I bought the PVC whistle 2 years ago precisely because it was the cheapest low D whistle available... and was pleasantly surprised with its quality! hearing you play it so I know how much even better it can sound just cements that I made the right choice! lol
How is the 2nd octave? I'm a beginner, I have the same one, but compared to my small whistle, only the lower octave seems to sound good to me :(

Bought the tuneable plastic with exchangeable flute-head from Dixon. It's a good start when you want to transfer from whistle to flute in my opinion.
I bought the dixon Low D whistle (tunable aluminium) one on a whim... I am glad I made the lucky choice and got this one as it is easy to hold and play and has a nice sound...
I can't say the same when i bought the clark special edition high D whistle though lol. Love the look, but it really takes some getting used to....
I have the one piece and love it
Which one should I get to play along with
the Marshall Tucker Band.?. I'm actually a guitar player
and don't really want to invest in a quality flute, but it would be fun to try these ☺️
Thanks for this review. I started playing with the low metal D Dixon and I found it was sligthly out of tune in higher octave. Now I know it comes from my playing and not from the instrument. It was though a good choice, the sound is lovely and warm and my small hands managed to handle it quite easily.
I've had a tuneable plastic low D for some years now. I more recently bought an aiuminium one and wasn't so keen at first. It seemed much breathier but as I played it and got used tomit, I have come prefer it to the plastic one.
You can hear the difference in the low notes especially. Both sound lovely but the aluminium has a beautiful resonance in the deep notes.
Thanks for the great review on these two whistles. Can I ask what the bore size is please on the both of them ? Or at the bottom end at least, since the plastic is conical? I'm collecting info on whistle bores etc. Thanks.
I'd love to try the aluminum low D. I have an alto g from the same range and it's so bad. Crackly scratchy on the lower notes and also crossing the octaves. $20 James becker alto G is way more playable
Have you ever come across a one piece plastic flute marketed as a Renaissance flute? Could you do a comparison review for a flute body collar v’s voice Mic pickup for the flute/whistle?
What is the song you're playing on the first whistle?

Thank you for the comparing. How much can you tune the flute? Is it just few cents or can you tune to c# or even e? Thank you
It's just fine tuning in the same key. You can get to a c# but it's not advisable as it's not designed to do that, so throws some of the other notes in the scale a little off.

I've not tried it, but it's more about the maker than the key of whistle 😊 the low and high whistles are great, so I'm sure the whistles in-between will be too!

Hey CutiePie I just bought the Tony Dixon low D whistle from Big Whistle. Supposedly they have mailed my whistle. My question is: they have not responded to any of my emails. I had questions. Did you have the same problem? Because of this issue I am wondering did they just take my money. I have emailed them 3 times. Any insight would help. Thanks.
I've never had a problem with bigwhistle replying to emails, no. What were your questions? Perhaps I can try an inside route to check if they've been received 😊
@@CutiepieTinWhistle thanks so much. They said my item had postage and I would hear from the carrier when it was dispatched. In my account it says complete on May 27th in my account. There are no other details. So I asked them about tracking my item if they could help me. I emailed them three times and even used a different email thinking maybe they did not receive my original emails. They are a new company for me so when I got no response I freaked. I just want to know if it is in transit and are they receiving my emails? Do you need my order number? Thanks again.
