes. I appreciate your review on them because it’s made me think twice given all their limitations 🍻

    Good job on explaining what to expect, that will help others thinking their part is going to be something it won't be. Full disclosure on what to expect in their advertising would be nice, especially with online sales. It's not like you can walk in and ask to see a sample of what to expect when they run your parts. You end up having to grind off that little hill on the edge of your parts. But, as you said, the price is good and they cut the part to spec. Now you know you can expect to do some work on the part before you can use it.

  • @ahbushnell1

    I think you are way to picky. That nipple can be taken off with a file. I do that all the time on there parts. If you want to pay for hand work then it's going to be more expensive.

    • @reviewsrus2633
      @reviewsrus2633  8 месяцев назад +2

      I mean, I do agree. But what if you paid for powder coating? You would expect a finished part, correct? But no, you'll be left with sharp notches that need to be filed off (along with the coating, which you cannot repair)

    You didn't have them plate or powder the part, so stop complaining about their plating and powdercoating. This is more of a complaint video than a review.

  • @ThatOldMan2112
    @ThatOldMan2112 7 месяцев назад +1

    Wow, Karen. You got perfectly accurate steel parts for under 7 bucks, and you're whining that you may have to do a little filing- even though you admit it costs you less than your material cost would be? Which is going to take you longer - running a file over that tab real quick or driving down and paying more for just the steel, setting up your plasma table, cutting the part and then, guess what, still having more cleanup than you do with this one. The whole vibe here is just snooty and entitled.

    anyone whos worked in a shop will know you got a bargain here yet your still complaining? 5 to 6mm peice of steel laser cut to your spec for $6 come on now
