    If you've spent any amount of time on Fabrication Instagram, you can't miss @sendcutsend. They are a rapid manufacturer that quickly fabricates from your own custom design, and delivers that product directly to you. It's a business founded by regular-folk garage builders, just like you and me.
    You can see I've made great use of their services, and it was high time I gave you folks my candid assessment of them. Spoiler alert - I'm a fan.
    Take care,
    David

    Thanks for the sticker pack David.
    I used send cut send for the first time about 4 years ago. I used their website to create some molle-style panels for the luggage rack on my ktm adventure bike. They turned out incredibly awesome. I considered buying a bunch more and starting a side business selling them online but I never did.
    But more recently about 3 weeks ago I started using send cut send for little things I need for projects at work. (I’m a industrial maintenance mechanic). I’ve realized that send cut send has now opened up a can of worms for me. Because everyone across the plant keeps requesting little things to be made by me out of steel.
    Recently I ordered some 3 hole tabs that they are powder coating for me. That’ll save me some time since the safety lady frowns about spray paint. 😂

      Sounds like they’re super handy to you, too. How the garage coming?

    I have to say I was going to start using send cut send after your last video because of the quality that appeared when their parts showed up. Now that I have heard you speak to their quality first hand I am going to place an order for sure! 👍🏻. Great stuff as always David 👊🏻

    Nice review! I absolutely agree. Sendcutsend has been a game changer for sure. I usually use them for smaller orders, and Osh Cut for larger orders. A few things to note about value.
    1. Design for Manufacturing. You touched on this a bit, but it saves so much time when a manufacturer has an online system that gives you immediate feedback on your design. You can make the necessary changes to ensure your design can be made.
    2. Bend quality. I’ve tried a couple of shops local to DFW and have not yet had luck with bend quality. Sendcutsend and Osh Cut are always spot on. Part of that might be the k-factor in my design. I believe both manufacturers automatically adjust your bends and/or k-factor to their tooling specifications. This is another money and time saver and is the main reason I keep going back to them for my projects.
    3. Good point about the nitrogen vs argon. I did not know about that.
    4. I am hoping sendcutsend adds tube laser services soon.

      CNC tube bending and laser coping would be a real treat. Really appreciate your thoughtful comment - very useful insights for others that might venture here.

    Ive been eyeballing their site for a few months.. and I keep waiting on the right opportunity to make use of them. Your video really makes me feel better about going ahead and trying out some projects. Thanks.

      I’ll caution. Once you start down the path of designing and building your own parts, it’s highly addictive…and extremely rewarding. Also, I underestimated the utility of their at first, which turned out to be way off. Super useful for almost 20% of the odds and ends I need to make.

    I have drank the SCS kool-aid and agree with everything you said! I watched this more to see what negatives you had.

      As I go deeper into their services, I’ll keep updating, but so far it’s all upside.

    Its a rabbit hole! I started with 3d printing and used blender. It didnt take long to dive into autodesk 360 😂. I nerd some metal parts cut for a project and I think "send, cut, send" is getting my business! Thsnks for the demo and review!

    I work with a few metal working shops both locally an online. Send cut send is amazing! Even for local shop where there is no shiping I cannot beat the lead times and prices are ussually not far from prices I get on larger orders of items from other shops. Only drawback is I have parts I get powder coated and a lot of my parts are larger than thier capabilities allow. I have been blown away by there quality, turn around rate, and speed.
    I've also used Xometry but for anything I'm making, the prices are about 3-4 times higher than send cut send.

    Great review.
    I'm puzzled that nitrogen, which is not inert, gives a better cut edge than argon, which *is* inert.

    • @WillometMotorFab
      @WillometMotorFab  6 месяцев назад

      It’s been a while since I took a chemistry class, but I recall nitrogen is pretty darned inert (like barely reactive), but certainly isn’t as inert as argon. My guess is that the laser shop that says they’re using argon actually uses compressed air for commercial jobs that don’t call for a weld ready edge. That definitely creates a dark edge.

    • @noahkatz9616
      @noahkatz9616 6 месяцев назад

      @@WillometMotorFab Yeah, that shop must be using air as argon is much more expensive than nitrogen so there would be no point in using it.
      There are many compounds containing nitrogen - nitrous oxide, the ceramic silicon nitride, a critical component of proteins and fertilizers, etc

    You can send that same DXF to a good local shop and have it same or next day.. We do it all the time and no shipping cost.

      Same day would be hard to pass up, especially if it includes a range of materials and a weld ready edge. This is one more tool in the drawer for folks that don’t have the services you describe within arm’s reach.
