I love how it gives you the option for left or right hand drives. I wish my Hasegawa Civic’s had this option. They only come in right hand drive. Great unboxing video.
Really looking forward to this build using the upgrade kit in the next video. Thanks for doing such a basic kit and upgrading it as this is how I would be able to do a similar build. See you on the next video.
Cool! I never heard of the COX 420Si 16V. Does anyone know more about it regarding the specs? The only thing I can find is that COX made 18 units of the 420Si and that it can run on 110 octane. Pretty interesting car though!
Funny to see, that in a kit with so many intricate options and variants, in the engine bay there's the almost basic 1.8L 8-valve, Single Point Injection engine and not the distinctive 2.0 16V with the long intake-runners, typically fitted in the GTi. But the question is, why it's supplied to begin with, since the bonnet is fixed to the body molding anyway, and thus you won't ever see it. But if you'd go through all the trouble to reveal it, it would show the wrong engine... 🥴
Thanks for clarifying, as even with the Haynes manual for the real car, I couldn't quite determine which engine it was trying to be. A pity really that Fujimi didn't just give us an empty engine bay and a small parts sprue for the engine of a given kit release's variant of MK.3 Golf; then again I could say similar things about the lack of a open-bonnet part (thus having the underside detail) or options to depict different seats.
Hey I recently got this kit and was wondering if you had any recommendation before I do it. Id like to make this look like a 2 door is there a product you recommend to fill the lines of the back doors, i was thinking JB weld.
Oh Tom i love that you build this Kit. Will it be stock or customised? Lowerd? I am building the Fujimi VW Golf 2 Gti the yellow one right at the moment.
Thanks for this. I have the GTi variant of this kit (03242) and most of the details - and faults - are the same. In mine though different wheels are supplied instead, alongwith some of the parts being in red plastic... for some reason. (the wheels being in this shade of red too, albeit below a layer of chroming, so trimming off sprue nubs is extra-fustrating) Overall I think Fujimi were needlesly lazy when tooling this kit back in 1992, as there's so mary areas where they could have done far better for minimal effort, and had a more modifyable product. (particularly in the engine bay, running gear & interior / lack of any door or boot features) Good news though: the more common CL / GL releases of this kit *do* have the main body and other parts in white plastic.
very good video because you uploaded 2 different videos about the jetta and the golf gti mk3? I thought it was the video of only 1 single car doing the unboxing
Depends on which release of the kit and where it's from. Here in the UK it's rare outside of dedicated shops so I had to get my GTi iteration of this kit from EBay, for £34.00. The GL release seems to be cheaper though, as well as the Revell reissue of the kit.
@@BobH809 I'm unsure precisely how many of the following I have, due to some being part-built donations / purchases, and due to having several kits lost in a 2019 incident, but currently I could approximate: *Built* : about 30 (some from the '90's, most recent) *Building* : more than 42 (about a quarter being part-built donations) In-Stash: Over 700 (not sure exactly how many, due to a few being partial / unboxed, and others still not organized) When I've got a problem with workshop ventilation sorted, the in-progress model pile will shrink swiftly :D . I've known a few modellers who have over a thousand kits though, and I think around 2,400 is the record. (for a solo modeller that isn't a kit trader or shop owner though XD) I remember having less than 100 kits though; it was a combo of great shop deals, spending most of my teenage job wages on such things, and buying up a large part of two other modeller's stashes, that led to this result. (where I got most of my FROG & Matchbox kits) Hoping to do model reviews (on RUclips) soon, once the new computer's done :D
@@jimtaylor294 Very good stash then. Look forward to seeing some of your creations later on YT. An aside- One of my Dad's mates was called Jim Taylor, they both worked for Harris Road Services out of Lostock, Northwich.
@@BobH809 Thanks, and aye it's a surprisingly popular name. Incidentally: I recommend *Scalemates* if you want to keep track of your stash. In my case I joined the 'site a few years ago when I already had hundreds, but it's helped a lot in my keeping track since then / identifying partial kits, and finding aftermarket parts :D
The two auto shifters are for left and right hand drive. The button on the side of the shifter would be on different sides. Nice detail!
Came down here to write exactly that!
You beat me to it. Cheers!

I'm excited for this build, the Jetta is one of my favorites. I had a VR6 for two years and it was so fun to drive.

uy bueno este Unboxing: Fujimi Volkswagen Golf GTI MK 3, gracias y saludos desde Venezuela.

Sweet I still have my old top of the range diesel golf.
Looks like a fun kit to build!
Very interesting Golf GTI MK 3 model kit !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Very good😄
Nice, I can’t wait to build this one.

Would be nice to see this car with sunroof open 👌 It's gonna be cool model anyway
Love the COX 420
I LOVE IT! and I NEED it!!!!!

What should I do with the body if I want to build the Harlekin Golf with this kit.

What are poly caps for? My Aoshima kit comes with them as well and it seems to only stop the wheel axle from rotating.

Ik zeg zoeken naar 1:24 lampenbalk en biza strepen en maak er een 020 politie bak van :p
super!!!
Do you still get a buzz from making these kits, being as you make so many?
I still do, and I have over 700 *:D* .
@@jimtaylor294 Wow, 700! Is that 700 built, or waitng to be built? I have over 60 kits, mixed types, to build and just bought another this week.
