The Studio Ghibli Theme Park was amazing and I hope you guys get visit soon! Let me in the comments below what is your favorite Ghibli Film of all time!
@@Busha69 "heartwarming" because it shows the beauty and meaning of true friendship between Sosuke and ponyo. and yes, the film is rather exciting for me. and no wonder it is my favourite.
i love the tale of princess kaguya very underrated ghibli flim and i think it deserves way more love and recognition the art style is different from the other ghibli films but it's beautiful and great
Yet my friend would rather watch action anime then watch ghibli movies, I would recommend watching spy x family as it fits a similar vibe and matches the quality of studio ghibli productions, or if your just odd like me watch my deer friend nokotan.
I feel like no one is giving the Wind Rises the recognition it deserves. It's one of the most beautiful films ever put by ghibli. I really like the music especially!
Mine is Whisper of the Heart. This movie really hits different and I never get bored if I rewatch it again for 12626262x times. I don’t know why, but I just love it to the core ❤
Not only is Porco Rosso my favourite Ghibli but it's also my favourite movie ever. Something about it just perfectly captures that nostalgic feeling of lost time. The french dub with Jean Reno is probably the only time I will chose one over subs, he just embodies the character perfectly.
I’m so happy there are people would also rank Castle in the Sky as their number one movie. It’s my favorite and I feel like such an outlier when I tell people it’s my favorite
It's mine too alongside spirited away, I was so mind blown when I first saw it as I never thought such movies could exist. Honestly it surprises me how it is not more popular given how it has everything you want in a ghibli. A fascinating and mysterious world, great and endearing characters, a mix between touching and impressive scenes, with a simple enough story to follow. I love this movie, love its world and characters, love the 80' animation, love the steampunk style, such a great movie.
I used to force my mom to watch it with me a million times because I loved it so much. The length is no joke! I know it's really popular in Japan, but people in the west have barely heard of it. One of my favorite Studio Ghibli soundtracks and the characters are just so cool.
I love how many people said from up on poppy hill. It's just a cute story.and there's a ton of emotion behind it. Plus the art is just beautiful!!! I absolutely love Howl's Moving Castle for how it tackles the different forms beauty comes in and how inner beauty and true bravery are valuable , while vanity and selfishness are not. The character transformations mainly due to Sophie being her true self and no longer keeping her mouth shut on her feelings are beautiful.
My favourite Ghibli film has to be Princess Mononoke. It's something about the visuals of that movie as well as the characters. I adore Ashitaka as he's a prince devoted to keeping peace as he himself is dying caused by hate. San is also such a good female lead!! I love how their friendship and relationship went on and also loved how the movie presents love in many different ways.

Just in the intro of this video you can see both younger people, young adults, and older adults all together in the park; I think it's really amazing that Ghibli's movies have been able to reach so many people from different walks of life through the masterful artwork and story telling. Excited to see Studio Ghibli's works continue to spread and inspire people everywhere!
My favorite is Whisper of the Heart. The way the story unfolds is soothing, if that makes sense. I love how it is simple but at the same time, it is so heartwarming. The calmness I get after watching it stays longer than any Studio Ghibli movies I’ve watched.
no one answer "whisper of the heart" even though that movie is very good too.. i love the way shizuku and seiji love each other. but yeah, actually whisper of the heart is most underated ghibli's movies. i love this video, and someday i hope can go there, to Ghibli Park❤️
It ebbs and flows for me as I rewatch different films over time, but Only Yesterday was the most recent rewatch that hit really different for some reason. So hard to choose a clear favorite!
We always look forward to these street interviews. Studio Ghibli films have always been sentimental. It proves the fact that Hayao Miyazaki is a totally exceptional storyteller.
It's interesting that Japanese people have a wider range of answers on this topic compared to international viewers. My favorite film by Studio Ghibli is Princess Mononoke. It has exciting action, and it shows the importance of humans living in harmony with the natural world. Ashitaka is my favorite character because he always tries to be diplomatic/tactful first, and he is strong when he needs to fight. Spirited Away would be my second choice because it is very nostalgic for me and has a lot of interesting symbolism. I still remember being fascinated by Spirited Away when I first watched it without any background knowledge. It's really one-of-a-kind.
It's because of popularity. For westerners in 80s and 90s, they only get limited exposure to animes, and they still see cartoon as child shows, not really family shows. Spirited Away's winning Oscar (Best Animated Movie) boosted its popularity to westerners amidst the rise of anime there. So, for most westerners, Spirited Away was their first Ghibli movie.
@@zitronentee The movie itself also has a lot of merit, I personally watched most ghibli movies and spirited away was neither the first nor the last one I watch but it is still my favourite one alongside the castle in the sky (which was my first one). I think that is one of the most ambitious ghibli, compared to something like totoro or Kiki's delivery service but it keeps things simple and touching. Like Mononoke and Howl's moving castle are two big success in the west and they have their own merit, but they sometimes forget to chill out and be a bit less serious. It is absolutely not to bring those movie down, they are as good as ghibli gets but Spirited away speaks more to you inner kid.
When Marnie was there HAS to be my most favourite. Saddest Ghibli movie is Grave of fireflies. I cried sooo much watching the movie. Most comforting - whisper of the heart, kiki's delivery service.
Only yesterday animated by ghibli has a special place in my heart, I relate with it on such a deep level, Ive been caught up in my past for a long long time and the movie somehow helped me embrace it.
I really enjoy your videos! Favourite Ghibli film is such a tough question... I think Howl's Moving Castle because of the music and Calcifer, but no one mentioned The Cat Returns which has a special place in my heart. ♥
My personal favorite Ghibli film has to be Only Yesterday. I tend to prefer more intimate, quiet films and Only Yesterday is exactly that. Some people may find it boring but I just really connected with it. Taeko is my favorite Ghibli protag... but Lady Eboshi is my favorite character. I love her so much.
Finally someone said Only Yesterday. I like the movie personally and yes i feel some people find it boring but it has own charm and understanding of life in this confused era.
For me my favourite was Howl's Moving Castle mostly because it was my first one and because of that I got introduced to the Ghibli World... Idk the story is a bit confusing but it's interesting and I loved all the characters together then the music is simply amazing and nostalgic. All of that combined is just a magical movie but I love all Ghili movies they are just.....soooo perfect thank you for Ghibli existing!! Btw I have to visit that park one day x)
I love how everyone's favorite character is not typically the main character. Ghibli stories do a great job of bringing charm to all the special characters in the story.
Only Yesterday deserves more love for how a meaningful slice of life it is. The first time i saw it, i cried my eyes out for how relatable it is and from then on became my favourite along with Spirited Away.
My favorite movie is Howl's moving castle, it's my favorite comfort movie too. The most underrated movies although are "only yesterday" and "when marnie was there" - these two films surprised me so much because they were so amazing but it seems like nobody ever talks about them!
Actually I loved spirited away and howl moving castle but, since spirited away is my first animation I would choose spirited away as my favorite, I cried when I was three years old when Haku gave onigiri to chihiro and she cried, that makes my heart cry so much.
As someone who first watched all the Ghibli films as an 18 year old during the lockdown I loved the classics like Totoro, Mononoke and Spirited Away. However my absolute favourites that really had a big impact on me would be The Wind Rises, Only Yesterday and The Tale of the Princess Kaguya which I think are all really underrated both as Ghibli films and animated films in general
@@Yukis.aviation yeah, that's why one of my Fav Anime movies "In This Corner of the World" is not popular in japan. It's pretty similar to the Wind Rises but it is more focused on the horror of WW2. You should check it out!
My favorite is Spirited Away! I would always pick up when at the rental dvd store, over time I thought it was a dream but was so happy when I found out the movie was real. Howl's Moving Castle would be me 2nd favorite film alongside Kiki's Delivery Service and The Cat Returns.
My top favorite is When Marnie Was There. It made me cry and not many things make me cry. It has such a cozy vibe too and I love ghosty stuff. Some honorable mentions are Spirited Away, The Wind Rises, & Kiki's Delivery Service.
Loves from Türkiye (Turkey). In my opinion, the best animated feature film ever made is "Princess Mononoke". On the other hand, I am really a fan of all Studio Ghibli movies. Thank you Hayao Miyazaki and other great people who contributed.
Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind 💖💚 and my favorite character is either her, or Lord Yupa 😆 Her underground plant-lab is the bomb, and so is she, and her entire community. 🍄 great video thank you!
While my favorite Ghibli film is Spirited Away, my favorite character is Lady Eboshi. She's one of the most nuanced, well-written antagonists in not just anime but in film as a whole.
Since my childhood, I always loved the atmosphere from the Studio Ghibli’s movies that we don’t found in others movies. Each films have a world of its own and are more fabulous like each other. So it’s hard to chose a favourite movie by taking all the works. If I have to choose on the fly I will certainly chose Porco Rosso or the Wind Rises. I am passionate about aeronautics and looking protagonists reaching their dreams makes me more confident to reach my own dreams. I identify myself more with Fio in Porco Rosso, I love her audacity. I could also mention the howl's castle through its soundtrack which is just beautiful
I'm really gratefull for the captions both in english and japanese! I'm learning japanese and your interviews really help me to learn how a "daily" conversation would be like. And I'm also training my english so it also help me ;) thank you thank you for tthe content =D
for me it's Nausicaä (which is also my fav film outside ghibli) > Laputa > Pompoko Then probably Mononoke, Chihiro and Grave of the fireflies all 3 at the same rank I'll go there asap, can't wait was happy to see Nausicaä in the answer, nausicaä is also my fav character which I always admired
My favourite is Spirited Away too, but thats the obvious answer, so my 2nd favourite is From Up on Poppy Hill. I just love the vibes of it, the main characters, the romance, and that it feels wholesome and comforting. I'm glad others said it was their favourite because it doesnt get mentioned a lot when it comes to Ghibli movies.
Sad that no one mentioned Ponyo. I thought most Japanese would prefer that one. But my favorite will always be Whisper of the Heart and my favorite character is The Baron. Such a great coming-of-age movie!
Seems like the Japanese love the old school films in Nausicaa and Laputa. I agree whole heartedly as well! Whisper of the Heart touched me the most though, but Nausicaa is Ghibli's coolest.
My favorite Ghibli film is hard to watch and had an impact on me is Grave of the Fireflies, Isao Takahata was one of the few animators that truly showed the true horrors of war.
My first Ghibli film ever was From Up On Poppy Hill, my favourite is always going to be Mononoke Hime, but Kaguya, Pom Pomko and Nausicaa are also amazingly unique in their own magical ways.
For me personally, When Marnie Was There is an absolute comfort movie that gets me really emotional but I also love My Neighbour Totoro and Spirited Away (Whisper of the Heart is also really calming and beautiful but wasn't mentioned somehow)
Hi Jesse! I'm a new subscriber. I like your contents. They are all easy to watch, simple interviews but feels so refreshing and I like to see any videos from Japan from various perspectives. Can't wait for more great contents 🙌
My favorite ghibli films are princess mononoke and laputa castle in the sky. I love how this films deeply connect to me in some intimate level that I can't explain it to other people wanting to get into the fandom
hmmm it's hard, I'm a sucker for school romance so my favorites are from up on poppy hill and whisper of the heart it's so hard choosing between the two but leaning towards from up on poppy hill because of the time setting, I really like the post war era
Nausica! ! If you saw Nausica once and liked it, you need to watch the original manga. It is a warning to humanity's future and an epic story that connects to the way we live today. This video was a lot of fun.^^
Mine are Spirited away and Howls moving castle, a lot for the music but also the art put into it. And it's crazy how much of a mark Spirited away left on the west because everyone has seen that movie, and a lot of people from many different walks of life say it's their favourite movie of all time.
even though im american and grew up in america, i grew up mostly on japanese culture weather it was the food, art, and for the most part the flimmm studio ghibli has been my favorite before I was even a year old and it still is, my room is filled with studio ghibli movie decorations which i got for every birthday for 17 years. I am pretty sure I dont have even a spec of japanese dna, so i honestly dont know how I ended up growing up on so much of its culture as a kid. because i ended up growing up to be a "kpop stan" or "kpop fan" whatever you want to call it, I got super induced in the culture especially kpop, kdramas, and the food. because of that i have been eating more korean food for the last year or so, but i still have that sweet spot for japanese food 😍
I have only watched about half of the studio Ghibli films so far but my favourite has to be Nausicaa. It was the first Ghibli film I watched and is so unique from any movie I'd ever seen before. I also loved the backgrounds
Man is ocean waves really under rated out of them all I really enjoy that movie because it reminds me of how beautiful the ocean looks and sounds and how growing up feels like and it should be more appreciated for how beautiful it is
Princess Mononoke is so beautiful yet haunting but the message I feel is Miyazaki's true passion and love towards nature and it just shines so expressively in the film through it's characters and world it's just brilliant!!! ❤️🥹
Hard for me to pick between Princess Mononoke & Spirited Away. Both completely draw me in, be it the drawings or the music or the setting or the characters. Masterpieces.
It's interesting to hear so many Laputa entries; it definitely doesn't get the recognition it deserves, at least in the US. Some of the animation techniques haven't aged very well, but the world and character building is on par with any of Ghibli's more modern and grandiose films. To name a favorite would be impossible, but Mononoke, Howl's, Spirited, Totoro, Laputa all squarely make that list. Takahata's stuff is excellent, too, but it's too poignant and personal to watch as just entertainment (save maybe Pom Poko). I also really like Iblard Jikan; I have no idea how to classify it...a really long music video, maybe? But on rainy spring days its nice to just put on and let your mind wander.
The wind rises and poco rosso is underrated , i mean they are the movies where myazaki raises the level of fantasy and imagination to another level , like how in hell a flying pig could made me cry !! a genius creativity
I bet international fans would beg to differ like the one guy who chose grave of the fireflies," which is also my personal favourite along side "The wind rises (we must try to live)". The track song "A journey" from the latter is alone to die for.
My favorite is Princess Mononoke and close second is Porco Rosso. I was waiting for someone to say either was their favortie :^( Princess Mononoke has some of the coolest women in cinema. Porco Rosso is funny, cute, and actually very sad. It keeps the sadness just beneath the surface.
Personally my favourites (the ones that I have watched yet) 1 : spirited away 2 : Howls moving castle 3 : My neighbour Totoro 4 : The Secret World of Arrietty 5 : Graves of the fireflies 6 : kiki’s delivery service
I can never rank them or list out my fav of all.....but Arrietty is the first Ghibli movie i watched and i hv never seen anything more artistic than that before. KIKI's delivery service have my best memories. My neighbor totoro i have cute aggression. I cried so much in When marnie was there and people won't understand when i say Only yesterday is one of my fav too....but here i can say it is because people will know what i mean.
Honestly, its hard for me to choose just one favorite movie. I would have a hard time choosing between Spirited Away and The Wind Rises (since both of them are at the top of my list of fav. studio ghibli movies).
My favorite Ghibli movie is Kiki's delivery service because it was my first and most watched movie ever. I've probably watched it more than 20 times and know the lines by heart. I feel like this movie inconsciously influenced my whole life : I got into japanese culture and am currently learning japanese, I went abroad at a relatively young age, I want to live in a big city near the sea and I got a black cat. Even if this Ghibli movie holds a special spot in my heart I love them all and seeing all these different answers makes me so happy. Here in France, most people's favorites are Spirited away or Howl's moving castle, and I feel like the other ones are underrated. I hope I'll be able to go back to Japan one day and visit the studios. On another topic, I want to say I love your videos. They're always intersting, fun and educative. It helps me a lot with learning the language as well as the culture. Thank you ! 🤗
Spirited Away was my first Gibli movie so it's going to always be my favorite but I just recently watched a bunch more and Kikis Delivery Service just makes me so happy when I watch it. My favorite character is the dust sprites from My Neighbor Totoro
I love all the films honestly, but the ones that are dear to my heart are: Arrietty, kiki's delivery service, whisper of the heart, only yesterday, ponyo. Arrietty was like the first ghibli film I watched as a kid, it was really heartwarming and bittersweet too. Edit: Damn ponyo got no love🙈🤣
Man I soooo much agree with the first girl, Castle in the Sky is my fav movie just because pazu was sooo cool and the characters in general and the animation is sooo good 😍😍😍

Im glad that Nausicaa got some votes! Easily my favorite Ghibli film. Favorite character is Lord Yupa.
so happy to see some Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind appreciation!!💗
Sad that no one mentions my Favorite Ghibli Film "The Wind Rises/Kaze Tachinu"
Exactly that movie is W, but I get why since it is about a war that Japanese people aren’t really proud of let’s just say.
Love that movie its so hard to rank Ghibli movies though lol
@@Yukis.aviation yeah, that's why one of my Fav Anime movies "In This Corner of the World" is not popular in japan. It's pretty similar to the Wind Rises but it is more focused on the horror of WW2. You should check it out!
@@AceAustin17 Then you should also check the Anime Movie, In This Corner of the World
@@Yukis.aviation which one if you don't mind educating me.
Favorite of all time has to be My Neighbor Totoro, it's just so lighthearted and fun. Also , it just has endless iconic scenes.
Loves from Türkiye (Turkey).
In my opinion, the best animated feature film ever made is "Princess Mononoke".
On the other hand, I am really a fan of all Studio Ghibli movies. Thank you Hayao Miyazaki and other great people who contributed.
The most violent
my faves are whisper of the heart, only yesterday and howl's!!
I always loved knowing the studio ghibli faves of random people. It makes me so excited
Kiki's delivery service is my all-time favourite.
Something about this video is so warm and cozy. Loved it ❤❤❤❤
Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind 💖💚 and my favorite character is either her, or Lord Yupa 😆 Her underground plant-lab is the bomb, and so is she, and her entire community. 🍄 great video thank you!
While my favorite Ghibli film is Spirited Away, my favorite character is Lady Eboshi. She's one of the most nuanced, well-written antagonists in not just anime but in film as a whole.
Absolutely right
Absolutely right
Since my childhood, I always loved the atmosphere from the Studio Ghibli’s movies that we don’t found in others movies.
So happy to see few people answered From Up On Poppy Hill as their favorites !
Princess Mononoke was my first Ghibli film and i love it 🤍 San and Ashitaka are my faves!
That place looks amazing! My favorite Ghibli film would have to be Castle in the Sky with Princess Mononoke a close second.
Ponyo is underrated I’m surprised no one mentioned it.
I'm really gratefull for the captions both in english and japanese! I'm learning japanese and your interviews really help me to learn how a "daily" conversation would be like.
And I'm also training my english so it also help me ;)
thank you thank you for tthe content =D
for me it's Nausicaä (which is also my fav film outside ghibli) > Laputa > Pompoko
Then probably Mononoke, Chihiro and Grave of the fireflies all 3 at the same rank
I'll go there asap, can't wait
was happy to see Nausicaä in the answer, nausicaä is also my fav character which I always admired
I’m surprised no one said Princess Mononoke. It’s such a gorgeous film and story. The messages are timeless
Sad that no one mentioned Ponyo. I thought most Japanese would prefer that one. But my favorite will always be Whisper of the Heart and my favorite character is The Baron. Such a great coming-of-age movie!
im glad someone else's fav is from up on poppy hill! most people i talk to about ghibli aren't familiar with this movie, but it's my favorite😊
I loved From Up On Poppy Hill. It's so underrated and beautiful. Glad at least a few people mentioned it ❣
Seems like the Japanese love the old school films in Nausicaa and Laputa. I agree whole heartedly as well!
Whisper of the Heart touched me the most though, but Nausicaa is Ghibli's coolest.
I was so happy when this video popped up on my feed!
I can’t wait to visit the Ghibli theme park next year 🥺
My favorite Ghibli film is hard to watch and had an impact on me is Grave of the Fireflies, Isao Takahata was one of the few animators that truly showed the true horrors of war.
Nausicaa is underrated nice to hear people talk about it
My first Ghibli film ever was From Up On Poppy Hill, my favourite is always going to be Mononoke Hime, but Kaguya, Pom Pomko and Nausicaa are also amazingly unique in their own magical ways.
For me personally, When Marnie Was There is an absolute comfort movie that gets me really emotional but I also love My Neighbour Totoro and Spirited Away (Whisper of the Heart is also really calming and beautiful but wasn't mentioned somehow)
It’s so weird how nobody mentioned Ocean waves, it always brings such a nostalgic feeling to my heart
I was so distraught that Ocean waves, Castle of Cagliostro and Ponyo werent mentioned
Spirited Away is my all time fav!!! another place added to my bucket list
I love how this films deeply connect to me in some intimate level that I can't explain it to other people wanting to get into the fandom
hmmm it's hard, I'm a sucker for school romance so my favorites are from up on poppy hill and whisper of the heart
it's so hard choosing between the two
but leaning towards from up on poppy hill because of the time setting, I really like the post war era
Nausica!
It's definitely mine. The scene where all the stalls fill up with hot steaming food is my absolute favorite. That movie is so visually stunning.
Such a great and unique video idea, great work👏🏾 also my favourite is ponyo but no one mentioned it😂
even though im american and grew up in america, i grew up mostly on japanese culture weather it was the food, art, and for the most part the flimmm studio ghibli has been my favorite before I was even a year old and it still is, my room is filled with studio ghibli movie decorations which i got for every birthday for 17 years.
Man is ocean waves really under rated out of them all I really enjoy that movie because it reminds me of how beautiful the ocean looks and sounds and how growing up feels like and it should be more appreciated for how beautiful it is
was waiting for people mentioning it but it's not very popular i think, but i love this movie so so much
Princess Mononoke is so beautiful yet haunting but the message I feel is Miyazaki's true passion and love towards nature and it just shines so expressively in the film through it's characters and world it's just brilliant!!! ❤️🥹
I like the vibes of this interview or survey. It's so cute!
Hard for me to pick between Princess Mononoke & Spirited Away. Both completely draw me in, be it the drawings or the music or the setting or the characters. Masterpieces.
kiki's delivery service and whisper of the heart are my favs
Love Kiki, spirited away, laputa, nausicca and howl. It’s so hard to choose.
Everytime I try to forget grave of fireflies why, it’s so sad😭
I very like Laputa castle in the sky and Spirited away. I love that there are people, who likes Laputa castle in the sky.
my top3 are princess kaguya, whisper of the heart and only yesterday & it's so surprising that no one has picked any of them 🤧
It’s probably because none of those are Miyazaki films and anything not made by Miyazaki tends to fly under the radar except for GOTF.
Porco Rosso is my favorite as well, but you really can't go wrong with any Ghibli film. Ocean Waves and Tales From Earthsea are pretty underrated too.
My favorite is Princess Mononoke and close second is Porco Rosso. I was waiting for someone to say either was their favortie :^(
Princess Mononoke has some of the coolest women in cinema. Porco Rosso is funny, cute, and actually very sad. It keeps the sadness just beneath the surface.
Personally my favourites (the ones that I have watched yet)
1 : spirited away
2 : Howls moving castle
3 : My neighbour Totoro
4 : The Secret World of Arrietty
5 : Graves of the fireflies
6 : kiki’s delivery service
I can never rank them or list out my fav of all.....but Arrietty is the first Ghibli movie i watched and i hv never seen anything more artistic than that before. KIKI's delivery service have my best memories. My neighbor totoro i have cute aggression.
I cried so much in When marnie was there and people won't understand when i say Only yesterday is one of my fav too....but here i can say it is because people will know what i mean.
my personal favourite is the cat returns idk why i just really love it
Finally a vote for the cat returns. Mine too.
My favorite character is the dust sprites from My Neighbor Totoro
howl's moving castle is my favorite! love everything about it
Honestly wouldn’t be surprised if that Spirited Away costumed person was a well known writer or manga artist trying to retain anonymity lol
Always with good and different content with nice background music just love it. My Favorite is Spirited Away
I love all the films honestly, but the ones that are dear to my heart are: Arrietty, kiki's delivery service, whisper of the heart, only yesterday, ponyo.
Arrietty was like the first ghibli film I watched as a kid, it was really heartwarming and bittersweet too.
Edit: Damn ponyo got no love🙈🤣
this gives off such a vibe !!!
i've gotta visit when i go to japan !
Howls Moving Castle and Spirited Away share first place for me 😊
Man I soooo much agree with the first girl, Castle in the Sky is my fav movie just because pazu was sooo cool and the characters in general and the animation is sooo good 😍😍😍
If someone ask me what is my Studio Ghibli movie, I WOULD FREAK OUT. It is really hard for me to choose one. They have all have special place in my heart.🥰
i'm sad no one said Princess Mononoke as it's my favourite but this video was so cute!
